  1. I've never had great luck with any candles. It seems that the scent doesn't last very long. If I light the candle and leave (never leave it alone, only when someone is here) and come home I would expect to smell it and I never do. :(

I had crappy customer service at Fazoli's the other day. I wanted to buy gift cards. The girl at the register didn't know how, the guy she asked didn't know how, but they told me the manager was on the phone and if I wanted to pay for my lunch, eat and then come back someone might be able to help me. Ok, yes, I want to stand in line at lunch time on a Sunday. No thank you! I sent an e-mail but haven't heard anything yet. Shouldn't the people working the register be able to sell gift cards??

Yes, they should be able to... but it's the holiday season, and most of the employees at these stores just started working there within the past month, so they haven't been trained enough to do certain things. Then some stores don't want the employees to learn certain things right away (which is terrible during the holiday season). I was a holiday retail employee one year, and was in such a situation, and it's terrible to have customers getting mad at you because your store doesn't want to train you in everything right away or whatever. So, be nice to the employees, and take it out on a higher up lol.

  2. Interesting!

I think the cash registers at the Target I frequent stop scanning items completely if an item scans at 0.00.

Sometimes an item that scans 0.00 at the floor scanners comes up with a price when scanned at the registers. Did you see the 0.00 come up as it as rung up, or double check your receipt? Did it ring up at 0.00 at the register and still continued ringing up your other items?

Yeah, it scanned at the scanners at 0.00 (did it twice to be sure); scanned 0.00 at the register; it did not display on the receipt (so this could be bad if you set of the detectors leaving the store).

It was the last item that was rung up in my purchase, so it didn't stop the register from scanning the remaining items since there were none.

  3. It will never happen at Target when an item scans 0.00 though. That is their own corporate method of catching items that should not be on the sales floor. They will try to look up the last known selling price at Guest Services, if they decide to sell you the item. Sometimes you can suggest a low ball price to the cashier and if it sounds reasonable to them, they will ring it up at that price. This happens a lot to me when a seasonal item that went 90% off the week before goes salvage and rings 0.00. If I tell the cashier that the item was 90% off on clearance the previous week, they do usually accept my word for it.

But then, I am known at my local Target for being a perimeter peruser and finding the deals. :giggle:

I got the Spiderman ready-bed tent for free at Target after it rang up $0.00. My Target didn't have it on the shelves when everyone was finding it on clearance, then afterwards, when it was scanning at 0.00, it was on the shelves. I grabbed one, scanned it twice to be sure, brought it up, scared that I wouldn't be allowed to buy it lol, it rang up and the cashier was paying no attention, so she never said a word. The next week when I went back, the tent was back to it's original price of $29.99.

  4. I'd like to get 2 items, since I like to give him and his sister the same amount of gifts (usually the same type of item, such as a board game, video game, movie, etc, although this year they'll only be getting 2 similar items, and 2 others). I'd rather not do a gift card, and need to keep the price range of each item reasonable.

I tried asking what he's been playing with lately, since I usually get there after they're asleep now, but he replied with "nothing really", so a big help that was lol.

  5. Just an FYI:

My 10 year old has talked about nothing except the Wii all year long - he even cried on launch day because I wasn't sitting in line to get one. Still can't find any but he got his Nintendo Power magazine the other day and inside is an ad for the Wii - IN ALL DIFFERENCE COLORS - I guess they are coming out after the first of the year.

Now he's willing to wait until I can get him a red Wii - YAY!!! :D

I wonder if Target has tried to solely get the red Wii, if this is true.

  6. It's pretty tough to buy for this age and I'm not sure what else he's in to but what I did once was buy a kids wallet and put a gift card in it. My kids love to go shopping with their "credit card" and it also helps to teach them about budgeting.

They get a type of allowance, and when they want to buy something they have to use their own money (from allowance, holidays, etc.), so they're pretty used to that already. It is a good idea, though.

