Treat the following just as a rumor (netbooks)

So BB might have a similar one for less. But it would likely involve camping out on Thursday to get it, while OM won't have anywhere near the lines as BB. As with all BF deals, it's a question of how much your time is worth.

I tend not to believe the people at BB. Last year I was in there and made a comment about BF. I said I was waitin to get a laptop for my DD, but had seen a better deal at CC in comparison to the one we were looking at at BB. The manager or whoever he was in computers said to me, that he had see the ad and it was going to blow the competition out of the water. He said the ad was going to put CC out of business.(CC was already in deep trouble by then already.) We all know how bad BB ad was last year, so hopefully this year will be better.

I had a pc specialist tell me that the 149 netbook OfficeMax is offering is overpriced. Read between the lines on that one.

Don't think hourly employees would have this info yet. Sorry, but I think they are screwing with you. :sib:

(sorry, saw that one and just had to use it.)

You'd be surprised who knows what. Don't discount the belittled hourly enployees and what they do know.

Here in Ohio we never know what BB will do come Black Friday...one year we didn't even have doorbusters, although they honored a price for me on a camera - so go figure. The lines are always so long - I camped out 2 years ago and it was worth it that year for me. I doubt I would camp out to save a few bucks on a Netbook, but it is on MY list of things to get this year. I just don't want to deal with the lines at BB. Now, if it's online and cheaper - that would be fun!

Two years ago I went to BB, after I got the ad from here, to scope out the computers so I could decide which one I wanted. While I was there an employee saw that I had a printed ad with me and was shocked and asked if he could see it. It was defiantly the first time he had see any of the deals in the ad. When he was done he handed it back to me and said "I think I'm going to call out sick on Black Friday" ;):D

There won't be any netbook cheaper then $199, even $149 is pushing it. Netbooks already have no margin, I don't see the benefit of having one so far below cost, Best Buy wouldn't do it. If anything, we'll see some type of package deal on a netbook with a case and a dvd drive.

No Best Buy employee outside of the corporate office will know what's in our BF ad until its leaked online. Best Buy is super tight lipped on this, to the point even the general manager's are not told a thing till the last couple weeks before BF. If you work there you can guess what will be in the ad based on what is coming off the trucks, but there is no way to know the price.

Just found the Officemax netbook you mentioned. Typical netbook specs, terrible battery however, which renders the point of a netbook useless, as you'll need your charger with you all the time.

Now that I saw Officemax's, I could potentially see Best Buy pulling out an Acer netbook of their own, but really, no way I could see any real netbook under that price (that Kmart junk in a box don't count). If they do, I'll be absolutely shocked, and there would be the biggest mob ever in line to get one.

Don't need one though personally, as my phone with Android is my portable computer of choice.

Yes they would potentially have netbooks for $150 with decent specs. They would be considered loss leaders and the sales would be made up by adding the extra "necessities" employees would tell the public they "need" also, they wouldn't need a lot to get the hype up. BB has been known to do that with their "minimum 1 per store" and I've been to places where they REALLY only had 1!

Plus, it wouldn't be too expensive to purchase a 6 or 9 cell battery replacement if needed and have the 3 cell as backup if someone needed it for lengthy periods over 3 hours.

Have you priced brand new, name brand OEM 6 and 9-cell batteries lately? Some sell for even more than the $150 price of the netbook, so I'm confused as to your definition of not too expensive.

or you can search tigerdirect.com and other sites for the same OEM part. but they can be found for cheap :yup:

I wouldn't count on it. Last year the BB was ad was the worst I ever saw, but the fact that there were so many less people on line last year maybe they got the hint............ nah, doubt it!! Seriously though, last year at the store I go to there was only about 35% of what was on line the year before. I wouldn't be too shocked to see some cheap laptops ($250 range) but with limit 10 just to get people in for a bait and switch. Only 10 would be available, so if 100 people THINK they can get it they make the money on the others they sell at regular prices because people aren't going to go home empty handed after waiting on line all night. I know when they had the $229 laptops 2 years ago there were about 250 people in line thinking they had a chance. Limit 20, I don't think it got past the 25th person on line, lol. Excellent computer too, still running strong.
