To be honest BitLocker built into Win10 is pretty darn good nowadays. So is FileVault if you're using a Mac. I used an enterprise product but that was more for the ability for us to control aspects of the encryption and recover if something went wrong. I don't really recommend just file encryption I would go for whole disk if you're doing it. Ya Chrome got REALLY bad for a while, I've heard it's been cleaned up some now but not sure how good it is. I made a switch to FF because oddly enough I was running into sites where Chrome wasn't displaying right. I have Chrome, Edge, FF, Safari running though so I can test stuff as I'm doing dev work.

Good base disk encryption on a good hardware platform should have little to noticeable effect on the speed or battery life. I've lived the past 11+ years in Healthcare IT and have implemented it across the board. Too many baddies out there who don't follow the credo of First Do No Harm.

See I love apple products, I have an iPhone so does wife, daughter uses an iPad, i've migrated all of us to MacBooks but I hated that new touch remote. It was too hard to deal with, just give me the ring and a push button then the other needed buttons. Sometimes simple is too much.
