Staples years past- looking for suggestions

My sister would like to get a laptop from Staples this year, and is prepared to camp out. I looked at the archived threads but there is really no mention of Staples- more BB and OM. Anyone have suggestions as to what time she should get there, do they do ticketing, and experiences with getting big ticket items? How are they on stock, etc. We have never really done Staples on BF much less for a laptop.

Oh and she cannot buy it online, as her bf flies out the next day and is taking it with him to Brazil.

Thanks!

3 years ago I got a laptop there and didn't line up until 5:30. People behind me also got what they wanted. Last year I got there less than 5 minutes to opening and got the cheapest camera offered at any store that year. This year I'm going for a laptop again (the price isn't quite as great as at Walmart or Best Buy but I'm not camping) and plan to stop there after I finish at Target (hopefully 5:30ish). If you're really set on getting something, though, I'd advise getting there as early as you feel you need to just to be sure you don't miss out. It would be horrible to get up in the middle of the night, drive over there, freeze for hours, and miss out.

I've gone to Staples 2 of the last 3 years on BF and my experiences there are always the best. The lines are reasonable. They're well-organized (usually they hand you tickets in the line outside, everything good is in the aisles on the way to the register clearly marked, and while waiting to checkout the manager trades tickets for items and helps grab any items forgotten or unfound) and the staff is unbelievably helpful.

that's ok... OP was looking for a laptop that was why I responded the way I did. Their desktop deal is a good deal. I am contemplating that for myself, just not sure. Desktops usually don't sell out the way laptops do, at least from what I have seen. If it is there when I get to the store, then I may get it, if not, it wasn't meant to be ;)... as long as I got the laptop from last week I am ok. I needed 3 laptops for Christmas & got them.. the one from Staples and two from Best Buy 2 weeks ago when they had their deal.. $349 for their Toshiba ......

Oh in that case the Dell desktop is what you want because it runs that same processor.

We camped out at Staples in 2006. Got there at 10 P.M. There were 2 people ahead of us.

We wanted the Mio GPS, 200 GB hard drives, and Samsung 19" monitor.

They had 3 of the monitors, a dozen of the hard drives and 7 of the GPS units.

Most other items were less than 10 each.

They have the good stuff behind the front counter, so if you go Thanksgiving Day and look thru the window, you can count how many of each item they have.

The 2 people ahead of us took one of each of the main items we wanted.

By the time the doors opened, there were about 50 people in line.

The doors open here later than most places, so you get people coming from the stores that already opened trying to cut in line. They had plenty of the smaller items that we wanted and sent someone after that stuff while we were in line for the good stuff.

Thank you all for the words of wisdom. I figured it would not be as bad as Best Buy, but I would hate for her to miss out on it as well. I will let her know, and I will be sure to post what she managed to make out with!

I plan on getting the Sony camera but was hoping to snag that online before even heading out!
