  1. My first grandchild is due Christmas Eve, so that definitely influences the choices.

    Target

Britax Marathon Plus Convertible Car Seat $199

Summer Infant Full View Baby Monitor with 5" Screen $99

BOB Revolution SE Single Jogger Stroller $289

Dyson V6 Motorhead Cordless Vacuum $249.99

That leaves $163.01, which I would spend at Petco for new scratchers and climbers for my kitty friends at the Humane Society.

  2. Dd and her friend begged me to go to WM for Black Friday a few years ago before our WM was 24 hr. Dd HAD to have the Texas Longhorns sweatshirt. I didn't want to go. (Stand outside in North Dakota? No thanks!) They said I could wait in the car. We got there and no one was in line at 3AM. I watched over them, took them hot cocoa and blankets I'd warmed in the car, etc. Shortly more folks showed up and lined up right behind them. I kept checking on them as it was below 0.

When it was finally time, the WM workers opened the far doors, so all that time waiting was wasted, plus no Longhorn shirts, just in-state teams. I took a dejected dd home and ordered it online. They did get the other things they were after, however.

  3. We've had good luck at David's Bridal. The junior year, dd had er heart set on a bronze dress. Low and behold, they had one on their clearance rack on the first stop of the first outing. That day was a surprise clearance sale (in February) and all clearance dresses were $19.99.

Senior year, she saw the dress she wanted in a magazine and nothing else would do. Off to David's Bridal we went. They have the dress in chocolate brown in her size and yellow in the next size smaller. They couldn't order it because it would take 4 months (:eyepoppin) to get it in and prom was 3 1/2 months away. I was told all stores got the brown, however the light colors were randomly. They looked and told me which stores got the pool color (pastel aqua) that she wanted. I called them both. One never got pool, however at the other store, the manager really went the extra mile to get her the dress quickly. The one thing I liked about David's was that they note every dress sold. They make sure that if you buy a dress there, no one else from that school can buy the same dress.

As far as expenses, when I saw that she wanted $300 shoes, I said I'd by the dress and the garter, however any other expenses were hers. Now that she is graduating college, she wants to sell the dresses.

I bought this one (not on Amazon, but on ebay for a much lower price) and it works great!! We have 6 people in my house, 2 dogs and a cat. My house always smelled like dogs and whatever had been cooked that day. I couldn't stand walking into my house from outside because the smell was so overpowering. I burned candles, plugged in those room deodorizers and sprayed air fresheners like febreeze endlessly. Nothing seemed to work for the smells. After buying this purifier, the musty dog smell was gone within 2 days and now I can smell my candles when they are burning!

This unit is really easy to use. You just plug it in and turn it on and it starts right up. The light turns red when it needs to be cleaned. It doesn't take filters- you just flip open the side and wipe the blades with a damp cloth. That was a huge factor for me. Filters seem to add to the cost of a unit and I knew if I needed filters, I'd be buying them left and right. I think I'd like to get one for my car as well.

I have this one as well. I agree that it works very well. The only caveat is that it bumped up my electricity bill substantially. YMMV

  5. I have the Asus Transformer and love it. The fact that it can become a netbook with the docking station was the selling factor (sometimes, you've just got to mouse). When reading reviews, the fact it had dual cameras was a big sticking point. Personally, I haven't cared enough to figure out how to use either of them. I'm sure dd would love that feature, though.

I can't tell you about sensitivity comparison, because this one is the only one I've used. It gets me where I want to go typically with one touch.

  6. I did research on this tablet before I bought it. What sold me was the docking station. It really adds to the battery life and makes the tablet into a netbook. I had to return the first one I bought. The power button gave up after 2 months of infrequent use. The only way I could turn it on was to plug it in. New one works great. It does come with Kindle software. If you want to watch movies/videos, you'll need earbuds or something. It isn't very loud at the highest setting. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase at regular price. HTH

Call me easily entertained, but I get mesmerized by the live wallpaper on occasion. I downloaded a free one that is a night sky. Every so often you'll see a falling star, space ship, ET or a witch go by.
