So sorry to hear that! I hope you'll be able to enjoy this holiday season while remembering the good times. -

I haven't started yet; still trying to get my dds' lists together. dd10, I told, I need her list by the end of the month and dd4, I just haven't started hers really. I have a couple of things in mind like the walk & giggle doll, innotab2 (and accessories) and the graco toy baby high chair, car seat and playpen. dd10 is getting a kindle fire, a Bieber bedroom set and whatever else might be on her list. So, it looks like, I'll be starting end of Sept/mid Oct, which is when I started last year. -
Idk where I should put this, but Walmart unveiled its top toy list: http://news.walmart.com/news-archive/2012/09/14/walmart-unveils-top-toy-list-gives-parents-confidence-to-shop-now-for-the-toys-kids-want-at-everyday-low-prices There's some good info to know, like: 1) they WILL still price match ads when you pick up your layaway & 2) if one of your layaway items goes on sale, they will honor that price if it's still on sale when you pick up.

All this info has been so helpful to me. Thanks everyone!! I have decided to get dd10 a tablet since dd4 has her LeapPad (will be upgraded to a Innotab2 for Christmas). I was leaning towards the nabi2 cause it was specifically for kids, but since coming here and reading all the responses, I have decided on the Kindle Fire for $159. I do like that they'll be introducing Kindle FreeTime soon. So now the big question is: how hard will they be to get as it starts getting closer to Christmas? Well, the holiday shopping season, in general? I don't have the $$ to preorder it now, but I def want to get it by the end of October (or sooner). Since its new, do you think they'll be offering any incentives with it (ex. gc or something bundled like an accessory)?

Bad news for Target shoppers this holiday season...
angelbabymommy replied to ObiRich's topic in 2012
I don't really shop at Target, almost 95% of the time, it's only if they have something on sale/clearance, so this doesn't bother me lol -
And that's the thing....they say what they want, I get it, but then I also get everything "I" want then to have.
-
This is me down to a T...everything you mentioned. I'm not gonna stress over it, I'm gonna actually enjoy the entire holiday season! Not saying that I don't, but I will def be stressing less.
-
If that's something you have to do, then by all means, go for it. Your daughter is already on board, so that's a plus. Your son will come around I'm sure. It may take him a while as he is a little older (and a teen! lol) and is used to getting a lot more.

This is my first year saying it, so hopefully, I have the will power to stick to it. I will start to work on my list in the next couple of weeks and start planning my budget. How old are your children? So they know yet, that this is the plan?
-
I have heard/read about this thru GD last year. I, personally, will not be doing this this year, BUT we will be toning down this year. I tend to go overboard every Christmas and I'm just not gonna do it this year.

Woo hoo! I love it when stores are competing for my money LOL
-
Question: so you still have to put down a 20% deposit; they are just waiving the $5 fee??? I just called my local TRU to ask this question, but they are not open yet.

Midnight opening times on Black Friday this year?
angelbabymommy replied to midnight555's topic in 2012
I, too, wish it would go back to they way it used to be...I mean, I did (still do) go to Kmart on TG and pick up a few of their TG deals for the day.. I would go in the morning (pick up my paper while I was out, even tho I already knew what would be on sale thanks to GD lol) and come back and enjoy my whole TG day with my family, eating, chatting, laughing, looking thru the paper. I loved not having to get up until about 230, 3 am to head to the stores to shop. Now, it's just crazy!!! -
Thanks!!! I was just coming to post lol ...they also announced it on their fb page.

Walmart has updated its fb page with a link to sign up to get a ticket to be able to start your layaway 2 days in advance (9.14) at your local store.

Brad, I also saw it here: http://realthanksgiving.com/2012/08/2012-black-friday-store-opening-times-announces/ I still agree with you, tho. -
It's on the red flyer thing; the small print at the bottom...

angelbabymommy replied to midnight555's topic in 2012
As far as Walmart, I agree with pp...I can't imagine them going back to midnight "opening" (even tho I wish they would), when last year they started earlier (disaster, imo) -
I just read the flyer and it said "layaway available 9.16-12.14 EXCLUDING 11.23 (Black Friday)"
