  1. Do any of these ever do online BF sales??
  2. Hmmm... my niece's sister-in-law works in the pharmacy at one of the local CVS's-- I think I might have to start sweet-talking her! Is there a special sale ad for the F&F event, or will it be 30% off whatever the current prices are that day?
  3. you're very welcome! Good luck, and let us know if it works!!
  4. Even if you can't get much sleep, I would still suggest you get as much as you can! Then when you get up, start moving around and getting yourself going as soon as you can-- even do some quick exercises or take a quick walk if you need to-- to get your blood pumping and your body in a more alert mode. Grab a big, hot cup of cider and a handful of gingersnap cookies. Hot cider affects me similarly to hot chocolate or flavored coffee, as far as warming me up and making me more alert. And the ginger in the cookies is great for calming a queasy stomach (I used to always keep some in my car, for mornings I was in a hurry, feeling blah, and didn't want breakfast that early).... The suggestions about a cool car are good too.... and if your cousin doesn't mind, turn the car radio up loud and both of you sing along to a CD full of Christmas music or just silly songs!! HTH!!
  5. I remember several years ago when they had at least 2, maybe 3, time periods on BF with "doorbuster sales" valid only during that time. Of course, one of them was the earlybird thing, I think it was like 6 to 11 back then. Then from like noon to 4 was another group of sales, and a final group like 5 to 9. I can't remember the exact times but I can remember looking over the ad and realizing there wasn't anything I was interested in during one time period but there was during another. Really, I think it makes more sense to split it up that way, because it breaks up the chaotic crowd a little by scattering them throughout the day. And those folks who plan to camp out at BB or CC would still have a chance to get some deals at WM if the stuff they're interested in was in one of the later doorbuster groups... I'd love to see WM (and other stores!) start doing this again-- especially since I am NOT a morning person! LOL
  6. Is it possible that the stuff he saw in the ads and liked were ones he wanted specifically because they're cheap?? My dad does construction and misc. other handyman type things, and while he has certain brands/types of tools he prefers for on-the-job work, he also gets some cheaper-made stuff when he can find it for a really good price. He'd prefer to leave those cheaper ones in the garage for smaller, around the house jobs-- and because it hurts a lot less to have a $5 socket set "grow legs and walk away" than a $50+ set ("borrowed" by a relative or neighbor)!! And I know you don't want to ask him specifically what ad or what brand, but there are ways around that-- I've done this with my dad for YEARS, and he still hasn't caught on, LOL.............. When nothing else is going on and it's been a fairly slow day, casually "remember" to ask: "Hey honey, Sue told me today said her husband really needs some new screwdrivers, but she's clueless on what's good and what's not... I told her about Snap-on and Matco, but they're having some money problems and can't afford that right now. Which ones was it that you liked in those ads the other day? Well, would those be good for working with everyday, or are they more just for tinkering around the house? I just want to be able to explain it to her tomorrow, since I told her I would ask you about them tonight... That's a really good price on those; are all of the tools made by that brand pretty good? Because Barbara said she was buying her husband a new impact wrench, but this one here is almost half the price of what she was planning to buy......" Am I bad or what?!?! ;) :D :p :yup:
  7. Okay, I'm a little confused on this ad... above the $1.49 poinsettia pic, it says "friday only." Does that apply only to that item, or is it the whole page?? Because both trees on that page are tons cheaper than any of similar size shown earlier in the ad... Also, at the bottom right corner of page 9 (not sale ad page 9- PDF ad scan page 9) is this: So it sounds like they're doing "Cyber-Monday" too! Is this something they've done before? If so, do they normally have any really good deals that day?? TIA! :)
  8. Do you have to have tickets to get the deals on this one? When is their F&F event?
  9. This is pretty much what I do... except I get up at midnight, so I can take my time waking up, getting ready, and go over the ads one last time! I wait till that day to wear my first Christmas shirt of the season, along with Christmas earrings of course. LOL... Then I grab my favorite Christmas CD, a nice warm cup of flavored coffee, and head out to my first store around 2:30!! Also, to help me get as much good, restful sleep as I can for those 5-6 hours on Thanksgiving evening, I make the bedroom super-dark and turn on the ceiling fan, to drown out any other noise and make it just chilly enough that I need to cuddle up tight in the blankets... There's no way I could stay on top of my BF game if I stayed up all night. And I am sooo NOT a morning person... so that extra wake-up time gives me a chance to get my body and brain functioning again before I head out! HTH, and good luck!!!:)
  10. Anybody know if that Oregon Scientific weather hub thing is something I could get elsewhere (like online or at WM or Meijer)? My 13 yr old nephew is a weather nut, so I'd love to get that for him! What's the general opinion on the Aiptek 5-in-1 camcorder for $49.99? I don't need anything super-fancy or with lots of extra gizmos, but I would like to have one that will last for a year or two, at least! My other stops are too far from CC to go first thing on BF (and I really don't want to fight the mobs there just for these and some DVD's- lol), so I'll either need to pricematch at WM, find a good price online, or try to get to CC on Saturday... TIA!!
