  4. We played this last year and had some fun while waiting on the ads... I've added some suggested changes to this years game... here we go... The title of a Christmas song will be given and the next person has to take the LAST OR the FIRST Letter of the song title and name a song that STARTS with that letter... then the next person has to do the same from the last song title listed. Here is an example: Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer - so the next person would have to name a song title that starts with R - such as Rockin around the Christmas Tree... New Rule Try hard not to post duplicates on this list... use Google for little known songs if you have to (makes it more fun.) However if you hit a letter that has been clearly exhausted, use the second to last letter. So if we are out of "E"'s then let's use the letter before it. I'll start off with: Oh, Come all Ye Faithful... Next person must name a title that starts with the letter L http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608006707598396135&pid=15.1&P=0 *NOTE Just tweaked the game a bit to make it a little more fun... you now have YOUR choice of the LAST OR the FIRST Letter of the previous song title... this will give us a lot more songs to work with.

  6. I agree that it was much more fun to go out and shop years ago - we used to have so much fun in lines joking and laughing with others about how crazy we were for standing in a parking lot waiting for doors to open.
  7. I can remember doing Black Friday shopping when my grown girls were babies, so some 30+ years. How long have you been shopping on Black Friday? How would you say your shopping habits and the sales have changed over the years? http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608026245410719012&pid=15.1&P=0

  16. Gather round children and I shall tell you a story of how Black Friday was done MANY years ago (11 to be exact)... before blackfriday.gottadeal.com came along. The family would eagerly await the arrival of the newspaper on Thanksgiving day - filled with the wondrous Black Friday Sale Ads... we would divide them up and with notebook in hand we would write down the stores and the items we wanted from them. After all ads had gone through all hands we would compare lists and make out a game plan of which stores we would hit first and who went where. http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608009610985670007&pid=15.1&P=0 Fast forward to Black Friday and how we do it today... now, we are able to see the ads days, weeks and sometimes a month in advance on blackfriday.gottadeal.com, we use the "My Shopping List" under "Features" on the site and as ads are leaked we add the deals we want to our shopping lists. We then gather about a week before Black Friday, compare lists and make out our game plan. Do you pre-make your game plan? If so - how do you do it? (Notebook paper, computerized list, etc.)

  20. Don't feel bad - we ONLY have a Walmart and we just got that a few years ago - the nearest Target is in the next city and the nearest K-mart is over an hour and a half away! But - the internet is my BEST friend - living in the middle of nowhere. LOL
  21. When I was growing up we always lit a candle and sang Happy Birthday to the baby Jesus in the nativity scene before any gifts could be opened, to remind us of the "reason for the season". When my kids were little they were always allowed to open their Christmas PJ's from under the tree on Christmas Eve, then once in them we would always read "The Night Before Christmas" before they went to bed... They are all grown now - but still request me to read the book before they go to their homes when they visit on Christmas Eve each year.
  22. This year I am getting my mom a years worth of Direct TV, as it is a luxury item to her that she can't bring herself to pay for - but would truly enjoy. Hubby is hard to shop for as he buys anything and everything that he wants for himself - so I have been doing a few little gifts for him each year and then he gets a gift certificate to his favorite seafood shop and one to his favorite butcher shop to buy the foods he loves. (I benefit from these, too - so it's a win-win situation.)
  23. I've gotten a TON of great bargains and deals throughout my MANY years of Black Friday shopping and thought it would be fun to hear what others have gotten that they consider their BEST Deal or Deals from their Black Friday shopping sprees. Lets share... http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608003563668767341&pid=15.1&P=0
  24. I think 12 hours counts as camping out... your legs must have been KILLING YOU! Did your wind up getting the TV?
