  1. I still like their "Free after Plenti points" items (everything on scan pages 3 and 7) which is very similar to previous years. I agree with some that I find administration of the Plenti points program a little confusing compared to other programs, but will figure out my registration issue and make it work. I will be paying them a visit. I have been trying to hit all three pharmacy chains (Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens) on Thanksgiving morning before Thanksgiving festivities, or some other time when I am not working on major stores.
  2. There are various items in the Rite Aid ad that can make good stocking stuffers. Especially look at the items on scan pages 3 and 7 which are all "free" after Plenti points. I have edited the item listing to highlight these items (look for "FREE" after xx Plenti points in the listings or My Shopping List. Also fun socks on page 1.
  3. That is the way I interpret the ad.
  4. I used to go with my nephew, but have been going alone for some years, as he has been in a different state than me. I sometimes return home or hotel and take my wife out later, but she does not do the whole routine. I would only want/accept going with someone if you share a similar understanding of the process you want to apply to avoid wasting time, such as waiting in separate lines, then rejoining. The greater spread-out and internet options make it easier to work together now, though.
  5. It depends, but I would say half or more is for myself or shared items for our home. I tend to delay other shopping for two or more months prior to BF in hopes that I will find deals.
  6. For what (little) it is worth, based on the locations reported so far, following are the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost GottaDeal BF shoppers: Northernmost: so far that would be me, taking a trip to Burlington, Vermont Southernmost: totallybf in Clearwater, Florida Easternmost: jenmovdob in South Portland, Maine Westernmost: caycemd somewhere near San Jose, California.
  7. I have updated the map with everyone up to this post. Be sure to view the original at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zUnZpeEjK4QE.kEBLMYUCCXrE. You have to zoom in to see some people who are in the same city. And add your marker and respond to the thread if you have not already. ******** Oops. Deleted this version from Photobucket. See below for current map.
  8. I already won a shirt in the last contest, but just to respond: 1. 9 years so far, since 2006. This will be my tenth year. 2. Similar or maybe less because I don't have as many needs/interests this year, not due to constraints. 3. Yes, I will definitely do some online shopping and purchases. Already have past few years. 4. Mainly alone, but part of the time with 3 other family members. 5. I would have said opening times on Thanksgiving, but other than that, I would say better supply of Doorbuster items.
  9. On Woot today for $299.99. http://www.woot.com/offers/self-balancing-scooters-5-colors?ref=cnt_dly_wobtn This is a competitive price, but I am waiting in hopes of a better deal.
  10. The Walmart where that happened is in Valley Stream NY on Long Island. It is a suburban location not in New York City proper. See: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/worker-dies-long-island-wal-mart-trampled-black-friday-stampede-article-1.334059 I don't shop at that Walmart, but often shop Black Friday in the "Nassau Hub" area just to the north, including another Walmart there. As others have said, although this tragedy happened at this particular store, Walmarts in general have crowd control issues, partly due to the way they run their Black Friday events, and partly due to some of the people who tend to shop at Walmarts everywhere. (Not referring to any of us on GottaDeal, of course.) *********************** This is somewhat off-topic, of course, but I guess it shows that where you will be shopping (what neighborhood, not just what city/town) certainly does affect your Black Friday experience.
  11. Why are you nervous? What part of the city will you be shopping in? You will have a blast! (I live in Queens and work across the street from Madison Square Garden.)
  12. Fantastic (I won)! I look forward to the great new shirt design. Congratulations to all the other winners.
  13. Map is updated with everyone up to this message. Keep adding your locations: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zUnZpeEjK4QE.kEBLMYUCCXrE And check the map to see who is near you. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/mcwalker59/BlackFridayMap2015-10-27.jpg Only one Califonia person! Where are our west coast GottaDealers?
