Jen8112
I just thought of this. If Wal-Mart is opening at midnight and the lines are going to be inside and we can't buy anything until 5am...I won't be able to smoke! I know I know, dirty nasty habit but I smoke and I can't change that right now. Will others in line be ok with us stepping out of line to go outside for a smoke? Anyone else have this problem? :)

RaineeDay1
I would NOT plan on getting out of line to smoke. peo ple may not all be so friendly
Mommax3
I am a smoker too. Everytime we go in for a secret sale or BF, we have two of us in line. That way I can walk away and smoke. I would say that in my opinion no one is going to let you back in line after you walk out to smoke. Most people would see that as an opportunity to get one space closer to getting what they want. KoopawnKode
I don't think everyone will treat it the same as they would a restroom break. EVERYONE needs to use the restroom at one time or another (some can hold it for a long time!) but not everyone needs/wants to smoke. It's going to be treated as a matter of choice. Gporter34
In the past we have always just taken enough people for someone to hold the person's place in line while they go smoke, use the restroom, or whatever else they need to do. As long as you have someone to hold your place, you should be fine.
happysunshine28
Definitely have someone hold your place.
KBsDarling
i wouldnt count on being allowed back in line....it *MAY* happen but I would not 100% count on it...Why not start a New Years resolution early? I mean what better day to quit....people will just think you are BF crazy when you are ready to tear their heads off
peppysfireball
I am a NON smoker with a smoking husband I do NOT allow to smoke iin my home. If someone wants to go outside to smoke and give theirselves cancer, they will have to beat me to death to get back in line. Sorry, that's my opinion and I think smoking should be illegal everywhere, not just in stores. It took me years to get my husband out of the house with it and I still don't let his clothing touch anything when he comes in. It took my youngest using a breathing machine to stop it. I have no sympathy at all for anyo;ne who choses this nasty habit.
rjncmj
I also would not be willing to let someone in line after they smoked. I feel that is a frivolous reason to leave the line and I sure don't want to smell the stench of it if they were to come back in line.
mtsuboy
Walmart is allowing for 15 minute smoke/restroom breaks. Each line for big ticket items (TV's, laptops, etc) will be supervised by several associates. If you need to excuse yourself you will be given a "pass". This pass is good for 15 minutes. If you're not back in 15 minutes your place in line is forfeited.

mrstoots
I don't smoke so I can't relate to your problem but I do think it would only be right to allow people standing in line all that time to use the bathroom. JMO But anyone going to the Wally World I usually go to isn't going to have that problem because per management they are not opening at midnight at my Walmart, they are opening at 5:00 a.m. like they always have. This is per THREE different managers. I have checked and double checked and that is the word at my store...
Jen8112
Wow I didn't know this question would bring up so much emotion from non-smokers! Well I guess I will have to wait and see what time my Wa-Mart opens, if we get a "pass" and I'm bringing my niece with me and she can hold my place. BTW, for the people that think that smoking should be illegal, I think alcohol should be illegal because more people die from getting hit buy drunk drivers than "second hand smoke" from smoking OUTSIDE. jdrd90
A pass for a bathroom break or a smoke break, who will know the difference? Well, until you come back and smell like a cigarette lol. I am not a smoker, not even gonna go there but if you want to go smoke and you are in line in front of me, I wouldn't care. Just have gum or a mint with you when you come back to talk to me lol Good luck.

Your statement seems a little hypocritical.
tdanette
Outside, I was always 2 or 3 in line and never had a problem with just stepping to the side to smoke and getting right back in line. This year is a different story with everyone standing inside but I'll probably take some Big Red and lots of coffee to get me through.
bpr
Now would be a good time to quit . If you make through the first five hours of BF shopping without a smoke , then you should be able to make it the rest of your life , lol. cassgurlie04
My sisters store is having employees stationed at all the pallets as "place holders" She said that an employee will hold your spot in line to use the restroom, grab a drink, smoke a cigarette. Im not sure if this is a company wide thing but atleast how they are doing it here.
Gporter34
After reading some of these posts I have to wonder...where are all of you shopping? Most of the people I visit with at our store are friendly and help one another if we are in line together for a long time. They usually don't ask why you need to leave the line, just ask if you are going to be gone long, if not, go ahead and go. After all, it IS the holiday season, isn't it??? I will not tolerate line jumpers:gdparanoid:, but if you need to step out and take a few puffs I will not be upset. Just don't get offended if I ask if I can Febreeze you when you come back, lol. I have seen others get physical demanding they go to the end of the line.....I may take a can of febreeze with me for the smokers though! Can't stand the way smokers smell ...... mudd274
My 15 mins.is mine to do whatever I please. Tee Tee, Puff Puff, Pooh and so on. I find the different perfumes to be more of a problem than smoke smell. I might think your choice of smell good stinks but wouldnt say anything. I get instant headaches from some smells but wouldnt say a word. Some people dont know when enough foo foo juice is enough. There are always whiners no matter where you are or what you are doing. I hope some of you arent at my store to ruin my trip. Happy shopping to all....
