No way. Not fair to the kids. THey look forward to xmas. I have a xmas club I put 25 a week in and I preorder stuff and layaway on top of that. No worries on paying for it . I have a new granddaughter, 8 weeks old, and I'm going to go overboard big time on here. I have already bought my 6 and 8 granddaughters tablets, they shipped. today. Got a kindle fire preordered for my daughter. I usually buy about 12 presents apiece and 4 is just not going to happen in my home. I bought that many for the boy I had never met that my son brought here last year.

Since that only works with the expensive model. I preordered the expensive model and am paying on it. The week before it ships, I will cancel that preorder and the money will go back in my amazon account. I will then just purchase the kindle outright on amazon. I will not buy a kindle from walmart. If you buy from amazon you have until january 31 to return, walmart only allows 2 weeks. Also no tax and amazon has much better customer service that far outweighs any benefits walmart may offer.

They are allowed to put gift cards with it , but you will not find any of the new kindles on sale. Amazon will probably have lightning sales on the old models, they are known to do that, but you won't have advance notice of it. Amazon doesn't 'have sales. Just the lightning sales and the kindles don't go on sale, especially the new ones. I preordered mine, and I buy a gift card every week and apply it to the order. When teh kindle is released, the kindle will be paid for, I did the same thing with my son's fire last year. It's always best to buy straight from amazon. Amazon will accept return of a xmas kindle up until January 31. No other retailer will. THere are people now reporting problems with kindles on amazon who bought them from target and took them back to target. Target won't give their money back. Amazon won't give money back because they weren't bought from them. They will replace the kindle, but the people wanted their money back. If you buy from amazon, you get a discount anyway because you don't have to pay tax.

I think your son would love a tablet. One like the kindle fire maybe. My 15 year old has a gateway laptop, but he says his kindle fire is the best xmas present he has ever gotten in his life. We have netflix which he watches anytime he wants, he loves that tablet. I was so impressed I bought my 10 year old grandson one for his bday in april. IT wasnt' the fire, it was a cheaper pandigital, but he never put it down the whole time he was here. THey are so much more fun than a computer. As for lists, I don't start them until I get a lot of presents bought. I have been picking up things here and there, but nothing major. My 23 year ld daughter wants a kindle and I'm waiting on that, there is speculation on new models soon. My sons haven't said and I have a 3 week old grand daughter, will just buy her anything I see. Yes, make sure there isn't a program in town first. Our town has a church that gets the supply list from the school for the k-6 grades and buys all the supplies for the whole school. We are a town of about 3000 so that is a lot of kids. YOu won't believe how many parents won't go get them because they are in a church. They come in a nice reuseable shopping bag too. The neighboring town also does a stuff the bus thing. You have to sign up for it. The one in our town however, the church has a list of every kid from the school and you just go pick up your supplies, no hassles.

Amazon has been catching people and cancelling accounts. Those with digital content lose their content forever. I wouldn't risk it. You can't even add a family member unless they live in your home.

Sorry, Actually it was number 24 in tablets and number 52 in electronics , so not even close to top 5 sellers in amazon. The top 5 sellers in amazon are the kindles for one. The Top 5 selling tablets on Amazon are number one the kindle fire, number 2 the samsung galaxy2 7 inch, number 3 the asus transformer, number 4 , samsumg galaxy 2 10 inch, and number 5 the ipad 2. I don't even see that LePan anywhere on the first page and have never heard of it. Today it's down on number 37. My son has the Kindle fire and plays with it every day. He is 15 and tells me it's the best thing he's ever had. SInce he has about everything, that's saying something. My oldest son has the Ipad and he likes it too, but I would stick with the wll known and bestsellers like the fire or the galaxy.

You sideload it using getjar. I'm on the amazon forums every day. THere a lot of apps you can sideload easily, like the kobo app even. Also to the poster who said you get free books using prime membership. Prime members do NOT get any kind of discounts on books. YOu can borrow one book a month, but any book that is free is free for everyone. There are an average of 300 -400 free books free everyday. The only kindle benefits available for prime members are the 1 book a month for borrowing and the free video streaming. I see so many people upset on the kindle forums everyday because they are pushing the buy button thinking that book is free because they are a prime member and they don't understand it's not free to buy.

The fire isn't limited to amazon books. you can put a nook app on it and read your nook books also. My son has one and said it's the best present he's ever gotten in his entire life and he has every gaming system there is.

Don't pay attention to the 11.04 price. Go to more buying options and it shows as available from amazon for 4.13. i made that mistake myself.It's showing a 3rd party seller when you click on the link.

Amazon sells refurbished in their outlet also. I guess from teh library you could use several different models. I'm prejudiced. I ahve a kindle keyboard and my son has a fire. One phone call to amazon with a problem and they send out a new one. Can't beat their customer service. They may sell a baby kindle refurbished. YOu'd have to look in the outlet or call them. They offer them to previous kindle owners at a discounted price of 40 or 60 depending on the model.

never heard of an ereader that cheap, even the cheapos. THe cheapest kindle is 79 and that is barebones with half the space and half the battery life. I don't recommend any other ereader, you have to realize the reader goes with where you want to buy books. If you buy books from amazon, you have to use the kindle, If you buy from barnes and noble you have to buy the nook, if you only buy from sony, you have to buy a kobo. You can't buy a reader from one place and books from another.

Yes, it is but not 4 guests. When I had amazon mom I could only have 1 guest. I don't think a guest should pay an equal part of the cost, because the only part of prime they can share is the shipping. They don't get the free video streaming or the book lending. THe account holder gets much more use out of it than the guests.

I cancelled my order. Found it cheaper on amazon plus it comes with ultraviolet copy. Maybe find something else later.
