Got mine today! Thanks for the hat, bottle opener, pens, paper, cards, and $5 Amazon gift card. I'm going to use that to replace my payment methods so I can continue to get apps for my devices without exposing a credit card. The awsomeness of this package was only dimmed by two things... 1. A new iPhone 7 was waiting for me at work this morning 2. Expecting this almost got me to bite on a phish I was expecting the phone and this package, so when I got an email from USPS saying that delivery was not accepted, please click here... I was almost tempted. Anyway, I viewed the source and googled the underlying links and decided the message was a scam. Be aware -- we are all probably going to be expecting packages in the coming month!

TVs are ALWAYS on sale, but, yes, I bought my 60" plasma the Friday before a Superbowl. Felt like Malcolm Butler bringing that one home.

http://mashable.com/2015/10/19/nintendo-nes-launch-atari/#GHDtdkGpkkq8 It's come to this! I'm 54 years old. I never remember not having a television and I have been playing video games for nearly as long. My first experience with a video game was a pong machine in the foyer of our local department store (Forest Hills). I could barely reach the knobs, but the line on the screen moved if you turned the knob even if you did not have a quarter. I played the heck out of that knob. A few years later, home consoles arrived. My first was a telstar console which had a bunch of those pong type games on it. By the time I turned 16, Salisbury Beach's arcades were full of quarter gobbling video games. Then the Atari 2600 arrived to save us all! Nintendo released their console in the US on Oct. 18, 1985. It would soon crush all comers. Over the years, Nintendo has accumulated a large library of intellectual property and re-released popular games with each new console. I'm not going to buy one of these. I imprinted on the Atari 2600 then had Atari 8-bit computers before succumbing to the siren call of IBM. I still have quite a few Atari computers and a Flashback 6. If someone would release an Atari 800 Classic with HDMI out, I would definitely own one within two hours. Still, paying $200 for this seems ... well ... impulsive. There will be infinite stock of these. Bed Bath and Beyond will let you use a 20% off coupon to buy one. Also, a fun alternative might be to install an emulator on a computer (Raspberry PI?) and pick up a classic controller ported to USB. Don't despair.

I would make a list of any laptops/televisions from the ads, read reviews, research current and recent prices, see the devices in person (if possible) and create a short list of items and the 'right price'. Then I would buy the first items which were close to your target price ASAP. You can always return unopened items if you get a better deal.

Will the outcome of the election impact how you spend during Black Friday week?
len_mullen replied to Brad's topic in 2016
No change here. I am, however, shopping for a new vehicle and the election will mildly affect my decisions on this purchase. -
I haven't shopped at Kohls for some time. They have added a lot of exclusions and fine print and it's just not worth the effort. We will shop the markdowns when we get a 30/40% off coupon in the mail, but I will not be in line on BF. Love your sig!

You have to define reasonably priced and gaming laptop for us.

I would not buy a pentium period. It is a low end core i3 which is Intel's budget processor. Same for celerons. In fact, I would get an i5. It's the best value in Intel processors each generation. This laptop is $450. Let's check out what you can get for less than $500... Dell Business Dell Inspiron 15 5000 15.6" Core i5 Laptop w/ 8GB, 1TB $499.00 Staples HP 14" Core i5 Laptop w/ 12GB, 1TB $389.99 Staples HP 15.6" Pavillon Core i5 Laptop w/ 8GB, 1TB $479.99 Amazingly, there are a couple i7's in that range... Sam's Club HP 15.6" Core i7 7th Gen Laptop w/ 16GB, 1TB $499.00 If you can spend a little more, I really like this... Dell Home Dell Inspiron 17 5000 17.3" Core i5 Laptop w/ 8GB, 1TB $549.99 I'm looking at this. A 17" screen is great for two pages side by side which makes it easy to have google or a pdf open on one side while your student is composing his own work on the other. It will save you the hassle and expense of a second monitor. It's going to be a little bigger to carry about and battery life will not be as good for so big a screen, but it is an admirable 'portable desktop'. Here is your portable optical disc... Staples Verbatim External Slimline CD/DVD Writer $29.99

Then you should know. Some deals are pretty pedestrian and others are very good. It's about time for a top ten deals contest. If that were live, I would go with these... Vizio E50 70" 4K Ultra HD SmartCast Home Theater Display $928.00 Staples Samsung 27" Curved LED Monitor $179.99 Staples Dell 27" IPS LED Monitor $139.99 Staples Samsung 27" Wide-Screen LED Monitor $149.99 Staples AOC 24" LED Monitor $84.99 Staples Dell 24" IPS LED Monitor $99.99 Staples Samsung 24" Wide-Screen LED Montior $99.99 Staples Samsung 24" Curved LED Monitor $129.99 Roku 2 Digital HD Streaming Media Player $44.99Staples Amazon Fire TV Stick $29.99 It's early, but all of these are great deals.

