  1. I didn't get the sears ad in my paper and the graphical web version is not cooperating with my modem connection here.

Are the prices listed in the ad for a particular size, or any size? I can't read the fine print on the ad scans and the text version of the ad online doesn't say.

The tires I'm looking at are the BF Goodrich Traction T/A, sale price is listed as $54.99.

Now, it says "Save $16 - $24 on 4" - to me the fact that they gave a savings RANGE might indicate that it's for multiple sizes. But on the other hand, the tires in my size are $80 regularly, so that would be quite a bit more than a $24 savings on 4... meaning it's probably NOT all sizes. So if anyone has the ad and can read the fine print that I can't read on the ad scan, could you let me know if it specifies a size? :)

  2. I just drove by BB and CC are right next to each other. The BB people are smart and put their chairs out and are sitting in their cars. The CC people are stupid and there are 5 people sitting outside in the cold. Of course I want to go to CC...but it's 10 degrees and the wind chill is 10 below...why oh why?!?!!?

Sounds like a recipe for confrontation unless they get in those chairs before anyone else gets in line. I could see people just bypassing the chairs or moving them.

  3. The ad came today and there is a footnote attached to all the prices. The footnote leads to a statement that says the $250 instant rebates only apply with 2-year activation. :( . Who ever thought of requiring new service with every phone you purchase. What if I just want a phone dammit. Sure its great when you first buy a phone, but who the hell wants to keep the same phone for two years...every six months there are major improvements.

Uh... don't you think it costs them money to design and make the things? ;) If they sold them for $50 without requiring a 2 year commitment, they'd be losing money.

  4. Is that actually a punishable crime? If I were to get a Wal-Mart vest, walk in to Wal-Mart and start helping people/telling actual employees what to do, is that actually against the law?

I've always thought that would be hilarious and with stores like Super Wal-Mart...there's no way that regular employees would catch on at first.

They'd probably get you for tresspassing or something.

  5. Rush Hour 2

    Goldmember

    Minority Report

    Catch Me if You Can

    Demolition Man

    Devil's Advocate

    Billy Madison

    Road to Perdition

    Lethal Weapon 2

    Spy Game

    Sleepers

    Falling Down

    Lethal Weapon 3

All worth $3.44. Not good enough to get me into the store though. :)

(that's not a complete list... just the ones I've seen that are worth buying for what you'd pay to rent it at Blockbuster ;))

  6. Not necessarily. companies like B&H dispell that theory:

    B&H Photo-Video-Pro Audio

    Customer Satisfaction

    Six-Month Rating: 9.49 Six-Month Reviews: 624

    Lifetime Reviews: 1300

    Lifetime Rating: 9.14

Don't you think it's interesting that Best Buy, a national chain, had 23 reviews in 6 months, and a much smaller camera store has 624 rewviews in 6 months?

Most people will never have a problem with Best Buy... as long as they read their return policy (it's the only store I've ever seen that has the return policy on a huge 15'x15' sign in the store... they're not trying to hide anything).

If you're worried, ALWAYS pay with a credit card. If you have a problem with them, do a chargeback.

  7. I don't have personal experience with that drive, but:

    - 5400 RPM is slow, 7200 RPM is standard now

    - I don't see any mention of the cache, but it's likely 2 MB. I believe 8 MB is pretty standard now.

    - I don't see any mention of the warranty length. 1 year? 3 years? 5 years?

On the plus side, it's a 2.5" drive (laptop size), so it's pretty portable.

If you don't need the extra portability (personally I don't carry external hard drives around in my pocket...) or you want more than the dismal 40 GB of storage space that drive comes with, this could be an example of something you could get a better deal on year-round. Hard drive deals are a dime a dozen. I just recently bought a 300 GB, 7200 RPM, 8 MB cache, 5-year warranty drive for $79 after rebate... plus $20 for an external enclosure.

  8. So I urge you all please take the time to write a letter to everyone above, you can use the same email if need be, IF ANYONE WANTS TO WRITE A NICE TEMPLATE THAT WE CAN ALL COPY AND PASTE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. THIS WAY WE CAN FLOOD THEM

I would not use a form letter, it would be ignored. But thanks for the e-mail addresses, I re-sent my e-mail directly to Andy Wise.

Judging from his response to all2tired got though, I don't think they care too much about the truth.

  9. Can't believe that all the Blue Laws haven't been challenged in courts. Separation of church and state and all that.

Well they don't tell you you have to go to church. ;) And Thanksgiving isn't a religious holiday.

But I really did hate not being able to buy alcohol on Sunday when I went to college in Indiana. :)

  10. I'll be in Allentown with my mom. If you are going to Best Buy get there early. The parking lot is always horrible.

I LOATHE going up to MacArthur Rd during the holidays! I've spent an hour just waiting to get out of the parking lot of the Lehigh Valley Mall!

Edit: scarface, in my experience traffic flows much more smoothly near the Bridgewater Commons than at the Lehigh Valley Mall. :)

  11. Any one else who sent an e-mail get one back? I sent my e-mail to the station manager and didn't get mcuh back, but I did get this from her.

"Thank you for letting us know your opinion on this story. I will share

your comments with our news director. Thank you for watching News Channel 3."

And I don't watch her station, heck I'm in GA!! lol But there are local viewers that are members here so she should consider my opinions.

I just sent mine to the [email protected] address they have on the main page. No response.

  12. The store really shouldn't allow that. Maybe the people you hear about getting trampled every year are the people who cut in line, and it was intentional. ;)

Some people really have no shame.

  13. One thing I brought up in my e-mail is that they apparantly didn't give Brad a chance to comment. Usually you see these negative stories and they end with "so and so declined to comment" or "could not be reached for comment." Not so here. If they had given Brad a chance to comment, he could have cleared up the inaccuracies.

I really think you should sue them Brad. At least talk to DevilsAdvocate or another lawyer you know online and see what your options are.

  14. More than anything else they should be embarassed about the hacky "gottadeal/nottadeal" title. Ooooh, they made it rhyme... idiots.

Heh... when I showed Jenni the video she asked why they only went after Gottadeal and no other Black Friday sites - the best reason I could come up with is that they couldn't make the other sites rhyme with anything. ;)

  15. I was thinking about writing an email myself. I think I will!! Everyone of us should send them an e-mail. BUT...IF YOU DO...

REMEMBER...don't be rude or sarcastic. Don't show your:gd_shake: b/c that won't get us or the website anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to tell them off. But it will just get tossed to the side if it's in a bad manner. The way to get your point across is to be as nice as possible about it. Just simply tell them that you're not sure where they have gotten their information but the ads so far have been pretty well on the money. And that there is no way for Brad or Ross to have copied the ad off Wal-Marts website since GottaDeal had it a month ago. (Or whatever you want to tell them). Tell them if they take a more in depth look at the site they will notice these ads were leaked way before they were on the companies web sites. Also, if they believe the ads are sooooo incorect then they should do a follow up story after tomorrow when all the print ads are in hand.

Ok, lets get writing everyone!!! :slaphappy

Well I TRIED to tone it down as much as I could. :) But they're a news organization, when faced with the facts it won't matter what packaging it comes in, they'll have to run a retraction. And it sure as heck better get as much airtime as that drivel did!
