  1. If you have a Big Lots around I know they usually get in a bunch of Fossil watches on BF for $20 I think. My mother used to make that our first stop just for the watches. Hope this helps!

    Hobby Shops

I know our Hobby Lobby (the craft store) has model trains and a few RC things....never really looked at them. I know some of the trains they carry are $400-500 and they have a 40% off a regular priced item coupon on their website a lot. They very well may have RC boats. You may check them out and keep an eye out for them. I'll look at ours and see if they have anything like that, they carry a little more of that stuff around christmas and the coupon is an awesome deal.
  3. If I can't get the ad early I'm not going to go. I have to plan BF at least a week in advance to get everyone cordinated and decide where we go. I'm not going to rearrange my plans on T-day if they have something I want. I'm going to call and email them. I was on the look out for a new tv and figured I would get it there but now I'm going to go where I know the deals are. They are really shooting themselves in the foot IMO. They already have a sorry CS rap, this is just going to make it plain and clear that they have forgotten why they exist. They exist b/c of the customers and if the customers leave they won't be in a very good position.
  4. I saw some kids costumes at the Dollar Tree. They had a princess, a witch and something else for girls (don't remember) and a boy's pirate costume. They looked just fine and $1 sure beats the prices everywhere else. They also had a bunch of masks and fairy or ballerina skirts. My SIL picked up the princess costume for my niece and it looks good and the quality is fine for a costume or dress up.
  5. A 9 year old probably would think it's too childish and if he is actually wanting to learn to take pictures I would find a cheaper adult digital camera for him, the quality of the pictures will be a lot better and he's probably responsible enough to handle a "real" camera. You should be able to get him a 3mp camera for around a $100, maybe even less now that 5-8mp has become the standard. It's more expensive but I can guarantee in a few years he won't want to use a "kid" camera. I bought this camera for my 4 year old niece and it's great for her because when she drops it it's not automatically broken and she mostly just takes pictures of her cat and random things around the house so the quality really doesn't matter, but an older kid will probably want use it for vacation photos and things where you want decent quality.
  6. My favorite memory from BF 06 was with the Cabbage Patch Dolls at Walmart. I go with my mom and my aunt so we scout out the store and decide who stands where to grab what and they decided I should grab the Cabbage Patch Dolls and the Little people playset since I am really small and could maneuver through the skinny aisle. I was grabbing a few for my aunt for her daughters when I saw one with my same first and middle name for my angel tree child :) It made me smile. The best part though was after I got my dolls and the little people sets I see this woman who didn't look like she was in the best of physical health standing off to the side straining to see the dolls. I asked her if I could help her and she said she wanted one of the dolls for her granddaughter she's raising but couldn't get through the crowd. I got back in the crowd and wasn't able to get her one before they were all gone. When I came back out and told her they were gone she started to tear up and said that was the one nice toy her granddaughter was gonna get that year and then thanked me for trying and started to push her empty cart away. I went after her and offered her the one for I had picked out for the angel tree child. She gave me the bigest hug (which kinda freaked out me mom and my aunt). I was glad to help her out. Then in the checkout line the lady ahead of me was counting her dolls and realized she had one too many and gave it back to the cashier so I snatched it up. It was great, everyone got what they wanted!
  7. You sound like me, only an inch taller lol! I'm always the one everyone has duck under everything to get what we want. Only 2 months!
  8. If BB does have a deal on 22" monitors I bet they'll be under $179 b/c the second week of august they had 22" Westinghouse for $179, I bought 2! I didn't want to try to get one on BF and the closest BB is an hour away. They specs weren't super great but I fired up Photoshop (I'm a proffesional photographer) and the color depth was wonderful. I ordered one online and when I saw how it looked I drove to the store to buy another one! It's also great for World of Warcraft...I guess I'll never grow up!
  9. I've never tried to do a CC look-up there, but I was told that if the item was under $20 they would give cash back w/o a reciept but over that they've always given me a gift card. On another note, watch the people who are doing the return. I had to exchange a PC game I had bought for my dad, it was still unopened and I had the reciept. I went back to electronics to look for the game but they didn't have it and when I got back to CS they had opened the one I had brought in to make sure it was all there. I wanted to go ahead and keep the game and give it with the receipt so he could exchange it (it was only a few days before christmas) and it took me forever to convince the lady at the counter that since she had opened it I could not try to exchange it at another wal-mart. They finally had to call a manager who let me get another copy of the one I brought in so it could be exchanged elsewhere. I've heard of them doing this with sealed dvds and cds which then means your out of luck if you want to exchange it elsewhere. I also tried to exchange a doll house for a different one w/o a reciept and the opened it up and broke some of the pieces forcing them out of the box and then tried to blame it on me when I got back to CS with the one I wanted. I tried to explain to them that it hadn't even been openned, I had just bought the wrong one but they insisted that I had put it all back in the box incorrectly and that's why they broke it. They refused to get a manager so I walked to the side, called CS and asked to talk to a manager. I asked him if he would meet me at CS to handle a dispute. He was really confused that I was calling from within the store. He got it handled for me and I got the doll house I wanted but it took over an hour. Now DH goes and gets the exchanges and I watch the CS ppl with my cell camera ready in case they break anything else I bring in. I would shop elsewhere but there really isn't anywhere else to shop within 70 miles of where I like...
