  1. if i wanted one of those items (tv for example), i'd buy one, bring it out to vehicle, then go back in to buy a second one if i really felt having 2 of those tvs was what i wanted.. so it'd be 2 separate transactions - very likely still under the 1 hour window. bring cash for both and no way to track who purchased.
  2. the back of the map given away at my local walmart says the following: 'in an effort to make your holiday shopping experience effortless and enjoyable we have placed all other sale items close to the area where they would normally be found. happy holidays!' so to answer your question, the item you seek should be with the other cameras/camcorders in the store you frequent. in my store, the camcorder will be in the electronics department. i did actually have that same camcorder on my 'possible want' list. so i'm still debating on it, but i don't know if i will be able to get it because i want/need to be at a different store for a higher priority item(s).
  3. i think that was the year i waited in a toys r us line all night (i was pregnant with third kid then) - my boys both wanted leapsters. i remember reading 3 books in their entirety. it was a wonderful night. i was alone (with many, many MANY other people, lol). i did go to walmart afterwards and picked up cheap dvds though. don't remember now what they were. . .. . fun memories!
  4. really liking some of the ads posted in meijers flyer! is the item listing going to happen for meijers or is it too small a store to have a 'shopping list' option for it?
  5. $1K to spend just on Black Friday? Here's what I'd do: <table border="1"> <tr> <th>Store</th> <th>Item</th> <th>Amount</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Gamestop</td> <td>3DS Bundle & Nintendogs</td> <td>$169.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Gamestop</td> <td>3DS Bundle & Nintendogs</td> <td>$169.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Jo-Ann</td> <td>Cricut V1 Personal Electronic Cutter</td> <td>$79.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>HHGregg</td> <td>Sony Full HD Camcorder w/ Projector, 25x Optical Zoom, 2.7" LCD</td> <td>$299.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Family Dollar</td> <td>Sentry Portable Light</td> <td>$5.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Meijer</td> <td>Play-Doh 24 pack</td> <td>$7.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Meijer</td> <td>Hungry Hungry Hippos</td> <td>$13.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Best Buy</td> <td> Nikon Coolpix L610 16MP Digital Camera, Black w/ Free Case & Memory Card</td> <td>$149.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td>TOTAL SPENT (before local taxes)</td> <td>$999.95</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> i don't understand why it's not listing as a table. should be. so here's the list again w/o html code: Gamestop 3DS Bundle & Nintendogs $169.99 Gamestop 3DS Bundle & Nintendogs $169.99 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Jo-Ann Cricut V1 Personal Electronic Cutter $79.99 HHGregg Sony Full HD Camcorder w/ Projector, 25x Optical Zoom, 2.7" LCD $299.99 Family Dollar Sentry Portable Light $5.00 Meijer Play-Doh 24 pack $7.00 Meijer Hungry Hungry Hippos $13.00 Best Buy Nikon Coolpix L610 16MP Digital Camera, Black w/ Free Case & Memory Card $149.99 TOTAL SPENT (before local taxes) $999.95
  6. not pregnant, but i remember when i was shopping a bf in 2005 and i was VERY pg with second kid due in jan (btw he was 11 lbs at birth). (i don't birth babies, i deliver preschoolers, lol). we joke that all my babies come out ready to work. i would suggest packing a small lunch - with a box/can of juice (real stuff, not those fake capri sun or whatever), some carbs, and some proteins. (package of crackers with peanut butter or cheese) works well to meet both carb and protein need) i found when i did the long overnight thing, drinking a couple hot coffees, etc., that by the time i was standing in the checkout line i was very shaky and felt close to passing out came on suddenly!! - i am still thankful to the person in line behind me who had a soda in their pocket that they gave me - i apparently needed the sugar because soon after drinking it i felt ok, but it was really scary at the time. (this was before best buy sold snack items at checkout) so now i always pack those items - even though i'm not pg - and have no plans of more children, because that was not a scenario i ever want to repeat. it was really scary. i've never needed that juice and crackers, but who knows, i might someday or someone in line near me might. then i could pay it forward. btw, i got that computer. lol. it was a great computer! i recently gave it to a friend this past summer who needed one so it's still going strong!
