  1. YIPPEEE!!! I can finally post on the "Perimeter Perusing" thread. I haven't found any bargains yet, but OUR TARGET IS FINALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Before this, the closest one was 90 miles away!
  2. I've only done the Rite Aide thing once and that was last week. I got the Crest ProHealth toothpaste, which was free after rebate, and some BOGO free Nature Made Vitamins (they had a rebate too, but I didn't know it at the time.) I applied for my rebate by going to Rite Aide's website and registering there, and entering the info from my receipt. Says they will mail me a check. Not nearly as fun as CVS's ECB's.
  3. Yep, my point exactly. Probably if I had known about the CVS sale price on the day I purchased the Viactiv, the cashier would have handled it. But I didn't get a CVS flyer until the next day, so I had to try for a price adjustment. Evidently the Customer Service reps weren't as in the know as the cashiers.
  4. UPDATE: Yesterday I received a call from the Walmart Asst Mgr after I sent an email to the corporate office asking about them not price-matching the CVS price. He was very nice, asked lots of questions to confirm everything, then apologized about me not being able to get the price match. He said he considered it a "training issue with employees" and assured me that it wouldn't happen again, and that should I have any problems in the future to ask for him by name.
  5. Our Walmart doesn't have their price-matching policy posted anywhere, or at least I haven't noticed it. I still think it's not very smart business for them to return money rather than price match with a large chain store like CVS. (I'm all for the small stores, but I don't know of any that offer "with card" sales except for the chainstores which should be Walmart direct competitors.) PS: Thanks much for the comments, it does help to know that other Walmarts do the same. (We didn't know that some Walmarts accept internet coupons until someone here mentioned it once. We were able to get the manager of our local Walmart to begin accepting them...previously they would not.)
  6. Yesterday I went to Walmart to see if they would price adjust for some Viactiv vitamin chews I had recently purchased for $7.77. CVS had them "with card" for $5.99 Two customer service employees told me that they could not price adjust for any "with card" sales (CVS or Winn Dixie etc) because they were "gimmick sales". I explained I had a CVS card (which is free to anyone) and would gladly show it to them. They still refused to adjust my price, but did refund my money so I could go to CVS down the street to buy the Viactiv there (which I did, plus an extra box too!) My question is this: If Walmart had my money, why on earth would they prefer to give it back, rather than just do a price match, or price adjust? I mean, is this good business sense?
  7. Never too early for Christmas shopping for me! I've already bought quite a few things for this December...can't beat all the clearance prices at the stores this time of year. Will hold off buying for the kids cause they change their minds (and tastes) too often!
  8. My niece works at Walmart...she had to go in tonight at ten to stock shelves and price the markdowns. They will open at 6 a.m. tomorrow...don't know for sure if that's the same for all Walmarts, but betcha it is.
  9. After Thanksgiving, my hubby bought some laser sets online for his crew at work as Christmas gifts...$9, regular price $39. HD said they were in stock, no problem. Then a few days ago he found out they cancelled his order. Claimed our credit card didn't go through. Discover says there is no problem with it, and that HD has the problem. We had to rush out and try to find other gifts. My stepmom went through heck with them over some carpet she ordered...three months later it was still not installed and she had to cancel...with a fee for cancelling which they said they would waive, but did not! Neighbor across the street had new replacement windows installed only to find out on closer inspection that three of them had tiny cracks in them. Took forever to get them to come replace them...they wanted to ship them to her and have her install them herself! Needless to say, we go to Lowe's when possible. Only buy things at Home Depot that are not likely to have problems and are straight off the shelf.
  10. Thanks for the post. My daughter is handicapped and it is much easier for her to use VHS tapes because they are larger and easier for her to handle. She'll love the Polar Express and I'm picking up one for her special ed class too. They don't have a dvd player.
  11. Oh man, I could have gotten DS some nice flip flops for $13.99 if I hadn't already gotten him some from REI outlet. He's in college and practically lives in them year round. (Southerners will know what I mean, we can be running the air conditioning on Christmas a lot of times!) Will definitely be checking this site again in the future. Thanks much!
  12. Excellent post! I had a couple of gift cards with about 60 cents each left on them, so got the .10 Celtic songs cassette, some of the God's Little Book for 2001 graduates (for my daughter's Special Ed class's token store) also got a really cute Birthday songs cassette and book for .49 (You can listen to samples of the songs on a lot of the cds and cassettes which was a big help.) Thanks again!
  13. Thank you!!! I have been wanting some of the little paper folding fans and found a good deal on the Deep Discounts page. They have Chinese New Year Lucky Treat Bags that include a paper fan, chopsticks, noisemakers, and keychains in really cute bags for $6.89 per set of 12 (regular price was $19.95). No shipping thanks to your code, and I got it free since hubby had $7.00 left on a giftcard from a testdrive. Excellent post!
