  1. I take my daughter shopping on BF. We don't go out early in the morning. We go when we wake up. Normally, I've hit some of the stores I wanted to go to on BF the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving so we just go in for price adjustments. However, we may end up spending some time in stores.

I have her take her Leapster to keep her occupied. Also, we live in AZ so yes, it may be cold but not COLD.

However, I still wonder where people shop that they get so crazy. We have been in busy situations but not insane like some of you desribe. I guess Arizonans don't get as crazy as people in other places.

  2. I agree and coupled with the fact that many people who quite possibly never really cared about watching for sales or shopping for markdowned stuff are happy to buy something at 30-50% off (to them, THAT'S a great deal). So, maybe what IS there during the sale/clearance period is purchased before the price gets axed really deeply.

Maybe.... maybe not. Just a theory!

    That's pretty much my theory.

I know for me, I'll buy it at 30% if it's something I REALLY want. If it's something I kinda want but could maybe live without, I'll buy it at 50%. Now if I can get something I really want at 50% off, I'm a happy girl.

Of course, 75% off is the motherload. :tongue1:

However, I will be dancing a jig if I can get a nice patio set at 75% off. I may be dreaming but I can hope, right?

  3. Just a fyi, the reason that The Children's Place was being accomodating to customers was that they pride themselves on customer service. Now they are beggining to see these sites and see the comments and see how they are being taken advantage of by people. Soon if you guys keep taking advantage of these coupons and goodwill you will have to have the coupon in hand and no bending will occur.

If they want this practice so stop then they need to get firm about it. Obviously they know this is a draw for their stores and web-site. I hardly see how I am taking advantage when my average purchase in there is around $150-$200 (that's for 1 child). I would say 98% of my daughter's clothing comes from there. I don't feel a discount is 'owed' to me but as long as they are available, I would be a fool to not use them. If they quit honoring them, so be it.

And I always make sure I have a coupon in hand. This thread caught my eye because I'm looking for a March coupon. My kiddo needs clothes for our Spring Break trip. :tongue1:

  4. I know they won't guarantee shipping if you don't have PRIME but Amazon does ship quickly. If you have an order that is 'stuck in limbo', I would most definitely call them as web-sites are not fool proof...except GD of course. ;)

I have PRIME and I'm so happy I have it since I am finishing my online shopping tomorrow and know it'll be here on Tuesday.

  5. I agree with all the above people. Please continue, I have been reading this every time I get on here. I think Affrey 66 is saying horrible things. I would have done all the things you did to report this abuse and more. Affrey 66 is sounding mean and hateful and I would ask her to stop posting. That type of attitude does not belong here. Something obviously did happen to the package and the ups man was not blamed, just informed. He was way oyt of line to go in to a place of business and blow up. He should be fired for this action. Keep up the support those of you who are supportive and Affrey 66 go back to where you come from.

Peppysfireball, I have been a member of GD for 2 years now. With 2500+ posts, I don't plan on going anywhere (unless Brad puts me in timeout :P). If you don't like what I write, skip over it.

I am not intending to sound mean and hateful. Yes, the UPS man was spoken to. That is obvious from JCarr's earlier posts. I agree he shouldn't have gone into her place of business. However, I also know there are two sides to every story and I would be interested in the others side to this. I would venture to guess that this UPS driver (any for that matter) would not risk losing their job over a package. And if that was the intent, why on earth would the driver take the trouble to deliver it, untape it and then hide it under the porch?? To any reasonable person, that makes no sense whatsoever.

JCarr, I'm sorry if you feel I'm 'picking' on you nor am I trying to sound mean or hateful. That is NOT my intent nor my desire. I do not have the time or inclination to single out people on here or anywhere else. However, when someone posts on here, I do state my opinion as others do. I don't write my opinions in hopes of gaining approval from others. I write them because this is my perspective and perception of the situation. If someone doesn't agree, then pass over it.

If someone is a business owner and happens to hold an 'official' position in the community, it is completely unacceptable for that individual to use that official position to have someone reprimanded, fired or any other disciplinary action. That is a gross abuse of power.

  6. I'm NOT saying he doesn't have a right to call. As a business owner, most definitely he has a right to call. I'm saying he doesn't have a right to call in his official capacity as Mayor. In her previous posts, she made it appear that since he's the mayor he was going to contact the UPS supervisor in his mayoral capacity. That is not acceptable.
  7. Just how? He is the owner of the business. Its not like he's going to call up ups and say, "hello...this is Mayor so and so, I'm calling in to report a complaint......" I think he is a little smarter than that. And he only said he would be able to talk to the driver when he comes in to the office for a pick up. Not like he's on a tractor driving all over our little town trying to hunt the ups driver down. He is doing what he feels he needs to do to defend his employees...no different than if the ups driver came into city hall and harrassed his secretary or the bill collector in water department inside of city hall...They all work int he same building and his secretary is his employee.

Once again, I was responding based on the information YOU posted. I didn't pull this out of the air. Now you are saying that he told you something different that what you stated in previous posts.

The difference is that if the driver went to City Hall, he could use his capacity as the mayor. As a private business owner calling, it would not be prudent for him to do mention he is the mayor and can and should be construed as an abuse of power.

    Which is it?

  8. I'm now home from work. When I got there this morning, I gave Lori the number to the supervisor and she called her husband. She told me Clinton(her husband) told us not to worry about it, because he was going to handle it. See....that delivery guy picked the WRONG business to walk in to yesterday in a bad mood...Clinton owns the cafe and is also the mayor of our town too. So in other words, the mayor is contacting the supervisor today as the business owner and he is also going to speak to the driver whenever he either makes a deliver or a pickup at his office at city hall. They don't want me to call the supervisor myself, they want to handle it. Which is okay by me. Clinton said he was going to inform the supervisor that the guy has no business stepping foot in the cafe from now on unless its to make a delivery..and ONLY for a delivery, otherwise, he is not welcome there and harrassment will not be tolerated in the future.

I'm still leery about the guy now...so I think from now on, I'm only shipping UPS packages to my mothers house across town or to the cafe only where I have people with me. Sad that it comes to this.

This is what you wrote in your post. You are the one who stated that it would be the 'mayor' calling. If you are not hoping that he will call in his capacity as the mayor of the town in which you live why would you even bring it up?

Absolutely as a business owner he has a right to call and complain. But somehow I wouldn't want my boss to take care of a battle which should be mine and is of a personal nature.