  7. did you know you can easily customize most any laptop? they call them 'skins'. actually my kids personalized all the laptops in our house with holographic stickers. i've had many compliments on some of their 'work'. lol. (dollar store!) i actually put holographic stickers (butterflies) on my coffee travel mug (thermos brand) and i've had folks asking me where i got it so they could buy one, too. might be something to keep in mind as an idea - so you can focus on innards (specs) of computer, instead of color. i've not seen a pink one though - and unlikely to see one for a door buster i would think - because there would be low demand for it. if you go to amazon website and type in laptop skin you'll find all sorts of options. i know this wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but perhaps it would prove helpful. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=laptop+skin+pink is a link to amazon with search of laptop skin pink. saw some very cool ones!!
  8. yep, i've been doing it that way for years. actually didn't realize how long this thread was til someone commented on it. in my perspective, all i see is the most current post on top. click 'settings' (top menu bar after logging in), then left menu bar 'general settings', then scroll down til you see 'thread display options' and then you select thread display mode 'linear - newest first'. scroll down to bottom and 'save changes'. voila. you will now see most current posts on all threads. makes it really easy to read new info in short amount of time.
  9. my first suggestion - find out the minimum specs on whatever games she's really into. then buy a laptop based on those specs (but boost the ram as high as you can win 7 really does really really well on 8 gigs of ram (my husband is a gamer dude - plays these online games - and he has 8 gigs and never complains about speed issues - only occasionally do i hear about our internet - but that's not anything we can do anything about, that's trees falling during storms, lol.) we have a laptop we bought last year from walmart - before black friday actually - was just a regular laptop 15 inch screen. was win 7. came with 2 gigs of ram. worked ok (netbook class processor actually) but this week my husband went ahead and bumped it up to 8gigs ram - oh, wow is that making a difference in his 'puter!) that computer was $278+tax ($299 after all fees) at the time. when my son and husband come home, i'll check the netbook/laptop and edit this post to add in the laptop model number info. (edited to correct price - i found the receipt) - aspire 5749 is the model. it is a netbook class laptop (what that means is it looks like a laptop (15.6 inch screen) but has a slower processor in it - netbook class. honestly, for everything we've done on it, has not been a detriment. it does have a dvd player as well as hdmi outputs, many usb's, etc. my son is homeschooled - actually uses an e-school and this 'puter has worked awesomely for that. he doesn't have many storebought games on it though. he's more about flash games. i have used that computer for my college classes at times when needed and it has worked well to do all i need - email/net/online classes/graphics rich projects/term papers/spreadsheets/some power point stuff, that kind of thing.
  10. officially getting excited - best buy has the first 3ds bundle offering. (red case, mario game) $149.99 (who knows what kind of rebate thing is involved - the ad makes me wonder.) but i need 2. so i'm hoping it's not a rebate thing - one/per household kind of gobbledy gook. (i have 2 boys, very close in age - and have same tastes and interests, so they want the.exact.same.stuff. they even have their own language - which is adorable - but odd, 'cause they're not twins.) the ad: page 8 (i think) or perhaps page 9) http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/BestBuy/9 http://i.gottadeal.com/blackfriday/images/bf/BestBuy/GottaDeal-BestBuy-BF2012_9.jpg
  11. we have his and hers garmins. don't remember model number (they're in the vehicles) but they have lifetime maps and traffic. i get an update every 3 months it seems. (i have teh software downloaded to this netbook and it'll pop up letting me know there's an update when one is released, so i really am not sure how often - but it seems like i had 2 this year thus far. . . .) i love mine!! i cannot imagine doing all i do as a mom w/o it. emergencies, change of plans, no problem! one day my car broke down as we were leaving a science museum (closing time) in a town an hour away. i simply looked up local libraries nearby (so i had someplace safe to entertain the three little children) while i got messages over to the spouse to come help. it was that day i knew i would never live w/o a dedicated gps again. i never freak anymore about how to get from point a to point b - and i have some pretty long drives on a regular basis. when researching it, i discovered magellen and garmin were same map source, and tom tom was a different. i liked the magellen/garmin sources better. don't ask me why, now. it's been a couple years since i read up on them. something i think is fun - is that garmin has voice recorder thingy - i recorded my son at age 6 and he's often the voice i hear as i drive local. it makes me smile every time. esp his little silly comments he added - like 'feet, stinky feet'. just goofy stuff like that. it was fun for us to sit together at the computer, do the recordings, then upload it to the 2 gps's as an add'l voice option. just remembered i bought them from amazon. so here's what i own: they're model 1350LMT http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZX8B0U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02
  12. anyone else disappointed by the lack of 3ds bundles in the released ads thus far? (wondering - should i create new thread for this - it's a hand held video game, so not sure if it should have own thread or belonged in the all inclusive 'video game' thread).
