  1. I stocked up on paper after Christmas last year and I also picked one of those wrapping paper containers from Target at the same time. Works like a charm!
  2. Usually the whole week before Christmas...and I enlist help! I hate wrapping alone.
  3. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=32DAAC51&nclm=Certified If your kid just wants the name "iPod" then here is a link for a re-furbished ipod shuffle for $29 bucks with a 1 year warranty. I think the shipping on that was $4. This is a way for the kid to get what they want and for you to save a lot of money. Now, the shuffle just plays the tunes as a playlist or in random order. There is no screen to go right to a certain song, but there are other deals on that page as well. If the link does not work, simply click on go back to the apple store and then scroll down and look to your left. Click on refurbished iPods and you will get the list of what they have offered. Hope that helps.
  4. Awwww, tati, I really feel for you. I wish I could just swoop you up here to be with my family for Thanksgiving! Just google "easy thanksgiving recipes" and you should find a lot to work with. Here's two to get you started and a few more you can google. ****************************************************** ROAST TURKEY Ingredients: 1 Turkey (9 1/2 lbs) Marinade: 1/4 cup dry mustard (4T) 2 TBLsps. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. cider vinegar 2 1/2 TBLsps. olive oil 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper Make more marinade if your turkey is larger than 9 1/2 lbs. Make marinade into a soft paste (more like a thick marinade) and paint it all over a well-thawed turkey, inside and out, a few hours before you're going to cook it, or the day before. Using: 1 onion 1-2 celery stalks some parsley 2 pieces of bacon 1 stick of butter Inside, place onion, celery, parsley. Across the breast lay bacon and in the crevice between the drumstick and the body, tuck in chunks of butter. Soak a dish towel or piece of cheesecloth in olive oil and lay it over the turkey, which you put in an uncovered roaster. Add 1 to 2 cups stock from cooking the gizzard, neck, etc. or use canned chicken broth, for basting right through the cheesecloth the whole time only once or twice during the roasting. You, of course, can baste more if you like. Cook at 300 degrees for: 7-10 lb.-30 min. per lb. 10-15 lb.-20 min. per lb. 15-18 lb.-18 min. per lb. 18-20 lb.-15 min. per lb. 20-23 lb.-13 min per lb. I did, however, cook my turkey 1 hour longer than the above scale shows. Don't worry the turkey will be the juicest ever. ****************************************************** CANDIED SWEET POTATOES Ingredients: 6 medium sweet potatoes, cooked and peeled 1/2 cup miniature marshmallows 2/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/4 cup butter Slice potatoes into 1/2" slices. Layer potatoes in a buttered 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish with mixture of sugar, salt and butter on top. Continue until ending with sugar and butter. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes or until glazed. Add marshmallows in the last 5 minutes; brown lightly. Serves 6. Google: Easy Mashed Potatoes Easy Macaroni and Cheese Easy Pumpkin Pie I like Italian Green Beans slow-cooked with country ham at Thanksgiving, too. I always bring the Squash Casserole to our dinner. We do a pot-luck Thanksgiving where everyone from my immediate family brings something to my Mom's and we have Thanksgiving there. Even if you just have the pumpkin pie, it would be something! Here are a few things in the link below from familyfun.com that I found for you to do. http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/feature/famf118pilgrim/famf118pilgrim.html
  5. LOL! The natives are getting restless. I actually think that Walmart will be last due to the big ad melee last year.
  6. And from sorta-personal experience, I can add that those Toys For Tots bins get stolen from, as well. A Marine I know was caught dipping into them several years ago.

  8. I was in Target this week with my 12 year old son and he was eyeing the spy stuff they have. It was on the same aisle as the Chat Now Communicators and Tamagotchi stuff. Electronic aisle in the toys section of the store. Lots of stuff between 15-20 bucks. They had nightvision goggles that looked kinda cool.
  9. Here is the Disney Toddler Cinderella: You can do a google image search on disney toddler princess and get pics of a few others.
  10. I think those Furreal animals are only one buck higher than that right now, anyway!
  11. Remember people, different demographics = different prices.
  12. OK, now you guys are all just being BIG TEASES. The WalMArt closest to me doesn't have a thing in lawn & garden. Take a peek! Live on the edge! :gdevillaugh:
  13. No. No percents off and no buy 1 get 1, etc. Only "dollar for dollar."
  14. My BF traditions may go out the door this year if certain retailers are indeed gonna open at midnight!
  15. Pretty gross, but to each his own, I guess!
  16. Sounds like a huge mess to me. DEFINITELY cross that one off the list.
  17. No black tarps at the 24 hour Supercenter on Woodruff Rd in G'ville. Big open bins that you're not *supposed* to be able to touch until "that time". Last year they ended up letting the very early people put the stuff in our baskets but we had to stay near the bins. The $10 CP newborns, $5 carebears, $5 mermaid barbies, $10 Little People Playsets were all basically together in the same area. I had the carebears covered, mom got barbies, SIL got CP newborns, etc....We got what each other needed and got the heck up outta there!
  18. Any hint on the specifics of the Junior 5-Piece Drum Set for 64.99?
  19. Not here. Last year all our WalMarts had an awesome system. Each cashier had a chain with a ring at the end hung from somewhere above the register. They had every ad you could dream of hung from that ring. You simply told them from which store you wanted a PM and they flipped through their ring of ads and found it. Of course I had my own ads to back it up, but I thought that was a very smart thing for WalMart to do.
  20. Yup, it's true: South Carolina --Sales and Use Tax: Thanksgiving Sales Tax Holiday Explained A release has been issued that provides detailed information on the two-day South Carolina Thanksgiving sales tax holiday that will begin 12:01 a.m. on November 24, 2006 (Friday), and end 12 midnight on November 25, 2006 (Saturday).
