  1. Honestly, I think you will have a better chance scoring a deal on a desktop, moreso than a laptop on BF. Although I was in need of a laptop last year and was not going to wait in Best Buy's line (which started around 8am on T-day), I managed to get a deal online from CompUSA. There were several retailers that had online deals leading up to BF, so you should be in good shape. Hope this helps!
  2. Aside from using my debit card, the only money I need with me for BF is if I want to get some coffee and either a donut or bagel.
  3. Some of the things that I will have would include my MP3 player, other ads, and my shopping list.
  4. Last year, we attempted to go to the Jackson Outlets; however, everyone else got the same idea and sat in traffic for almost 15 minutes before we decided to turn around. When they first came up with the idea in 2006, we had no problem getting to the outlets and found a number of great deals with only a handful of stores having a longer wait to check out. If I remember correctly, there were weekend-long sales at all of the Premium Outlet Centers; but each day was a different sale at each store. Hope this helps!
  5. I know that a few of the GameStop stores in my area have Wii systems in stock; however, they are encouraging their customers to trade in those games and systems that are not being used towards the Wii so that they do not have to pay $250. As a former employee of EB Games/GameStop for over 7 years, I can tell you that you are better off selling those unwanted games and systems on eBay, compared to what GameStop will offer you as trade credit.
  6. Since my wife usually does the Xmas shopping for her family, I usually have no problem finding things for myself of BF. However, if I can find things that are on someone's list, I will make it a point to pick it up if it is still in-stock.
  7. BF is considered a paid holiday at my company.
  8. I agree, I would wait until the week of BF or Cyber Monday to make a purchase. Last year, I purchased a laptop from CompUSA on Thanksgiving Day when I found out how long the line was at Best Buy for the BF Doorbusters.
  9. Although I prefer to shop at Targer, rather than Kmart or Wal-Mart, their return/exchange policy leaves a lot to be desired. I am in agreement with everyone who says to deal directly with a manager instead of a $7/hr part-timer. There have been times where the store manager will refuse to budge on certain return and exchange issues; however, I've found that by getting either the corporate office or district manager involved will work.
  10. I usually pre-order items from Gamestop where I have to pick up the merchandise in-store. After working in the video game business for over 7 years, I have seen my share of customers who have become enraged when they find out that they will not receive their merchandise when it is supposed to come in. This is due to either the item being "short-shipped" from the manufacturer or an employee who sells it to another customer.
  11. I cannot see the next ad coming out until sometime around the 3rd week of October.
  12. My brother-in-law's children will go through the ads will either make a list of what they want or simply circle the items in the ads so we know what store they can be found.
  13. The only place that I know of that is open on Thanksgiving is Kmart. I do recall my wife and my mother-in-law going there a few years ago when they first started this trend and only bought one or two things. Last year, we stopped at CVS to pick up a few things so that we could wait in line at other places.
  14. I am in agreement with those who wait for the ads first. In the past, my wife would wait at either KB Toys or Toys R Us, while I would wait at either Best Buy or Staples.
  15. The only tradition that my wife and I have are to meet up for either breakfast or lunch once all of the "doorbuster" deals have concluded and we will share our notes.
  16. Last year, my wife and I attempted to go to the outlets at 11:30pm; however, the amount of traffic prohibited us to make it to the stores. As a result, we went to KB Toys for their midnight sale. Once we finished there, my wife went to Target for their 5am sale, while I was at Staples for their 6 am sale. We would meet again a few hours later for breakfast and then some shopping at Best Buy before heading home by lunch time.
  17. I have several pet peeves when it comes to BF. One of which, like others in this thread, is those that cut in line. Another is not having enough stock to meet the demand of those who waited for hours in line to purchase. Third, I do not appreciate stores who staff employees who cannot handle long lines and pressure-type situations. I can tell you from experience that if a cashier does not bring their "A-game" on BF, they could be in serious trouble.
  18. For the past couple of years, I have shopped with my wife on Black Friday. Although she will shop with her mother at certain places, I have no problem standing in line in places like Best Buy or Staples for items that I need.
  19. Hello Everyone! My name is Matt and I live in Mount Laurel, New Jersey (South Jersey). I will be 36 years old this year and recently graduated from DeVry University with a B.S. in Business Administration. My wife and I have been married for almost 7 years and we love to go shopping. I worked in the retail business for over 10 years, 8 of which were spent in a shopping mall, so I have a pretty good idea as to what BF shoppers and/or employees go through. Thanks!
  20. Hello Everyone! I was sent an email from Omaha Steaks with a code for free shipping; however, I accidently deleted. The code was supposed to expire either today or tomorrow. Does anyone have it? Thanks! Matt
  21. Was anyone at the Jackson Outlet Center on BF? My wife and I noticed a traffic jam on I-195 about 1/4 mile from the exit around 11:30pm and it seemed as if no one was moving. Unfortunately, we turned around and went to KB Toys which opened at midnight.
  22. Thanks for the link! Although they did not have coupons for Kobe Japanese Restaurant, I am curious if there are coupons in the Enjoy The City discount book. If anyone has this book, could you please let me know? Thanks
  23. It has been my experience that the Saturday after Black Friday will be much more easier to navigate through the stores. In all honesty, the stores probably won't get busy until after lunch that day, as all (or most) of the BF shoppers will be sleeping.

    Rumored Gamestop Sale

If this is what they are going to have, I can honestly say that there is nothing that screams "BUY ME!" other than the Buy 2 Get 1 Free preplayed merchandise.
