  6. Check out the tomtom go 720...i know its accurate and very reliable, also has blue tooth compatibility so you could receive up to date traffic, text to speech, and mapshare (free updated open source mapping technology)...i think this will fit your requirements...good luck!
  7. i dont know how u feel about this, but i would get a 16 yr old boy the national treasure dvd and a ticket to see national treasure 2 when it comes out on during the holidays. my co-worker told me she was doing that for her son and i thought it was such a cute idea actually.
  8. I was (unfortunately) up at the crack of dawn on Saturday. Luckily, it meant that I caught a lot of the marathon - good stuff- all the classics! Speaking of, Jack Frost is on tonight!
  9. i love the holiday season b/c of all the great movies and previews that come out! my niece is so excited for step up 2 the streets. over thanksgiving we watched stomp the yard and those dancing movies are actually really good. here is the trailer for step up 2. http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/stepup2thestreets/ i saw enchanted and surprisingly it was really good too!
  10. Oooohhhhhhhhhh The Polar Express is on Friday! I LOVED that story when I was little
  11. I used to go to outlets a lot, until I stopped driving most of the time. Now I'll fit it in if I can, but it's less likely. I've been trying the Target designer lines, but everytime I go my local Target is almost always sold out of EVERYTHING Proenza Schouler, so I've never gotten to try that particular line. I'm still planning to though. I like a lot of the Mizrahi stuff though. The More magazine article recommends buying trendier pieces at H&M. Anyone shop their regularly? They always seem to have pretty good prices in ads/circulars/etc.
  12. So I was reading this month's issue of More Magazine, and it had a great article about mixing being both frugal and trendy when you're clothes shopping, and how everyone loves when you find a steal or great buy. The article said that this has become easier since high end designers are doing clothes for less expensive places - like Isaac Mizrahi's line for Target, and that this makes it really easy to mix and match classic pieces with cuter, trendier stuff. It sounds like good advice to me, especially because my budget is pretty tight right now. Do any of you guys do this - or if you have another preferred method, what are your tips for more frugal fashion? I need to kind of upgrade my wardrobe for summer and I don't want to break the bank on it.
  13. That's miserable! I can't say I've shopped at Wal-mart too recently though. They don't have too many of them around the immediate metro-DC area. whalefan- What other GPS devices are you looking for? You might want to take a look at the TomTom line-up as well. They've got a couple of newer more expensive models out (510 and 910) but I'm pretty sure they still sell their older ones too (300) which is supposed to be a rocksolid work-horse. As far as I remember, you can get TomTom's or Garmins just about anywhere now.
  14. Here's a fun take on the TomTom POI- they already have POI with Baskin Robbins and Dunkin Donuts- trouble right , and added this contest that lets you win treats (ice cream or a TomTom 700): http://www.clubtomtom.com/general/ready%e2%80%a6set%e2%80%a6spoon/
  15. Can't imagine why you would like the "Scott, Scott" one. Have you had a chance to borrow a TomTom- I really appreciated being able to test out my friend's GO 300. Anyone seen the new TomTom GO 510 and 910 at electronics stores? I heard from a gadget savvy friend that they are now in Best Buy, Circuit City and Radio Shack. So we can "test drive", pardon the bad pun, them now!
  16. I volunteered at a charity's consignment shop regularly when I was in high school (OMG, just realized that was like 10 years ago, sigh), and the baby clothes definitely sold the best of all the categories- women, kids, mens, jewelery, etc. People would come in there and just scoop up any name brand stuff.
  17. Isn't it great when gadgets can multi-task. Actually I'm looking into the TomTom GO 910 mentioned above (mainly bc it comes with US and Europe maps installed and ready to use), and learned that it can connect to iPods. Pretty cool, eh, imagine many people already have iPods so this is a great feature, rather than a GPS with MP3 built in. Anyone else reading up on the TomTom GO 910 or have one already?
  18. Yes, I am looking into GPS and have heard great things about TomTom. I borrowed a friend's TomTom GO 300 and it was very easy to use, the maps were up-to-date too. And the commercials are funny, I like how the wife calls her husband Doug Doug.
  19. Welcome. That's cool that the sipping inserts fit the knock offs- bet if Nalgene realized that they'd do a redesign to prevent that. I use mine for camping (well tag-along camping when my boyfriend goes), so I don't really need the sip insert like I would at the gym.
  20. I have rarely found any sale flier items in stock at CVS. And they, as well as the local safeway refuse to give rain checks. Grr any concept of customer service guys?
  21. I saw at Dick's sporting goods about a month ago that the non-Nalgene brand version of the bottles was on sale for about half what the comparable Nalgene brand bottle cost, so I picked one up. It also included a cooling cover for the bottle. But I got mine in bright pink, which I imagine is not what you want to take to the gym Dig Doug.
  22. Interesting, thanks for taking the time to dig up and post those links. I get fascinated by stuff like this. ..
  23. Recalled this discussion when I was explaining Netflix to my parents this week-trying to convince them to get that and get rid of premium channels (they actually upgraded to digital bc they cable co. made that cheaper- they don't watch most of the extra channels they get with digital so Netflix would be much cheaper all around). Then I saw this item about Amazon offering content soon after shows- wonder if that will eat Netflix's lunch to some extent? What do you all think?\ http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,193038,00.html
  24. Asking for a friend who is moving to NYC, what providers are good there for reception, esp. in the subway if any work there? Where I live Verizon has a special arrangement with the public transportation system to ensure reception in the underground tunnels, I'm looking for an equivalent.
  25. Saw this news item and recalled this thread Netflix Sues Blockbuster to Stop Online Renting http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190585,00.html
