  1. Board games are good or even DVD games...i would also opt to something local for them such as the amusement park or maybe they have a local skate arena. If they have a pottery store where they pick out what pottery they want(they have items for female and male), paint it, they leave it there to fire in the kelm and they pick it up a week later. Movie tickets coupon book for their local theatre. Local photo place...JCPenney, Sears, etc for a family portrait that they could send out pictures
  2. I have purchased only one gift....lounge pants for my son....that's it. Christmas is only 3 weeks away and I haven't started nor do I feel like it. My husbands b-day falls Nov. 30th and the BF deals were for him. Just wanted to know if anybody else is waiting to start or if they just don't feel like starting.
  3. not alot of craft items needed for this but it's a good g'parents gift... A Memory Jar. All you would need to do is... You and the children think and then write down any memory of the grandparents, old or new. It could be going on a vacation with them, a special dinner, making cookies, a saying they might say to you etc...anything that they were involved in somehow. After making a list type them up on the computer, spacing them out nicely, and then use different colored paper to print them out on. Once printed out then cut them into strips. You can decorate the strips with little cut outs, or pictures, stickers, etc. Find a nice jar, I suggest a clear one with a lid, and then place the stripes in the jar. You can decorate the jar as well with ribbon or stickers or pictures. You now have your memory jar for the g'parents. Every day they pull a new strip out and they will have good time remember that special memory and a smile that will last all day.
  4. Mine are too old unfortuanelty, but I still put a few things from Santa under the tree. I even buy myself something small and put from Santa. My family thinks I am crazy, but they let me have my fun and go along with it.
  5. These are all great ideas and I thank everyone of you for letting me know
  6. Please help. I recently have seen the Guitar Hero 2 out in stores but I am looking for the guitar hero 1. I personally like the music in the first one so if I am going to have to hear the children (son and husband) playing it, I want to hear something I know and like. Anyone seen it out in the stores at a good price or a good place on line. Thanks for your help.
  7. About $275 but if I purchased it another day it would have been almost $600..not bad. Not a lot of good sales, but it wasn't bad
  8. About a week after Thanksgiving. I start writing them out T-day and about a week later they are finished and ready to go. Not too early but not late.
  9. 2 step children. One lives with us and one lives in another state with his mother which we never see him (long story, custody battle for going on 7 years). Unfortunately the one that lives with us gets all the gifts. The out of state child gets nothing, sad isn't? We tried sending money, but the mother takes it herself, and the gifts we have sent, we don't know what she does to them, but the child never gets them. Now, we have a closet full of b-day gifts and x-mas gifts for him. We keep hoping that one of these days we get to see him and give all the gift to him, but we haven't had any luck yet.
  10. I wrap as I go. In the past I purchase X-mas wrap from the school fundraisers so I have a unique variety. I have purchased enough in past to last me the next 5 years. Each person gifts are wrapped with different X-mas paper and I rotate the X-mas paper so there are as many different kinds as possible. I have started to collect the Sunday Comic section as additional wrapping paper. I usually use the comics through out the year for B-days, Anniversarys, and at X-mas time. I also plan one last day about a week before X-mas to do any final shopping and I also pick up little extras items then too. I go home turn on the radio or put on CD's and turn up the volume have a wrap and jam session.
  11. Luckily this year there wasn't hardly any left overs for us. We gave a little to everyone that was here. we have just enough to make a few sandwhiches or just to snack on. :)
  12. Each year differs. It depends what is on the list and how much the items are. This year it looks like about 3 or 4. Last year just 2.