  13. we are written budget people, so we have set aside a specific amount of money for christmas in total - including stocking stuffers as well as gifts. i pull from the envelope thruout the year to purchase aforementioned items. there are 2 items i'm specifically looking for, for black friday or whenever i see the best deal - i want to buy two 3ds bundles. so i have enough for them still in the envelope - even at current prices.
  14. i am hoping that lack of news means it hasn't happened yet and it's next saturday. they have an online specials going, but last year, it was all hush hush until last minute, so i'm wondering if that will happen again. we bought our living room tv at super saturday last year - it has turned out to be our favorite tv - really good deal - and has the best sound of all the tvs we have! (but we may not be best judge of sound, 1/2 of family is Deaf.)
  15. My favorite thing about Black Friday is the anticipation.

    Super Saturday?

Anyone have any info on Super Saturday? I had an alert on my calendar to remind me to check and see what kind of deals would be offered. *grin* any information would be greatly appreciated. Apparently, last year, there wasn't any chatter about it til the day before (friday nov 4, for saturday nov 5 sale).
  17. i'd go to the smaller walmart - IF i confirmed via map/sale that they were offering whatever gizmo/electronic i was just absolutely sure i needed. mostly because i could go later to it and have better chance of getting it. most folks will overlook the old store for the 'bigger, better' one. but i'm getting old so really i go path of least resistance. shoot, i ordered most everything i wanted from amazon, lol this year already. i do plan on going to wm sale because it's amusing to me, and i have a list, but the stuff i want, very likely it'll be there when the sale 'actually' starts, because they're not high priced, 'valuable' things. :) if i miss out on some of them, i won't be all that upset, either. blessings, bettyann
  18. walmart just posted them online. go to facebook and find your local walmart that way. i don't know how to get you a generic black friday map link. it'll give you alink. they just put them up a few minutes ago. hth.
  19. daftande - first question would be - do you care if it's plasma, lcd, or led-lcd? i personally prefer led lcd. but that's me. :) the super slim tvs have really tinny sound we've noticed. so a soundbar would be needed if you go that thickness. i hear you on the vga cable though! :) i use my netbook all the time hooked up to my tv. since my netbook is old - win xp and doesn't have hdmi cable, i have to use vga and stereo line to get it into my tv. i do like LG brand - that has a nice sound to it in the size range you're looking for - IF you don't go super slim. i wouldn't pay more than $200 for a tv in the 32" range. . . amazon has them now even! happy shopping!
  20. i connect my netbook all the time to my hdtv. just buy a vga male to male cable. and stereo plug to output audio. my hdtv doesn't have stereo plug input, so we have computer speakers i output to that are nestled under my tv. works well. (this is for small hdtv - the new one we just bought for us has more plugs and includes a computer speaker input plug (3.5? mm - i suck at remembering sizes of plugs) - standard headphone plug size - so i use a male to male for that, too. not hard at all to hook up - actually, i leave all that hooked up on tv, just change input source when i hook up netbook. (oh yeah, get yourself a wireless mouse/keyboard if you doln't have one) that makes it LOVELY for computer access in bed. i love my huge oversized 'monitor'. (i love how large i can make the pdf scans look! *grin*)
  21. I would suggest sitting down with paper and pen/pencil. make a list of what you would like to eat. ask the inhouse family members what THEY would like to have. then since you've got folks invited to attend - delegate out a dish to each person to bring - one can bring the green bean casserole thing, another can bring dinner rolls/corn muffins/whatever starch it is you are into, etc. since you said you like to bake desserts - i'd bake the pies (keep it to 3 varieties or less!) - you can bake 2 pies at once - some ovens can fit a third pie in at once - but don't cram tight need airflow. the day before to 3 days before. if they need fridge - and space is limited - either put outside ina cooler if outside temps are around 40ish *F or add ice to that cooler and put pies in, inside. lol. (not sure where you live). i put the cooler in my car actually to keep any critters from being able to nibble their way into the cooler. - oh yeah, if you have less than 12 people total - i'd keep it to no more than 2 pies of any one variety. some folks will want this, some will want that, some will want none, and some will want one of each - but you're still going to end up with 2 pies extra if you make 6 total (3 varieties). i freeze all my cheesecakes after i bake them - and those i bake severael weeks/month in advance - whenever the mood hits me to bake a cheesecake i do it - so i always have one/three in there - just thaw and serve if you want a heavy rich dessert as well. :) definitely making a list, then seeing what you can make in advance/reheat/cook day of - with times marked next to each item so you can get it all finished at same time. defnitely ask your family what their 'must have/favorite' dishes are. what you think you 'need' and what they WANT may actually be different and their suggestions may be less than you were planning. i know that was true for my family. then save that list year to yaer so you just pull it out and use it again next year. :) (and this way, you can note next to the item what were hits/misses - and who did a good job on whatever dish - and ask them to do it again - or give them different dish in future - or none!, lol.) because it is your first time doing it - i'd even note down the pans planned on being used - because you may find you need an extra saucepan to get all burners on stove in use at same time. :) that reminds me - i have a single burner electric unit thing that i use for holidays. gives me a 5th burner on my counter to cook something that didn't fit on stovetop. blessings, bettyann ps a friend suggested something brilliant this year to me - she's having everyone bring an EMPTY fridge storage container - to take leftovers home in. so everyone can eat hearty on friday and she won't have as much leftovers to deal with.