  10. ~(1) CHI LIMITED EDITION FLAT IRON($119.99):)TREAT FOR ME:) They are really nice straightening irons for your hair. They are used a lot in professional salons and are absolutely wonderful! I had no idea Walgreens carried them. I doubt it is exactly like the ones used in salons because my mother owns a salon and said hers are almost $300. If they are like the pro ones that's one heck of a deal, I'm going to have to go look now!
  11. Technically they don't accept scans but yes they will ring up if the cashier will take it. It's kinda like using expired coupons, if they cashier takes they will usually ring up but if the cashier catches it they can refuse to take it. I've never used a scanned coupon but I used to work in retail and I would see them from time to time. Most of the time I accepted them unless they were for the 10% discount when opening an account because we would get in trouble for using those. We never had to actually turn in most of the coupons since they were from the company, the only ones I remember having to turn in were the credit card discount ones. That's why a lot of stores that have coupons in their circular will just scan the same circular for customers without the coupon. I hope this helps!
  12. I have found that the smaller regular walmarts seem to have better clearance than the supercenters, at least where I live. I have several of both near me and very rarley do I find good stuff at the supercenters but I can always get a good bargain at the regular walmarts. I've also found this while traveling around the country. I think it may be that more people go to the supercenter than the smaller ones. The other day I found the black boxed i-dog from BF behind the regular white boxed ones. The black box was $10 and the white box ones were regular price. I also found several of the men's cashmere sweaters that had been $35 either on or around BF for $5.
  13. I got a coach bag that was $218 for $65 I think...My mother was with me and ended up getting it for me for my birthday! I wasn't going to get for fear the hubby would kill me for getting another handbag!
  14. What a find! I'll be hitting my walmart tonight! Was it marked on the shelves or did you just scan the packages? I would love to find these but I won't have enough time to scan each package. Oh, and are the pizzas the ones in the multipack with differnt flavors or are they individual? My husband and I love taking pizzas to work and that would make one heck of a cheap lunch!
  15. I haven't been able to find the vanity or tables but I did find a great deal on some Ariel toys for my goddaughter. I don't remember what it was called but it's an Ariel fold-up playset that comes with small Ariel and Eric dolls and when opened up is a big castle. It was on the clearance rack of toys reg. 39.99, clearance, 19.99 but rang up 9.99. I would have gone back and see what else was half of the marked price but that particular kmart doesn't have the scanners. They had lots of Doodlebears and some disney princess dress up accesories and a lot more that I can't think of. If your lucky enough to have scanners in your kmart it might be worth a run through the clearance toys to see what deals there are.
  16. We have a month-to-month plan. I've turned it off and back on a few times (we only use it for vacations) and they always let me pay 1 month at a time. I think it's 14.99 or something like that. I know you can ask them for a trial membership and sometimes they'll give it to you, it seemd to depend on the mood of whoever you talk to. We couldn't live without it on our cross country trips every christmas, we even get it in the Rocky Mountains.
  17. There are several places that will scan negatives for you. Some profesional photographers will (I do). Make sure you check prices though! You may also want to check online and see if you can find a service to do it, if your comfortable shipping your negatives off somewhere that is. My only other suggestion would be to see if there is a photography class at a college near you and see if a student would do it (they would probably charge a little bit but probably not as much as a profesional would). Just be careful as students can be a little fickle and it may take a while and most of them don't have the insurance if something happens to the negatives. Most professional photographers, myself included, carry insurance in case something happens to your negatives (fire, flood, other terrible situations). You may be looking at quite a bit of money depending on who you use. I've seen it run $1 per negative strip to $1 per negative. I hope this helps!
  18. I wouldn't recommend getting them put on cd. Most places (haven't looked at all of them) put the pictures on the cd at 72 dpi resolution. The minimum for good clear prints is 300 dpi. I would recommend getting prints made and scanning those in of you are wanting digital copies. If you are only wanting to view the pictures on your computer then I suppose the cd would fine but I wouldn't recommend trying to print off of one. BTW I am a professional photographer so I do actually know about this. You may also check and see if your scanner will scan negatives. Some of the higher end scanners come with negative attachments so you can do it yourself with a decent photo editing program.
  19. I just talked to our layaway dept. and they said that since layaway is being phased out today that their computers will not be able to give the sale prices on BF items in LAW. She said that normally it would automatically find the sale price and give it to you but that their computers will not be updating prices after today. I live in Oklahoma so I don't know if this is regional but since everyone is phasing out LAW I wouls thin kit would be the same everywhere. BTW I got my BF ad in today and I will scan it in and post it in the correct forum as soon as I get it done. It looks like all of the items are the same as the one up now but some prices are a little lower or a little higher but that may be a regional thing as walmarts have diferent prices all over the country (I travel to Oregon every christmas and know this to be true). Good Luck!
  20. The one I always go has had $20 Fossil watches. They were new in the cute little tins. They usually run $70-100+ at The Buckle. Styles do vary though and they usually only have 5-10. Good thing is that they didn't advertise it around here the last couple of years so while everyone else busted the door down for $1.99 Barbies we got to the watches.
