Official "Is it me or are the ads disappointing so far?" thread ;)
speeddiva replied to Tigger97498's topic in 2011
Judging from the few ads we've seen & WM sale this weekend, I'd have to agree. I usually get my big-ticket items early & so far the prices have not been impressive. -
I love the thrill of the chase.

Oh, I am SO excited to start shopping! Only a few more days :):):)

What will your kids give their teacher(s) this year?
speeddiva replied to angelbabymommy's topic in 2011
Wish the teachers at our school felt that way, I stopped giving teacher gifts when they sent home notes stating they didn't want more "stuff" or baked goods, please send gift cards & then not one of them sent home a thank you or even an acknowledgement of the gift. -
Racerfan- My DD goes to one of the top tech colleges in the US and this is the laptop they provide every incoming freshman: http://www.gearxs.com/gearxs/product_info.php?products_id=15717 It's really cool, the screen flips around flat and turns it into a tablet that she can take notes on using a stylus. It may be something to look at instead of an ipad/etc.

Oooo, what App is this? It sounds like it would be handy! We only buy for our kids ($250 each x3), my Mom($60), MIL($60) and then a $5-10 gift that goes in a pool at the in-laws and everyone picks one. It's kind of lame but I usually get stuff when it's 75% off or so, so we can participate just to keep the rest of the family happy. DH & I spend about $100 on each other.

I do the majority of my shopping online but if there's something I can't miss, Ill be in Fort Wayne, IN

Depends on the iPod. Are you talking a Nano or a Touch? Touch is like an iPhone without the phone. The Nano plays music & videos.

a friend's DH is a manager @ Kohls and he told me they are discussing opening at midnight on BF. He's against it thinking it's too much to compete with ToysRUs/Walmart's all-nighters. Would Kohls opening @ midnight change your BF strategy?

I keep my kids' stuff in our camper or the small stuff in a bin in my closet under scarves & belts

Right store, wrong date, ah well.... Congrats to the winners!

I would recommend the 16gb since memory cannot be added. Apps & music can always be removed to make more space but I think a tween would fill up 8gb fast. I've had mine for 18 mos & it's almost full but I'm a music lover. You can upload your own CDs, use amazon, etc. for music, not only iTunes.

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they figure out that the Fire is nothing like the iPad. Not that the Fire isn't going to be a great product, but it's going to be nowhere near doing what an iPad does.
