I have always taken my children starting at age 10, My oldest daughter and I have some great memories of Shopping on BF as now my son who started when he was 14 and my youngest daughter who is now 11. My youngest son who is 9 may or may not stay at home depends on if his dad wants to go or not. My husband is not a crowd person so he has only gone once and last year he and the youngest met up with us later in the morning, No one has the right to look down or say what one parent does is right or wrong. I have never put my children in Harms way, and they have all survived Black Friday shopping and have learned to help people that day as they are runners when I am in line and we make friends. Last year my oldest daughter was number 2 and her brother was number three in a line at walmart for Wii and GPS and something else Oh yeah a DS. A lady who was 10 back wanted to go and get her daughter who was at BB but didnt want to leave the line. I stood where my daughter was and she held the spot for the lady, when the lady came back I removed my self and my daughter took her spot back, the lady had her spot. She offered to pay my daughter 25.00 for the 15 minutes she stood there and my daughter wouldnt take it. Not bad for a 20 year old I was proud of her.

We also did the one in line while the others shop

walmart did not lose money that year, They to had black and white sale papers that came out after the main ad to draw people in. So it was a fight between walmart and best buy to see who could undercut each other I believe that was the plan

Most of my Black Friday experiance have been great, I can not complain much. There was this one year when my oldest started to go with me that always comes to mind. We had gone to Walmart to only get a few things and one of them was the BOB the builder dolls for 5.00. My littlest one loved BIB. So She got him one and placed it in her cart, she was on toy duty, Turned her back to get the easy bake oven that was also in sale and some took BOB out of her cart. She was livid, and when she went to see if there was an other one they were all gone. Needles to say she learned you don't turn your back, I just couldnt understand why some one would take it from a child well she was 13 but still she was a child. Now from that she has become an aggesive Black friday shopper and no one gets in her way. The following year was the year of the DVD players and TV she had had knee surgery and we brought a friend with her, Well lets just say she conqured and got what she was after and several people who tried to push her got black and blue from crutches. I thought of another one, this one has nothing to do with shopping, After I spent all night at Walmart for the lap top I got one, my son at target and my husband at menards, we came home to find that we had no heat. As I was waiting for the repair guy my sister called to tell me my brother had passed that morning. So the holiday's have been stressed as it has been several years prior and after that have had some family emergeny that make you at times want to rethink the whole holiday tradition. -

okay so I clap so here I write a haiku To win a darn shirt -
Not a good idea, as last year several people did not do this in a appropriate way and harressed, threatened a person at home which included scaring their child. although we all love seeing the ads early, Noone should do anything to jeaperdize Gottadeal as a site and we should just let it go

5. Limit quantities to 1 per person aged 15 or older on items that have insufficient stock (say less than 20 per store) I will disagree with this, as my children starting at 10 have gone black friday and they are given items that they need to get. They do not go alone as they go in pairs. and when K-mart had pepsi really cheap all 4 of my kids were given money to purchase the amount pf soda allowed -

I think some of the bigger stores, IE walmart, Target, and Bestbuy should all have layaway for us everyday working people who do not own charge cards and some times rteally would like to get some of these items with out breaking the bank -

Selling tickets for Black Friday items while in line
Illinoismom replied to josetann's topic in 2008
If I want something I will be in line, But I refuse to sell, buy and sell for me to make a profit. I have helped people get the items they needed at no charge to them. I am where I need to be at the time I need to be. BB has never been one of those places. I have missed out once not getting what I wanted and it wasnt because I wasnt there early enough. It was because I went from 3rd in line to about 50th when the doors opened. After that I vowed that would never happen again. -

Coffee, good frame of mind, and a smile. We start the morning about 1:00am to our 24-hour walmart with Christmas Music a blaring. I always make friends in the line and help as many people as I can. It makes it less cut throat I have a binder that I place all ads in, these are tab, I compare these ads to the ones Ive pulled off Gottadeal, and the on-line shopping threads.I write every store I want to go to and what I want and price match as much as I can on the list. Envelopes in the back of the binder for all reciepts. I go to Walmart first mine is a 24-hour, I enlist enough people to get the door busters so they are stationed all through out the store. I also have two runners who go and help other people who I may make friends with get otems that they may need, I also place in my cart Items I am going to price match ahead of time. While in Walmart since I go to the same store all the time and they remember me I also buy the early morning workers donuts. I am out of Walmart by 5:45 then on to the next store where we try and do the same thing. I tell my older children who go we are on a mission and time is very important we waste no time. we all have cell phones and walki talkies. It is the most fun we have in a day. The most fun we had was last year when every wanted transformers from TRU and I found them hidden and helped 4 ladies with getting them so their kids wouldnt be disappointed, Same thing with the sleeping bags, I had no need for them but found them up on the top and helped fill other peoples lists. Best advice, Make friends, Be orginized, smile, have manners and don't yell at cashiers they are only doing their jobs -
My MIL does does Dinner as one to two days before I cook for the ederly and feed about 45-50 people
