I went to Sam's today and they are passing out cards that say text the work "go" to sams1 by Nov. 15 and you can be one of the first to see our day-after-Thanksgiving merchandise. Since Sam's and Walmart go hand in hand I wonder why Walmart is having issues with an early release of their ad? Edit to add: Or visit samsclub.com/txt to register

I'm hoping I get one in the paper or the mail this year. Last year there wasn't one in the paper because we are not in their "area". I did call last year and sign up to have ads mailed to me. If there isn't any in Sunday's paper I think I'll take a drive looking for one. LOL

Ok Veterans, tell us of Black Fridays of the 80's and 90's...
shopping4my3son replied to a topic in 2007
In the mid 90's (I think) Shopko gave out a stuffed Tweety bird to the first couple hundred people. I remember they opened at 5 and I was there at about 4:45 and there wasn't much of a line yet. I gave the Tweety to my son who was about 2-3 yrs old. That was my first BF shopping trip. -

It's going on now. Current item: LG Bluetooth Headset $9.99 + $5 shipping -
Just a heads up. I saw in the local paper that Toyland is going to open on Oct. 13. Their toy catalog will be coming between Oct. 4 and Oct. 10. The paper also said it will be distributed through Sunday newspapers and weekly shopper publications rather than mailed this year. So if this is a catalog you like to have start checking in Sunday's paper. Sometimes the store will also have some available until they run out.

Thank You! I just ordered the board game $34.99. Shipping was $15 ($49.99 total) but I'll put it away for myself for Christmas. It's my favorite movie. They had a lot of stuff I would like to have but it is pricey. I think getting 1 thing a year for myself for Christmas will have to do.

I had coupons from the newspaper last year for some board games and was able to use them at Kmart on BF. The only ones I've noticed that need to be watched more closely are the KBToys coupons those usually have a blackout date of whatever BF is that year.

This past week on a rerun of Little House on the Prairie the person that played "Ralphie" was on. He played a kid who stuttered. Christmas Story is my favorite X-Mas movie. Last year someone on here posted a website that had stuff you could buy about the movie and there was a board game. I'd like to find that this year. (Anybody remember the site??)

Black Friday Videos & Pictures - Post Your's Here!
shopping4my3son replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2007
So funny. In one of them you can hear a dog barking. Why would someone bring their dog??? In another where a lady fell at Walmart she puts her wig back on BEFORE getting back up then gets hauled away in an ambulance. Maybe she should have gotten up then put her wig back on. -
I usually go by myself but last year my 12 year old son wanted to come with so I let him. We had a blast. He thought it was pretty cool to be able to run in the stores. LOL He even held my hand in Toys R Us (how sweet) LOL He was a little nervous but had fun. He wants to go again this year. Which is fine because now that he's 13 he's taller than I am and can reach things better. At Target we got there about an hour after they opened. We had already been to 3 or 4 stores before Target. We went in to find "The Simpsons Season 8" and was told they were all gone by an employee. We started walking around and ended up finding an entire endcap FULL of them. We also found a copy of "Click" that was misplaced in the cd section and it looked like they were out of that. When we went to check out most of the lines were to the back of the store. So I tried to see which line was moving the fastest at least and saw the lines in the middle checkouts only had a few people in each line because more people were on the far left or right side of the checkouts and not many people in the middle. We went to the middle and checked out in a few minutes. *Target tip: Check the middle checkouts for shorter lines. At Walmart we entered through the doors that are by the merchandise vs. the grocery side and made a round through there but when we went to check out a lot of lines on that side of the store were long. We went down farther closer to the grocery side and were the 2nd people in line. If I remember correctly we did get everything that was on my list. Even some things that were not. I was able to get my 4yo a TMX Elmo at Toys R Us since we were one of the first in the store. I didn't have it on my list because I thought it would be to hard to find. But he was very excited to have Santa bring it for him. I can't wait for this year. Edit to add: We went to Kmart for their Thanksgiving Day sale. Only a few people showed up for this. I had my Walmart ad for the next day with me and asked the manager if I could price match the VSmile and he let me. His words:"We'll do whatever it takes to get business." This Kmart is not doing well at all and I think that's why this one allows price matching. Walmart keeps trying to build a store in this town but people keep getting petitions signed to not allow it. That was the last I heard of Walmart coming about 3 years ago.

Does anyone think that Amazon will do what they did last year where you could vote on what you wanted and get it at a cheaper price if you are picked? I only voted once last year and didn't get picked to buy it. If I remember right they had some of the "hot" items up for sale with that promotion. I did enjoy watching what would come up next though.

Looking for U-Haul /Penske coupons
shopping4my3son replied to Gunnershorthair's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
If you use U-Haul make sure you call ahead to make sure they have a truck. We reserved one online and went to pick it up and the place had no record of the reservation even using our paper work to search for it. We lucked out and they still had one truck left when we showed up. A friend of mine also used U-haul and the truck broke down during the drive when it was fully loaded and it was up to her and anyone she could get to help move all the stuff from one truck to another one. There's a company called "Two Men and a Truck" (www.twomenandatruck.com) that can load the truck up. I'm not sure if they will do another company's truck but you could ask. -

shopping4my3son replied to femalesliealot's topic in Offline Hot Deals
There were a few coupons in last Sunday's newpaper for a few dollars off different board games. You may still be able to contact the newspaper company in your area and ask if they can sell you an old paper. Some do. -
