  1. I don't think that you have to buy a gift for the art, music, or gym teacher or librarian or nurse, secretary, principal... unless they have done something special out of the way for your child or you want to. I think that most people don't buy for all of them. If you wanted to you can just go with an ornament or something inexpensive. An ornament with a musical instrument or plays music for the music teacher, one with a book for the librarian... Or you could take turns and buy only one of them something each year. Some places have childrens' gift sales where they can buy gifts for like $1. Or you could bake cookies and give each of them a plate. I only buy for the teacher & teachers helper / student teacher. Usually something holiday themed or candles or bath stuff.

The ornament idea is really cute. We always include the other teachers in my son's gift giving experience since they frequently seem to be "left out" by the holiday activities. I also like the cookie plate idea and I don't know anyone that doesn't really love and appreciate a plate of homemade cookies. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with a pastry called Bakalava, but I make a lot of that to give away during the holidays and it looks very nice on a cookie tray. Oops, I forgot this is gottadeal not gottababble.

  2. I was to late to sign up last year and (can't remember how) found someone else that was in the same situation, so we decided to have our own. I don't want to mention her (privacy thing) but it worked out very nice. I will just mention that she is one of the nicest people I have "met" online. I only mention to give some newbies some ideas since it's outside of GD activities, you can do it on your own if you're willing to risk your money and time on another newbie. Just a suggestion, but please don't PM Eve with questions or try to get her involved. If you can't figure it out on your own, you'll have problems with wrapping and mailing and you should probably keep those problems to yourself. If this is against GD rules to even post this, please don't put me in GD jail as I have special dietary restrictions and cannot sleep without my stinky pillow. Thank you.
  3. I used to be a regular Target peruser (SP?) but have given up on mine in the last year BUT did find in jacksonville (mandarin) 24 packs of Bathroom Tissue (I think it is Charmin) anyway, they were only 2.74 a pack. I don't usually switch brands but I couldn't pass this up. I bought 4 (24) packs. They had a lot of them in the back of the store where they have big sizes of stuff (darn I can't remember the word for the big sizes right now) anyway, I don't shop any other Targets so I don't know if any other local stores have them.
  4. WOAH! Im proud of u!

Okay, a little off topic, but am I the only one that wants to share their coupons in the store with other customers?! I always want to stop them when theyre buying stuff that I KNOW I have coupons for that I know I'll probably never use, do you think thats odd or too upfront? I almost gave a younger lady yesterday a couple of $1 off Pamper coupons since she had a couple packs of them in her cart. She also had a couple kids with her, all under age about 5! I thought she looked like she could have used the couple dollars, but I was afraid she would think I was being rude or assuming she didnt have money. It would have made my day to help her out though!

I am a coupon giver too. I have also been offered coupons which I always appreciate if I am buying or will be buying the product. Just happened last week at Party City when I was getting a lot of stuff at Party City, a lady asked me if I wanted to use her $10.00 off $100.00 purchase. I already had a coupon of my own, but If I hadn't, I wouldn't have been offended at all but I always wonder if someone will think I am being rude also. Any others have input?

  5. I want to pick up a new riding mower when they hit clearance before winter. I was hoping to send away for one of those 10% coupons for Lowes or home depot to use with it. Just with the amount of time it takes to get the coupon I want to time it right. Anyone know roughly when (like what month) I can expect them to start clearing out lawnmowers? Thanks a ton

would you mind sharing your source for "sending away" for a 10% off Lowes coupon. My husband really gets on my nerves sometimes and a coupon like that would keep him occupied for several hours as tries to figure out how he can best use 10% off. Thanks if you can help.

  6. Go to the bottom of the KMart homepage. Under KMart deals you can sign up for email savings. That is the link to the private sales.

Thank you so much for the info, I signed up tonight. I feel like such a special ghetto girl now with a warm bond with Martha Stewart. Heck, if I ever got sentenced for anything and was ordered wear an ankle monitor, who better to help me wear it with style. Actually I'm looking for a cheap set of corelle dishes so maybe I'll come across a set. You guys are funny.

  7. I live in the ghetto in jacksonville florida (mandarin area) , but I have never received any information about secret sales. Is there a special sign up for ghettoees (is that the correct terminology)? I know about those pearl sets of which you refer as I bought one for one of my dirty nasty neighbors daughter for her fifteenth birthday (I chose the pink pearl and she loved it) BUT, I paid $29.00 for the set. I realize that I cannot go back in time, but I sure would like to join the Kmart Ghetto club if you can provide me with any info. You can post here, or just send a private message. I think a public post would be better because I doubt if I am the only clueless one. Thanks.
  8. Which Target do you shop in? I have checked Towncenter and the one on Hodges and Beach and both Toy clearances are pathetic.

I shop Town Center occasionally but mostly the one on San Jose in Mandarin. Totally pathetic. We have a Target, Super Walmart and a Kmart all within just a few miles (5 at most) and none of them have clearance worth woo-hooing. I might have to gather up my courage and cross over the Buckman Bridge to see what Orange Park has to offer. Darn, don't they understand that christmas is almost here!