  22. i bought ours off amazon a couple/few years ago just during the year - no special time really - just a need at the time - it's even a coby v*zon brand. paid around $60 each for htem - we have three now. one of my kids stepped on one of them in the van getting out of her seat and broke the door off - the door that covers the dvd - but it still works fine - we just lay the cover on top once the dvd is inserted. (keep meaning to dig out the hello kitty duct tape and stick a piece on there to keep the door from falling off the player when it's flipped upside down) we bought them because we have so many medical appts that are a good long distance away and it keeps the kids quiet and happy - esp when there's a large supply of 'new' dvds to watch - namely library borrows (FREE!). i've been watching the black friday ads for the dvd players but haven't thought the prices were all that special - they're a wee bit cheaper than amazon price but not by much. if i were going to buy another one, (and i have been considering it), i'd look for battery life (the current players i have last about 2 ish hours. give or take a bit on that.) They do charge quickly though - and can be played whilst charging - (get a car inverter - best dohickey EVER for families with kids and electronics) and possibly even remote free. we lost one of the remotes a couple years ago. the players work w//o remote, but it's a bit of a hassle - hard to get past teh junk on dvds w/o the remote. i did see those dual screen dvd players for cars - what's nice about them is that they can play independently - because reality - the kids are not going to want to watch the same thing at the same time all the time. sometimes, yeah, but one child might want to watch dora and the other two bakugan. just sayin'. . . if you have more than 2 kids, 2 screens/2 dvds is gonna end up with some fights. we had one dvd player for a long while - that worked well - all had to share, but we couldn't go from one to two, (we have three kids close in age). we had to go from one to three players to avoid any discord. 'cause when one is driving down the highway, it's not the time to deal wtih kids fighting over the player. . . i believe in teaching the kids about sharing, etc on non moving ground. anyways, in summary: i would look at: battery power (perhaps lean towards LED screen!) remote - possibly remote free charging method - wall plug (preferred! - will offer more options for use) vs car cig lighter plug hth in some way.
  23. we usually put stockings on each child's bed at bedtime empty. then when they're asleep, we fill them with small toys as well as 'snack foods' - a drink box, cereal bars, orange (started peeled so it's easy to finish), etc. this way, when they wake up, they get to have 'breakfast' in bed (a major treat as we have a family rule - no food ANYWHERE but in kitchen) and they can open all their stocking items. it's the most adorable sound to hear the children giggling and crinkle sounds of snack bars being opened - it's a very special treat for them. i HAVE learned - do NOT put markers, crayons, stickers, scissors, glue, paint in the stocking. it will not end well and you'll be dealing with the aftermath for a year afterwards. (Still trying to get those stickers off the hardwood floors!) my kids are 7,5,3. the christmas rule is here - they can open their stocking anytime they awaken, but they CANNOT open any presents under/near the tree until after breakfast and the christmas story is shared and mommy/daddy say it's ok. i watch all year at dollar tree, big lots, target dollar spot/clearance, walmart party favors, meijer party favors, etc and look for things that i know my kids will get a kick out of and will (hopefully) last longer than 20 minutes. :)
  24. meijer - where are you? i checked the stats on previous years and the latest the ad was released was the 17th. do you think they'll make us wait that long? last year it was released on friday the 11th. .. . i just want to know what's in the ad! *stomping foot* *grin*
