  1. First of all I probably shouldn’t even waste my time responding to your comment. Obviously you don’t understand the situation. It’s not about getting a friggin toilet seat for 75% off. It’s about customer service, and responsibility!!

First of all, this particular seat was BOLTED to the shelf with a price tag of $4.99. When I took it to the register it scans for 3x that amount?? If you went to buy something KNOWING it was one price, only to get to the register to find out it costs 3 times more you would be ok with that??.. . I think not.

I have been trained and worked in customer service for a retailer. There had been situations where an item scans wrong. But because we value our customers, and want them to be loyal to us, plus we also know there is human error at times, we would at least honor the price!!! It’s called customer service.

Secondly, it's more about the way the cashier/manger handled it. She didn’t have to insult my intelligence or question literacy. I asked her a question and she ignored me, She stomped her feet, and gave an attitude.

I’m sorry I don’t care who you are, nobody deserves to be treated like that.:yup:

I understand the situation quite well, thanks. If I see something at a store like Target that looks like it's too good a deal, the first thing I do is scan it at one of their price checkers to make sure that it wasn't mismarked or placed in the wrong location. But if I did make it up to the register and it rang up for 4x the price that was on the shelf, I'd just decline the purchase instead of insisting on getting it for the marked price. I wouldn't feel right about taking advantage of an employee's mistake like that.

No doubt the cashier was rude, and she shouldn't have been. I just don't let inconsequential stuff like that bother me.

Honestly, do you think you're acting rationally here?

    1. Your husband pities the CSR you talk to on the phone, so apparently you're going to go off on someone who was entirely unrelated to the situation.

    2. You're considering canceling your Target accounts because of the actions of one employee.

It's a bit of an overreaction. It's not like she kicked your dog...

  2. I'd watch the Sunday sale flyers. Black Friday desktop PC deals aren't all that spectacular, especially when you figure in the time you spend waiting.

CompUSA has had a Compaq for $200 at least twice this year, I think 3 or more times.

CircuitCity has had an Acer for <$300 3 or more times this year. (I got one for $270 with a CRT monitor and all-in-one printer). They usually have a 17" LCD as a $50 upgrade, but it's not widescreen.

  3. Is that before or after tax? DDD has it for $34.66, but they're in Ilinois so you'd have to add tax. FYE probably has a location in Illinois too, so that's why I asked if it was before or after tax. :)

I hate rebates, so for a difference of $5 I'd probably go the non-rebate route.

But to answer your question - that seems like a really good price from what I've seen, I wouldn't expect to see it much lower than that for a while.

  4. My understanding is the 360 price will drop $100 when the PS3 releases. Its there way of trying to blow them outta the water. Thats what my husband told me

    Mara

It's possible and rumored, but Microsoft won't announce any price drop ahead of time so we'll have to wait and see. :)

It would be nice though, I'd probably buy an Xbox 360 early next year if the price was that low.

I'll buy a PS3 too... when they hit ~$250 for the low-end model... in about 5 years ;)

  5. From what I hear the quantity available for preorder at EB Games/GameStop was really low (like 14 per store). Sold out at every store near me pretty much as soon as they opened. Good thing I got my preorder from Amazon.com. :)

I read they will have over 7 million on the market before Christmas so getting one will not be much of an issue. The numbers will be so high that by the holidays you should be able to walk into the stores and find them on the shelves. Actually one campain is tat XBOX lowered the price of the 360 so you can buy a Wii and a 360 and a game for the same price as a PS3.

Yeah, it should be no issue getting one before Christmas. I'm not aware of any official price drops on the 360, but it can be found for below retail so you could get a Wii+360 for the price of a PS3.

Thanks for the heads up but I'll stick with PS3...yeah I think Nintendo Wii is childish and doesn't create new characters for Nintendo.

But maybe I'll pre-order it for a friend or something since Super Mario Galaxy sounds good.

Childish? Check the list of launch titles. Blazing Angels, CoD 3, FarCray, Madden 07, Red Steel, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, World Series of Poker - these are not childish games. Nintendo is trying to shed that image this time around, mostly with third party support.

I've never considered Nintendo systems to be "childish." Those "childish" games are some of most fun games I own - Mario Power Tennis, Mario Kart Double Dash, etc.

  6. I gave in and ordered it.

The video's playing bowling, and racing sold me. I can't wait for some baseball and golf games to come out. That will be sweet.

Wii Sports includes baseball and golf, but I don't expect full-fledged games out of Wii Sports. It's more of an introduction to the system/control scheme. It'll be a cool party game, but I don't think the games will have enough depth to make it a fun 1-player game.

I wonder what the differences will be between the Wii version and the GC version since the Wii will be able to play either since it's backwards compatible.

I don't think there will be any substantive differences other than the control scheme. At E3 they showed how you'll be able to shoot a bow and arrow with the Wii-mote + nunchuck and fish with the Wii-mote. And of course Link has a sword, so you'll probably be able to control that by swinging the Wii-mote. I'd hope that the Wii version will also let you control Link with the GameCube controller.

Forum page shows 33 replies (currently, as of Frieked's reply at 3:44 p.m.). Thread shows 26 posts (or 25 replies). Forum page shows that the thread is two pages. Thread only has one page (since it has less than 30 replies or whatever the threshold is for a second page). Forum page shows Frieked's post at 3:44 p.m. as the last post in the thread, thread shows the same so I know there's nothing I'm missing on this phantom second page.

I guess you guys must have deleted or hidden or moved 8 posts? Anyway, I guess there's some bug in vBulletin or some plug-in you're using.

Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. :)

  8. LOL - Thanks for thinking of me. I got my Nalgene bottle from UPS yesterday. I have a few Nalgene knockoffs I got from Target, but they didn't have a sipping insert. Well, as it turns out, the sipping insert fits the Nalgene knockoffs I got from Target. :gdthums:

Way to go, tard! I could have told you that. :P I have a ton of the Eddie Bauer lexan bottles from Target, most of them I got on clearance for $1.25.

  9. Before you buy anything from Borders with the coupon, look around for prices online. :) Borders usually sells stuff in their B&M stores for MSRP, you can find a lot of books for much less elsewhere.

The best way I've found to get good deals on books is to buy used books or publishers' remainders.

  10. mugs, matt - why is this one tempting?? I like the one Dell had during the 10 days of deals (pre dead Toshiba laptop).

All extremely cheap laptops are tempting to me. :D I'd like to have a new one, but it doesn't have to have great specs because it wouldn't be my main computer. Just need something portable. I'm in the process of rehabilitating my old one to serve that purpose, but I'm having issues getting it to boot from a CD. :)

I agree with Ross on the 512 MB of RAM, and I'd settle for a plain old 15" non-widescreen LCD. It'd totally buy it if it had those two things.

    Edit: Maybe

  11. If you're ruling out Costco and Sam's Club, there's always Walmart. I like Costco though. If you drive in snow, BF Goodrich's Traction T/As are great. DEFINITELY use Tirerack to look at ratings and user reviews. Don't base your purchase on price alone. More expensive tires are not necessarily better.