  14. And for my last entry: A Despicable Me plush doll. (They are taking over the planet!) http://www.amazon.com/Despicable-Me-Minion-Dave-Plush/dp/B00BSWSFEC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1445926912&sr=8-9&keywords=despicable+me+doll Sorry about that jumbo picture! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91u1OKpJzWL._SL1500_.jpg
  15. Here is an updated view of the map. I have not checked names against the posts. Check out the map to see who is where at: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?hl=en&authuser=0&mid=zUnZpeEjK4QE.kEBLMYUCCXrE Still no California, Oregon, Washington, or Alaska. Where are you guys? Blue marker is for Brad in metropolitan Milwaukee area. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/mcwalker59/BlackFridayMap2015-10-26.jpg
  16. My first was in 2006 in suburban Chicago, shortly after I discovered GottaDeal.com.
  17. High Sierra luggage. http://www.amazon.com/High-Sierra-Sportour-Wheeled-Upright/dp/B00HA3FF78/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1445840016&sr=1-2&nodeID=15743211&keywords=high+sierra+luggage http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81h-b2tZApL._SY355_.jpg
  18. I think I have 4 or 5, all won.
  19. That's an interesting article. I heard of the patent issue, but hadn't thought about how it might impede a major retailer (who are better targets for lawsuits) from jumping in yet. Let's see what happens. I agree that the chance of Black Friday deals is better in a year or two, if only due to the newness of these.
  20. Self Balancing Two-Wheel Scooters. These are going to be popular this year. My daughter and niece are interested in them. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_18?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=self+balancing+two+wheel+scooter&sprefix=self+balancing+two%2Caps%2C130 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41f6yGHjCcL._SX425_.jpg
  21. My daughter and niece are interested in self-balancing two-wheel scooters this year (and dad might have fun with one, too). Photo below. These are relatively new on the market and prices have been coming down. I look forward to seeing whether there are any Black Friday deals on these, but I am also not sure of differences in quality between the different models. At current pricing, I would probably want to spend in the low end of the price range (preferably $200 and certainly not more than $300), but I don't want something that falls apart or presents more hazard that is inherent to these devices. A couple of reviews I have heard indicate that they are all fairly similar in quality, which suggests going with the cheapest available. I am not interested in higher speed, since that is inherently more dangerous, 6 mph / 10 kph is more than enough. Does anyone own one of these? Do you know anything about the different brands? Post here if you know a particularly good price for one and we will post if some turn up in the Black Friday ads. 22. Always up for a nice model train for Christmas. http://www.amazon.com/Kato-USA-Model-Train-Products/dp/B00NANTVKE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1445735854&sr=8-6&keywords=model+trains http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61fJ8uv5eRL._SL1020_.jpg
  23. I have updated the map and added everyone who responded up to this message. Image below. Some of the pins are on top of each other at this scale. Go to the original map at the following link and zoom in to see pins that are close and click on a pin to see who it represents. Keep adding your locations to the map. Where are our West Coast and Alaska BF shoppers? https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zUnZpeEjK4QE.kEBLMYUCCXrE&usp=sharing http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/mcwalker59/BlackFridayMap2015-10-24.jpg
  24. Hi, I am the guy who made the maps the past few years. (Someone else did it one or two years before me.) I have set up a Google Map which you can access at the following link: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zUnZpeEjK4QE.kEBLMYUCCXrE&usp=sharing To mark the location where you will be shopping on Black Friday: Open the map Zoom in on the area where you will be shopping. Try to see the actual part of your city/town, not just the city Click on the "upside-down rain drop" in the upper left area of the map, your cursor will turn into a cross hatch. Click on the location where you will be shopping to place the mark. A dialog box will appear to enter information. On the line that says "Point ##" enter your GottaDeal screen name. You can enter additional details in the box below the name. Click "Save" in the dialog box. I will post screen shots of the map here periodically after some people have added their locations. Have fun. Oh, and for the first time, I will be traveling to Burlington, Vermont this Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Here is the current map. (Coming soon.)
  25. Brad has posted the real ad now, replacing that earlier link. http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/HarborFreight
