  1. DD got a camera phone from Tracfone. It has no earpiece :g_thumbsd How's that for faulty production?

We will get a new one in 5-10 business days :( She's quite upset and I don't blame her.

Excellent customer service from Tracfone-dd received new phone DHL yesterday and we are up and running and got extra minutes free for our trouble. I just sent a nice email to them. They really were on the ball considering it's the holiday season :)

  2. Our cats normally get canned Friskies or the equivalent for "breakfast" and "dinner". They have dry food and water out all the time too.

For Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and Easter, I'll give them canned Fancy Feast (a turkey variety for T-Giving and Christmas). I'd give them ham flavor on Easter, but they don't seem to make that.

Does anyone else do this with their pets, or am I the only freak? http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Animals/catyum.gif

I'd give them Fancy Feast all the time, but with seven of them, it would get a little expensive...

I do the same thing. I buy my kittys Fancy Feast :D for Holidays too ;)

  3. This is a nice story and a very giving thread. My son and I unofficially adopted a family of one of his class mates. Since I have made many donations to the school, the teacher asked if we could possibly help since the little girl (classmate) asked the teacher if Santa can still come even if they don't have enough money to buy a tree. This little girl is so sweet and hearing this just broke my heart. We bought a tree, lights, decorations and brought lots and lots of wrapped presents for the little girl and her 2 sisters. It really does feel good to give. I went to the class party yesterday and was totally shocked when the little girl came and hugged me and said thank you (with a little tear in her eyes). I wanted to contibute to the family in secret for many reasons, but someone in the school office told her. I wish I could convey the feelings I felt as this precious child was absolutely sparkling when she told me about the lights and decorations on her tree, and she said she has never seen so many presents in her whole life. Sorry, time for a litttle boohooing from this Secret Santa.

That made me cry :cry2: How sweet of you to make that little girls Christmas so special.

Elena-kudos to you too. My sister has been doing that for about 8 years now. She asked us all if we minded if she doesn't buy gifts for us so she could use her money for a family. She does an incredible job throughout the year. She also volunteers at a pet shelter and rings the bell for the Salvation Army.

    You are all angels :)

  4. I LOVE that! I was going to make one too as I didn't want to fork over my youngest child to pay for one. I thought about just using a large and two smaller wreaths though. I really like the way you have the ornaments on it.

You know, if you make another wreath and attach a big red bow you can hang it over one ear and make it Minnie.

I would have had to made a HUGE wreath if I used 2 small wreaths for the ears. I just couldn't find any, so I comprimised. Maybe a Minnie for next year ;)

  5. This is kinda silly but my parents did it for me. I was five years old and I still remember this as if it were yesterday.

I woke up Christmas morning, we all went downstairs. I had been BEGGING for a bicycle. I didn't see one downstairs, so I was sort of sad. Our tradition was to eat breakfast first, so we did that. We then began opening presents. Half way through my Dad told me to let the cat inside (which was a normal thing for me to do). So I opened the front door and there was my bike on the porch! I was screaming and jumping up and down, lol.

We sort of did this with my dd and her bike a few years back. We always kept our soda on the front porch(enclosed) to stay cold. After gifts were opened, I asked her to grab me a soda from the porch- a normal routine for her. She saw the bike and was so excited she was crying. It was her last year believing too. It was magical for her.

  6. I can't find any Holiday glass block pics, but here is a St. Louis Cardinal one I made for my boss a long long time ago.

They are made by buying those glass blocks from Lowes or Home Depot. You use a diamond drill bit to drill glass. My hubby does this as I continually squirt water on the spot where he is drilling because it gets super hot and will smoke. When it finally breaks through, it will pop leaving all the air out of the block and scares the crap out of me. The glass shards will end up inside block. I just rinse it out and let the water drain out completely. Then you find a pic you like, edit it to fit block and print out. I use modge podge to glue it to the glass block. Then you take a strand of 20 clear lights and shove them in the hole. Now the decorating starts. I always trim out pics with ribbon, add something on top like a huge bow or christmas pick-in this case, I found a bat and ball and E6000 them to the block. I don't think I did for this one, but I buy those little clear half marble thingys ($ store for a huge bag) and I E6000 to bottom of block for feet.

These are time consuming, but they are cheap to make and they sell for big bucks at craft shows. I have never sold any, just make them for gifts.

  7. See I am not too happy with these, But then again I have no talent, and please don't tell me other wise

Why arent you happy with these? They are beautiful. The only thing I did different was I wrapped some ribbon around the top of the ornament -over the gold hanger hoopy thingy. I like that irredecent (sp?) on the one.

    Ya done good.

  8. We just had this discussion here-me and the hubby. He thinks we should just put them under the tree now. My youngest is 14 btw. I say nope. I don't care how old they are, their eyes still get that special twinkle when they wake up Christmas morning and see all the gifts under the tree and ...my kids are rotten-my 14 yo dd would unwrap her stuff in a New York minute then rewrap it. I'm sure her brothers would sneak a peek too :wife:

I have all my packages stored in the back room at my work- all wrapped- just need to throw bows on them before putting under the tree. They are safe at my work :tongue1:

  9. how do you make Turtles?

I just saw a simple recipe for this. You buy a bag of pecan halves, bag of carmels and bag of Hershey kisses.

On a lined cookie sheet, arrange 3 pecan halves to resemble a clover with the edges touching each other. Then place one carmel on center of pecans, then one kiss on top of carmel and bake in 300 degree oven for a few minutes- just until all melted. I am trying this one tomorrow :D

  10. I get my clear ornies from Michaels and the same with the feathers. I had a hard time finding plain white feathers, but I did. Another idea for feathers is go to the Dollar store and get a childs feather boa and yank a good sized one out of there- after you buy it of course ;)

I print out the poem on parchment paper, cut with a scalloped sissors, use a hole punch and string a pretty ribbon through it and attach to the ornie.

Wait til I show you my glass blocks :rotflol: I just have to find the pics.