I have stopped using my laser except for day-to-day prints where quality is not important or things I plan to carry outside. Consider a Canon mx922 instead. Sign up for meritline's newsletter for specials which generally ship free. http://www.meritline.com/canon-pgi-250-plus-cli-251-ink-compatible-high-yield-with-new-chip-combo-5---p-107326.aspx 1 Set (5 Cartridges) Canon PGI-250XL + CLI-251XL Compatible High Yield Inkjet Cartridges With New ChipCombo: One Each of Pgi Black, Cli Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow1 Set (5 Cartridges) SKU: 125-447-001$14.95Was:$29.95 Save:$15.00 (50.08%) Free Shipping The black cart used for text is waterproof (for smudge free highlighting). The mx922 runs for $60 to $90. It's $69.99 in this Staples ad. If you recycle ink at Staples, the net cost of the carts is $1 per.

I'm surprised you have not reserved that domain.

What's a normal sale? We've been in recession for ten years. Everything has been on sale for six years. You really should not be looking through the ads for deals. Instead, make a list of the things you want or need, read reviews to cull out makes and models that appeal to you, check the deal sites for recent best prices, then compare to the BF ads. We are within the return/rebuy period for most stores, so, if you see a good deal on something you want, buy it. If you can top that price on BF or any other day, price match or return and rebuy.

You KNOW I love you, Pnambic, but a laptop is the best choice for academics. Today, the premium is not great. The student can move the machine from the kitchen table to their bedroom to a meeting place.

Ironic timing. Replacing things during Black Friday.
len_mullen replied to Megara211's topic in 2016
I will likely buy a Keurig coffee maker at Staples on BF. I need one for the shelf as all of mine are out making coffee. With rewards, discounts, rebates, gift cards, and all, Staples is the place to be on BF. -

Surprised there is no Official Appliances topic. BF is a GREAT time to replace a washer and dryer. -
We are AT&T customers with three iPhone 5S phones. We are not on any kind of new-every-two plan and our phones work fine. One of my kids wants to replace his 5S with an SE. I have used this phone and it is much better than the 5S, but I wonder if I should be waiting on an SE version of the iPhone 7. My kid says no because of the lack of a phone jack. I am thinking of getting the SE and putting the SE on a new number for me. AT&T says that I will only have to pay for the phones and $15/month to add a line. SO... What do you guys think of the SE? Should I wait for an iPhone 7 SE? Should I expect a deal from AT&T over the holidays? Should I be looking somewhere else for a deal?

I don't believe this.EVERYTHING is not political. Cash-for-Clunkers sucked money out of a holiday season. Bumper stickers will not. There are problems in retail which are long standing and will not be quickly cured, but they are about saturation, lack of innovation, a decade long recession, and the falling number of babies being born to American families. None of these things will go away after the election. There WILL be bargains, so don't blow your savings on the first pretty girl that flirts with you.

Staples and Kohls are the only stores I would wait in line for, so those. I'm interested in the 'guaranteed' page of the Walmart flyer.

http://i.gottadeal.com/main/images/merch/prizepack.jpg As a smug winner, I am excited to see this package. I just put a GD magnet on a coworker's cubicle -- he got gas for $0.80/gallon this week. The hats -- especially the knit ones -- will stand out as FW'ers wait in line (great selfie opportunity if Brad wants to have a contest for people who HAVE won). You can never have too many bottle openers (though I hear glass bottles will be leaving us soon) and my wife will be VERY happy to see coasters show up on HER furniture. Drink Koozies would be nice. Fanny packs too. Draw string bags that pull over the shoulders. USB battery chargers for the long time away from a charger.

I agree with most of the article, but BF is not dead and will not die until EVERY B&M has a complete online infrastructure. The reason for Black Friday is not the sales. The reason for Black Friday is that it is the long weekend before Christmas. For working people, it is the first reasonable chance to get some shopping done. Because of this, there are a lot of consumers in the stores. Because of this, there is more money spent. Because of this, retailers compete more fiercely. They KNOW a lot of Christmas money will be spent that weekend and want as much of it as possible. The name itself affirms this. This weekend, because of the volume of sales, puts most retailers in the Black for the year (i.e, they are profitable. If Black Friday is dead, so are retailers. Happy Black Friday One and All!