  13. Now that the day is over, did you get what you wanted? Details!!! Who'd you go with? I went to... Best Buy - went mainly for a camcorder, went to purchase found out needed a ticket. Not advertised or noted as a ticket item otherwise I would have camped out. Very upset at first but then he pulled one out from a different stock that wasn't locked up. Extremely happy with that service, hopefully it was an extra also got a few movies that I wanted and some DVC's K-mart - no probs here...went for Boys Joe Boxer Lounge Pants, B1G1F and soda Mendards - MIL wanted this one....we parked with no prob but walked in and then right back out...the line for the register went around half the store, she went for the DVD player and said it wasn't worth waiting in line that long Target - bed clothes here.... they had the flat sheet and pillow cases but couldn't find the pillow cases but could find fitted sheet. looked for awhile and finally asked someone to see if they had more...stated everything is out but double checked..found 2 in so I got one and the 2nd was gone a few seconds later also a game UNO ATTACK ...huge selection of games on a flat bed cart.....none there or on the shelf....looked around the shelving area and found one that was stuffed behind another game Craft Sales - went to 3 different ones....NOTHING at all very disappointed in them this year usally find some cute off the way items I went with my mother in law...had a great time...no problems...didn't wait long to check out anywhere...didn't run into any crabby, mean, nasty shoppers....... went home and relaxed then went out that evening with my husband I must say that later that night I went to TARGET and they were out of many items...they at least were giving out rainchecks...normally don't see that for BF items...I was impressed
  14. no not yet...I should be instead of playing on the net
  15. I love my dad with all I have, but he just drives me crazy. I think the gift card will have to do, but I'm not happy with that.
  16. Every year my father ALWAYS ask for the same thing for Christmas, cologne. I AM TIRED of buying cologne for him. If he wants something he just buys it so there really isn't anything he needs or wants. He doesn't have any hobbies and he doesn't collect anything. I thought of gift cards for places he eats, but I don't like to show an actual value, even though that may be my last resort. Any help from anyone, PLEASE.
  17. thanks for the ideas. I like the dvd game. I just saw a comercial for Scene it. Maybe i will try that.
  18. I would like your suggestions on what to do for entertainment. This will be my first time hosting T-day and I would like to have an activity or acitivities for us all to do. We could argue over what to watch on TV or argue over what movie to watch, but I would like some other entertaining ideas. There will be 5/6 adults and a 12 year old who thinks he is 20something and not a lot of room, we live in a trailer.
  19. my 12 year old thinks he needed one. I agreed to get him one since he is responsible, but he had to pay for the monthly bill. He changed his mind pretty quick. All his friends have one and that is why he thought he needed one. I can see it maybe more when he is older around 15/16
  20. Here is a suggestion if the children are wanting to get mom or dad something with a personal touch. Sit down with the children and have them think of memories they have had with mom/dad. Ideas can be simple ones such as a certain meal they assited with, or a vacation, etc... After writing down all ideas, you can include some of your own, type them up. Print them on different colored paper and then have the kids cut them out in strips. Purchase an inexpensive jar and place a ribbon around the top. Fold the colored strips and place in jar. You now have a memory jar. Everyday mom/dad grabs a strip and reads it. Mom/dad have a smile and a memory that will last the whole day.
  21. nothing here, usually enough left overs and with the children and pictures not enough time. Once presents are open it's a defend for yourself day. I have done a breakfast cassarole once, but too much excitement and no one ate til lunch.
  22. I never have, but this will be my 1st year. Step mom is having surgery a week before and won't be able to do it this year, so I volunteered. It will be nice to have both sides over and only have one meal instead of trying to make it to both sides and be miserable all day. Turkey Ham Potataoes corn Green Bean Cassarole Rolls cheesecake apple pie
  23. none that I have found. I haven't seen any nor have I heard of any. I was told sony wouldn't and stores wouldn't due to it just coming out.
  24. Most of my friends and family think I am crazy so shopping on BF isn't any different than what they already think. I have gotten my 60 year old parents into it. They complain every year about doing it, but they still go the next year. I usually hate to shop, but on BF it's a new game, where can I go and get the best deals and how many places can I hit for EB specials. My husband and others still think I am crazy for getting up that early and freezing my behind off standing in line to get into my first store.
  25. I use to never be able to go on BF due to work. The first year I had a blast and nothing bothered me. Over the years the deals didn't seem that important, but for the past 4 -5 years they have been improving. I don't get up and get dolled up. I go in comfortable shoes and clothes, with a hat. It p's me off when I go to the stores and people are just rude and nasty. I am in a wonderful, let the season begin, mood and being around me trying to get good deals are moaning and groaning. If it bothers them so much with the crowds, or lines, or running out of what they wanted, maybe they should go before or after and not worrying about saving some cash. I love to go for the rush of hopefully getting what I want at a much better rate. That way, I can spend more on them or maybe buy myself something. I have don't that and wrapped it up and put from Santa or my husband. My husband was quite confused when I opened the first gift I bought myself but it was from him. He didn't remember buying it so it was kind of funny and then I explained good deals on BF and found a few things for me too.