  9. I have so much stuff that I have no idea how many boxes I even have because as fast as I can fill them up, my husband snatches them up to put away in our storage shed. Occasionally I'll see something in Target (usually Target) and it will remind me that I already have one in one of my boxes. This happens every year. When he brings all of the boxes out, I invite my daughters over to go "shopping" for gifts for co-workers and stuff. The selection is usually rather large. When we're done shopping, I usually box up the remaining items in a few boxes and pick someone from this forum to send a surprise box to. I would never mention any names, but I will say that one recipient last year said she cried when she found a special surprise that I added to her box. It's really a lot of fun. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here does that does this. Maybe others could share their stries if allowed. Sorry, I am not trying to thread-jack, I just don't know how to start a new one and this does have to do with the hiding of current ones.
  10. I'm in Jacksonville ZFlorida and went with my youngest daughter on Sunday and we did get some good deals. I can't remember whar deals others were speaking of, but we found lots of 40% off already reduced prices and it seems like everything that wasn't on clearance (to be reduced another 40%) was 50% off anyway. I was able to get her almost an entire week of tops and bottoms for a new job for less than a hundred bucks, and that includes the fact that young women her age layer the tops!
  11. I got 5 bath sets for 2.99 each (consisting of 2 bottles of sparkling bath wash with matching sparkling lotion-several scents) then I got 5 (1.99 each) little black silky drawstring bags with Victoria's Secret on one side and a picture of little panties on the other. The saleslady gave me 5 gift boxes and extra tissue paper since the boxes don't have very much. I came home and assembled my 5 adorable little gift boxes that look like I spent much more than 5 dollars each on. In they go to the christmas box. It's getting close girls, it'll be here again before we know it. I'm sure someone on this board will get one of my VS boxes!
  12. I guess I am too cheap to be here. I think 24.oo is too much to pay for for simple sterling silver earrings. Certainly part of the price is in the name of the retailer, Zales, which isn't exactly the best name in jewelers, but certainly better than Target. But even Target sells sterling for much less. Am I missing something. Or am I just too cheap? Please don't be mean if you answer, I just really don't understand.
  13. Did you send them money to cover the postage? Are you out anything in the process? Just curious. Because it is very nice of people to give them away in the first place when so many people sell them or just use them or throw them away. I understand that you may be patiently waiting, but calling someone out (by name or just in general) on it is really not the right way to go about things. Sometimes it takes a while for mail to get somewhere.

As far as someone having the time to post on here and not the time to mail something...that one I have trouble with. Who are you to question someone posting on here in relation to their spare time? In my case, I may be on here posting, but that does not mean I can just run to the post office instead. You don't know the person's situation. Right now my baby is asleep. I am on here posting because I am done with stuff around the house, supper is over, my son is playing a little before bed, and I am taking some me time. If I had something to mail, I would not go wake my baby girl up to go to the post office. I would let her sleep. And up until Friday when my husband deployed to Iraq, we were sharing 1 vehicle so that would have left me no way to run somewhere.

Now that said, I don't have anything to mail to anyone, and I am not sure who you are speaking of. But that is not the point. When someone goes out of their way to offer you something out of the kindness of their heart, you should kindly accept it -- whenever it comes. As the saying goes, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." And considering your remarks, if I were the one sending you coupons, I would not now because of your statements. But that is just me.

(Sorry if I offended anyone. I am not trying to. That is just how I feel.)

I absolutely agree. I just mailed out out a few freebies to some others on here (not you) and I certainly appreciate their patience. Any I hate to be be mean, but if I ever have a freebie that interests you, I sometimes take longer than may meet your expectations, so just pass on any of my offers as I sure would hate toget you this buzzed up for something that I give away and even pay the postage for out of my own pocket. But you have fun, and I'm sure you'll get lots of future freebie offers. Oh, I did say have fun, didn't I?

  14. I printed it and gave them to my daughters but since so many people had difficulty accessing the certificates I will see if I can get more by signing up again. If I can print them again, I will gladly mail them to a reasonable amount of people (let's say 10, deal?). I'll update this post after I check my email to see if they send them again.

update - yes, I was able to get more in my email, if anyone that is unable to access wants one please send a PM and I'll mail it. When I have reached my stamp budget, I will update. The certificates are (3) 10.00 off 2 lunches or dinners. I've never been there but my daughters said they enjoy it.

  15. They have the heads on sale at target on a regular schedule (or so it seems) Here the 2-pack (they don't sell singles) is approx. 25 dollars and when on sale they are about 20, I have also seen several coupons for 5 dollars off. I'll check my coupons however it's pretty unlikely that I would have saved one, maybe someone else here can help out and dig one up.
  16. Just got back from Target and V-Day stuff was all 75% off (jacksonville Florida, Mandarin store). They actuallly had a decent selection of things that may have been pink or red but in no way were they too valentine themed to pass off any day of the year. They had some sort of cute looking scrap books for kids (I gues it was for kids) in girly and boy styles and ! got a couple of each that rang up at 49 cents even though the original price was 9.99 so of course I was looking for 2.50. I like cheaper! they also had a prettty big selection of pink, red, purple fuzzy socks and sock slippers, nomally 3.99 to 6.99 but each one I scanned ws 64 cents. And I wish I knew someone that was having a baby because they had some absolutely adorable 3-6 and 9 month little carter's sleepers, again not valentine themed, just white with red dots all over..they were so cute. And the most precious little pink knit and pink silky sweaters and matching little red knit pants..I'm pretty sure tht all og the baby stuff was under 1.50, probably half were only 1 dollar. Okay here's the deal. I am addicted to shopping.