  11. Oh my goodness-- LOOK at all those $2.99 DVD's!! Look out pricematching, here I come!!!! (I'm too far away from CC to go there and would hate to fight the mob anyway- LOL)
  12. I was hoping one of these "busy mornings" was coming soon!! Thanks, Brad!!!!
  13. I don't remember it from last year, but I signed up for it this year on 11/2.... and got a confirmation email for the "Sears Football Challenge" :( I contacted them via their online form to ask for a correction or clarification, but haven't heard anything back........
  14. Thanks, Jenny!! Any idea on whether they have F & F night??
  15. I just called the closest store to my office and they don't have any of these. I may call the one closer to my house (but in the opposite direction of work)... Not nearly as good of deal, but-- if the CVS rumored BF ad is true, we may still be able to get a decent deal on a slightly better model:
  16. The stocking idea sounds good-- a cheap wallet is another idea for the guys... and if they're in an area where it EVER gets cold, I'm sure new gloves would come in handy! If you decided to forgo the stockings, you could also add in skull caps/ski masks and scarfs... HTH!
  17. When I was little, "My Two Front Teeth" bothered me so much that I covered my ears and talked all the way thru it so I couldn't hear it. The lispy-voiced guy creeped me out! lol Now, "The Hippopautamus Song" is annoying by the 2nd time I hear it each season... but I think the worst one I know is "Santa Claus Is Watchin' You"-- I think it's by Ray Stevens or one of those "comedian" singers. He sounds so dumb saying "He's everywhere, he's everywhere!" in that fake high-pitched voice!
  18. As Brad suggested in another thread, this year I think I'm gonna grab one of those big Rubbermaid containers first thing (way before the doorbuster stuff is opened up), the size that takes up basically the whole cart, and put all the stuff I'm buying down in there. That way, if I DO need to take my hands off of my cart for a millisecond or two, I can snap the top onto the container first and keep it all concealed! Only the very brazen (or very clueless!) person would take time to open the container on the off chance of finding anything in it, let alone something they want! HTH!
  19. I'm interested! Any idea if Family Christian Stores have a Friends and Family night?
  20. I LOVE this idea, Brad-- TY!! I think I know what I'll have in my cart at WM this year! And ya know, if you needed the container anyway and bought it, you could use it to put all your goodies back into and set the whole thing in the car-- no messing with transferring ump-teen bags from cart to car!
  21. There's also a .25 off Bounty that just came out in the P&G insert, which means .74 per roll! These are my 2nd favorite (Viva is my fave) and the best deal I've seen in a while on them, so may have to grab a few... And I agree that this is most likely not the entire ad... Walgreens always has cheap wrapping paper, bows, tape, candles, and other knick knacks for great prices-- which is why it's always my 2nd stop every BF (WM is first, mainly for pricematching- LOL)! Thanks for the list, Brad; I can hardly wait for the rest of it... and the rest of the OTHER ads!
  22. I've seen that done too... which is why: 1) at WM, I pick up everything I possibly can from the "regular" aisles BEFORE they unwrap the earlybird stuff (it's a super WM that stays open, thankfully!:) ) or 2) if I HAVE to venture into an area that's crowded and can't manage to squeeze my way thru with my cart (without causing injury to myself or others ), I'll find some way to either keep one hand on the cart while I reach into the mess, or find a place to park the cart where I can clearly see it and hopefully get back to it before someone could get very far with it! or 3) if the item in the crowded area is something that isn't a "gotta have" for everyone else, I'll skip it and come back later in the day to get it! It's pretty sad that we have to be paranoid about stuff that SHOULD be common courtesy! What ever happened to courtesy and RESPECT, anyway?!
  23. I've heard of that happening and am always worried that it it will happen to me... so what I try to do is cover up any of the "gotta have" items in my cart with other items I'm purchasing! For example: at Wal-Mart, I'll lay the cheap PJs or an item I'm pricematching on top of the earlybird Barbie or Care Bear or whatever! Or if the item is small enough, I've even (temporarily) resorted to laying it in the seat section of my cart and casually draping my coat over it while I continue to shop! Then as soon as I find something else to buy that will cover it up fairly well, I'll move it to the bottom of the cart as I pick up the other item and lay it over it! Sneaky? yes Wrong? No -- I'm just trying to curb others from the temptation of shopping from MY cart! LOL