Everyone had some good suggestions, but I'm still not sure lol. Hopefully, he'll have a list made up so I can look at it tomorrow, but I'm not counting on it, so keep the suggestions coming :)

Oh, it's just 2 more Christmas presents that I need now. I don't have a chance to get to the store before then, and I'm going to give him his presents on Thursday, so I am using one of the presents I got him for Xmas for his birthday.

  7. Nope, the last set of Original trilogy DVD's did not include the orignal un-messed up versions. I know, I have those too.

Sorry, I meant the ones that were just released again a month or two ago. My boyfriend has pretty much every Star Wars movie on every version of release available lol (except the latest release).

  8. Walmart had the original trilogy on BF. I saw plenty, so you should still be able to get them. 9.72 each, and they include the original theatrical version, before Lucas added all those scenes to them.

I'm pretty sure all of the new release DVDs of the original trilogy include the original theatrical versions. WM had them bundled with some kind of book or comic book for 9.72 on BF (in the ad, couldn't find them in the store).

  9. I babysit for an 8 year old boy (8 on Saturday) and his 10 year old sister. His sister made up her Christmas list, but he hadn't made his when I was there the other day, and even with his birthday coming up this weekend, he only told me one thing that he wanted (Tony Hawk Underground 2 for his GC -- I got him the American Wasteland at Target on BF, so that's pretty much covered). They have a huge stack of Gamecube games already, so it's tough to buy anything for that that they don't already have or that is $30-50.

I really only need to buy about one more thing for Christmas, and one more for his birthday this weekend, but I'm not sure what to get. He may have a list made by the time I go this week, but just in case, I'd like to be able to shop around for stuff that he might like.

  10. We got to ours around 4:30 am, and everything was unwrapped already. A lot of people were in line with full carts as well. We got everything we wanted (except for the Star Wars DVDs, since they decided to put the Xbox/PSP/GB Micro in the middle of the aisle by the electronics, so that entire area was pretty much blocked off with people waiting), then had to wait about 10 minutes in line to check out at 5. Got out of there around 5:15, then had to go back after being at CC for 40 minutes, and still not moving in the line.
  11. Best was B&BW for me:

    6 anti-bacterial soaps (3/$10)

    1 bubble bath (either $9.50 or $10.50)

3 "festive" lotion collections (the small 3-piece - $10 each)

    Bubble bath was free AC.

    2 lotion collections free AC.

    $10 off $30 coupon.

    Total: $21.xx

    B&BW GC for $10 = Total: $11.xx :)

Everything else was the BF sale/doorbuster prices, and we were fortunate to have our non-PM'ing WM PM CC's deals.

  12. I put my story about pm'ing in another thread in here. Summary: The one we went to said that they weren't pm'ing. We were in line between 2 customers who pm'ed. Went to CC, lines were ridiculous, so we grabbed the ad and headed back to WM. Got everything we wanted (including an item in the CC circular that was OOS when we got there), had some trouble pm'ing, but did get out of the store with the pm's :D

Anyway, it's ridiculous that they pulled the stock. Not everyone goes to different stores, and not everyone buys only sale/doorbuster items, so way to lose some more sales there, WM!

  13. Polar Express DVD (they didn't have Widescreen @ Target, they only had FUllScreen). And Best Buy was out of the NintendoDS Version of UNO/SkipBo Video game. Other than that......and forgetting to look for those 400 thread count sheets.....I got what I needed for the most part.

Sam's Club had the Uno/Skip Bo for the DS for around $17.xx . They also had a GBA version (which will play on the DS) for around $14.xx .

  14. Didn't get the $2.99 1GB SD cards at Circuit city, and best buy wouldn't price match. Also didn't get the $15 Monopoly here and now from walmart. I managed to get a raincheck though since the item was from the regular ad and not from the one day sale. So there's still hope!

Target sells the Here & Now edition for $15.09 after WM dropped the price to $15. The Target toy coupon book had a $5 off the game coupon, so a lot of people (myself included) got it for $10.09 @ Target. Unfortunately, the coupon expired on the 22nd. However, you won't have to worry about just waiting for WM to have it in stock, make sure to check your area's Target(s) also!
