I think a bunch of us have been saying this for the last couple of years. It ain't like it used to be; that's for sure.

I'm fairly new to this, so I'm naive when it comes to the honesty of the stores in their marketing. When a store says, "our lowest holiday price," are they being truthful? Are they in danger of false advertising if, say, the item shows up on Black Friday at a less expensive price? I'm seeing some good prices that claim they are the "lowest" for the holidays and I'm wondering if they're telling the truth.

I'm also torn about the Cricut... I guess it depends on what this mysterious "2nd cartridge" is that's in the Walmart deal. Question is: Do I care enough to actually brave the Walmart opening crowd?

I wasn't sure where to put this... it's not specifically BF news, but it's sort of related. In an article about BF printed in today's Star Tribune ("Black Friday Comes Early as Stores Try to Lure Wary Spenders"), they mentioned Target's plans for a big sweepstakes that will run the week of the 25th - there will 20 items on sale and those who use their Target credit card to purchase them will be entered in a sweepstakes for big prizes such as a Masarati or an African safari! The article implied there would be more prizes but there were no more details.

Another Minnesotan here... basically I'm going to be freezing my a$$ off.

Has KB ever done BF prices online? The nearest KB is too far for me that day and they are the only store with the toys that I want on sale.

Depressing. My last hope was ToysRUs and it is just as lame as the rest of them. I'll be out anyway but not as excited as in years past.

I picked up the Geotrax Airport... I can never find it anywhere, especially for that price!

I wish I had come back to this thread before I went out this morning. I actually found it at Walmart for a higher price. When I came home and read the reviews, it went right back to the store.

I *might* go back to JCP... but I'm pretty darned exhausted after today.

Awake here. Plan on buying online at midnight (CT) and then sleeping (if I can) until about 3:30 am.

I'm not getting the BF prices yet, just the pre-Thanksgiving prices.

OMG, one of my good friends is from Odenville. I was born and grew up in Montgomery, went to grad school in Birmingham, and I never even *heard* of Odenville until I met my friend. ) Ha, not sure why I felt the need to share that. I'm in Minnesota now, but miss my home state.

I have to admit that I am. Even if I had 4 huge guys with me, 2 or 3 scumbags yielding guns and demanding money won't be deterred. I'm afraid those jerks have given some bad people some great ideas for making quick cash this Friday.

My boys get 3 gifts from Santa and 3 from us to "symbolize" the number of gifts Baby Jesus received from the Wise Men.

I went to my local Kohls and scoped out the toys section... I wasn't terribly impressed. Anyone who works at Kohl's and happens to know: will there be new toys added for BF or is what you see now what you get? TIA!

The first two years when we had only one child I went nuts and soon realized we were wasting money... I mean, a toy gets played with one or two times and gets abandoned for another. Then the next year comes and all the toys from the previous year are no longer wanted. Not to mention that we just don't have enough ROOM for all of these toys. The year my second child was born, I got an idea from a friend of mine who is a fellow mom. She was trying to come up with ways to emphasize the story of Christmas into all aspects of the holiday, so she started a rule of 3, so to speak. Baby Jesus was given 3 gifts by 3 Wise Men, so Santa does the same for the good little boys in our house. Each boy gets 3 gifts from Santa (1 of these is a big "joint" gifts for both of them). To carry over the idea, DH and I get 3 gifts for each boy. They give one gift to each other... a small one they pick out themselves. They get so many other toys from extended family that they don't need anything more.

Not impressed at all. I don't have one too near me anymore but now I know not to bother making the extra trip.

The fifth Harry Potter movie will be released in July 2007... the release date of the last book is unknown.

I got mine in the mail today... I haven't gotten all the way through it yet. My sons are currently perusing it with great relish.

I appreciate all your input... .looks like I will be headed over TRU for a certain toy they have in their BTB; haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else. Small world, yogiyb! :)

I knew there must have been a reason I skipped TRU last year. Thank you for your input. On another note: your location is Birmingham? Alabama? I grew up in Montgomery and went to UAB for my grad degree. :)
