HELP! Which GPS? I dont know the differences
Swampbaby replied to Mzkitty_Phx's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
After you sort out what you think you want, try Provantage.com as they had the very best price on the unit we are getting. Ordered it Tuesday afternoon and it will arrive at our doorstep tomorrow (Friday). As for maps, you will pay for the updates and even Garmin says about every 2 years should be fine. Traffic delays - be sure the area he is delivering to has the ability. Here in our town we are out of luck. -
I have the FujuFilm S5000 with 10X optical zoom and 3.1mp and have no problem printing 8 x 10 and even 11 x 14 from the shots. Now, we are looking for a digital for our son - who wants something to stick in his pocket - yet I'm afraid that 3X is simply not going to make it.

THANKS

Anyone had some experience with this web site? There is a digital camera listed that I would like to get but have not even heard of this place.

If they are going away then why does the remodeled WalMart SuperCenters all seem to have them. They just finished ours a few months ago and yep, the self checkouts are there. In fact, a lot of times they are the only thing "open" besides one or two cashier lines. Personally, I hate the dang things.

What's sad is we have a Super Wal-Mart in town. Other than that, it's Penney's, a small Sears, Belk's, and Staples. To find Target, K-Mart (Super K), Circuit City, Best Buy, CompUSA, or actual LARGE stores it's a min. of 53 miles from home and some 80-95 away. That's about the only reason I can think of that our Wal-Mart stays busy - not a whole lot to choose from. Since the remodel they do not carry yard goods, very little crafts, and have actually cut back on the variety of some toiletry items. They've managed to put the small stores out of business over the past few years and now want to further control retail. Sam Walton built a good business sense business and now it's going to hell in a hand basket and doing it faster than ol' Sam could ever have imagined.

Two years ago we wanted a TV that was advertised. Hubby was at one outside entrance and I was at the inside Mall entrance. That gate started up and I darted under and took off to the electronics dept, getting there before the register was even opened. NO, they did not have the TV but we were first in line for sure.

Dept 56 Christmas in the City. DS has some of the Dept 56 New England Village. Angels - have them all over the place with a couple left out all year.

Plus, at Shoebuy.com you pay no shipping and no taxes for most states. Made a huge difference in total cost for me, something like $19 vs $32, and only took a very few days to receive. LOVE that place and I can thank Gottadeal posters for the original info.

I have to agree with the Fuji S700 as it's a 10X OPTICAL zoom. I have the Fuji S5000 and it's been wonderful. VERY good quality pictures (and it's only 3.1) and I can print 8 x 10's with no problem.

We got our son glasses from a local place. They have specials with the whole thing running like $59.00 for single vision (or whatever it's called for not bi-focals, etc). Of course, they also have the expensive frames but seems that the kids around here like the ones offered on special. ALSO, when I lost a brand new pair on vacation, which were purchased at the same place as our sons, I got a replacement pair for about 1/2 the price. Talked to them on the phone and they were ready when we returned home. At least I did have a spare I could use until returning home.

Boo Hoo. The Lowe's here in Waycross didn't have much on sale at all. I do go to Lowe's a lot and will have to start watching what the trend is on the big sales. It's only a couple of miles from home and right across the street from Wal-Mart.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2007
Swampbaby replied to 1angelnhvn's topic in Offline Hot Deals
I was at Target today and I saw this six drawer Mission dresser marked down to 62.50 from 249.99. I really needed that dresser and there was only one left but it would not fit into my car and I just know that someone is going to buy it before I can get back there with a truck and someone to help me unload it when I get home. I had that exact situation at our local Wal-Mart on a storage bench. Only ONE brown but at least 8 of the black ones. I needed the brown so I simply went to a manager and asked how to handle it. I ended up buying it, them putting a sold sign on it (and sitting it on the flat truck by the service center. I went up and got our truckand they acutally loaded it for me. -
FINALLY received ONE of the rebates from Staples. It was for $50 and is simply a postcard so reckon anyone could have cashed it. Still have one more from Staples coming. Both of these were filed 11/24/06 and today is 2/2/07 - which in my mind is entirely too long for processing. Back on 1/22 it showed mailed (and had done so for several days) and it arrives 2/2. Mighty odd that nothing I mail takes that long. The 2nd rebate does not even show approved so who knows how much longer for that $25 to arrive.

My two Staples rebates were submitted within minutes of each other on 11/24. One has stated mailed for a full week and the other is still in "validation". We are now beginning our TENTH week of waiting. I've received Staples rebates before and realize what they look like - the only problem is this extremely long processing time. Right now they are sitting on $75 worth of rebates. I've received and cashed all the other BF rebates and did this prior to Jan. 1st.

Staples is AWFUL on rebates. I have always had to wait weeks and weeks on any from them but other companies seem to be able to process in a short time frame. Sent two Staples rebates ($50 and $25). Have NOT received either, however, yesterday one of them was approved and a check made but the other was still in "validation". Odd cause both of them were done on the same day - NOVEMBER 24th. Had a SanDisk rebate send in several days later and received the rebate check right after Christmas. All of these were rebates sent in via computer. I agree, a company bets that most people will either forget about sending the rebate in at all OR will not comply with the rules so therefore be turned down.

Walmart to discontinue some stores Fabric Departments
Swampbaby replied to kjunea's topic in Offline Hot Deals
We got the report that our Wal-Mart fabric department is closing. I do know we are due a complete overall - and have been a SuperCenter for several years. The fabric rows have gotten smaller and smaller but still you could find a lot of useful items. Really sad part is we do have a sewing machine center here in town that carries fabric but it is VERY EXPENSIVE and sure doesn't have the notions that Wal Mart has had in stock. That's it for fabrics unless you go 70 miles away. I agree, poor Sam must be spinning in his grave to see what has gone on with "his" stores over the past few years. -
We only have a Staples in town also. They will NOT price match on a store that is out of town. Seeing as how the nearest place even our size is 60 -70 miles in three different directions I guess they feel they have the market sewed up. WRONG.

I hit our Staples about 4 this afternoon. Unless there is a large supply in the back room I'm afraid things will sell out long before the final date. One neat thing I picked up was the little "First Aid" kit for 99 cents. It will be perfect to stash in a suitcase to have "just in case". Got a couple packs of the bubble mailers plus several Rub-A-Dub pens (with a youth organization that requires clothes to be marked those are always needed) as well as many other items. Then called a couple of school teachers I know who will be making their way to Staples for sure.
