  3. Boy you are catching feelings, I'm not trying to put you down by any means, as I said earlier I know you meant well, but couple of things you said was off. Let me be clear: on a 720p set a 1080 signal will be downscaled to match the 720p native output of the panel, on a 1080i or 1080p set it will upscale a 720p signal to match its panel. lets agree to disagree and be friends, I think we have helped the masses enough!
  4. I'm not going to get in a argument over this, I'm a a/v tech with 10 years in the business, I have experience with LCD's, plasmas, dlp's, plus old school tube based rptv's. You giving your opinion as fact and you sir are wrong about tv resolutions. LCD and plasma tv's have a native resolution ether 720p or 1080p for most sets, hd tube based tv's are usually 1080i ( in fact a properly calibrated rptv still produce some of the best hd pictures beating most newer technology such as lcd and plasma) Tv's have a built in scaler chip that will take a signal and ether up or downscale the resolution to mach the tv's NATIVE resolution. Under 50 inch class tv's, there is really no difference between 720p and 1080p. Now larger then 50 inch yes spring for a 1080p set which are usually at 1080p when you reach these size classes anyway. As for as quality tv's let me give a example, the Panasonic VIERA 42" Class 720p 600Hz Plasma HDTV is of higher quality then the Insignia 42" Class 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV, both are on sale for 498.00 at Best Buy. The 720p 600hz plama tv will produce a better picture then the 1080p lcd and produce better black tones. I can get more technical with plasmas hz rating versus lcd's hz ratings and refresh rates but I don't have the time to type all that out. Peace my brother;)
  5. Wow I know you meant well, but they are plenty of mistakes in your post. First of all 720p and 1080i are TWO different resolutions. Now a 720p tv can take 1080i resolution and downscale it to its native 720p or a 1080i tv will upscale a 720p to match its 1080i panel. Now in all honestly you will not notice a big difference between the two. 1080p and 1080i are the SAME resolution the only difference is that 1080p is progressive scan which updates the whole screen every frame, 1080i is interlace and updates half the screen every frame. In layman's terms the 1080p will produce a slightly smoother picture(most people don't even notice) then on a 1080i set, the detail is the same on both resolutions. As far bluray is concerned it will look good on any hd tv whether its 720p, 1080i or 1080p. I've seen bluray on all hd tv resolutions and its stunning even on a 720p set. What people don't realize is that its not the resolution that's most important, its also the quality of the set itself, I have seen a high quality 720p set look way better then on a low quality 1080p set. My advice is to get the highest quality set you can afford this black friday. Don't worry so much about the resolution, when you get the tv home calibrate it and enjoy!!!
  6. Thats a good deal on that lappy, the weak point I see is the cpu is not a dual core but it will surfice for most things people will do with a laptop. The cpu is basicly a single core C2D chip plenty strong for basic things.
  7. Let me clear up some things regarding 720p and 1080p. a tv that is 50 inch or lower a 720p can be just as good picture quality wise as a 1080p tv even with blu ray. the quality of the tv plays a bigger role the the rez. of tv. I have a 2 year old 720p 46 inch plasma that has a stunning pic on blu ray.
  8. Acer owns Gateway and emachines they are a good compeny!!! I just bought a Acer 4530 on newegg for 450.00, I thought it was a great deal and I dont have to stand in line, :)
  9. Acers have greatly improved as of late, I looked at the hp g60-120us at cc( which is a better laptop then wal-mart g60-121wm) and it looked cheap in contruction. the Acer is the better laptop , dual core cpu, better gpu, same size hd the only advantage the wm laptop has is more memory 3gb vs 2 gb.
  10. Actually I was looking at this laptop before I found out it was a sempron cpu(which by the way is still a deceit cpu for basic emailing and web browsing). I ended up getting the $449.00 acer 4530 laptop from newegg which has a dual core QL-60 AMD cpu and better gpu.
  11. The AMD turions x2 are very good proc. They are plenty powerful for most people, they usaully stronger the Pentuim dual cores but slightly less the the same clock Core2 Proc. I had a AMD Turion TL-58 x2 (a dual core 1.9 ghz) it handled all my high def video veiwing and editing with ease.:)
  12. all tv's sold now has to be dtv compatible so yes it has a digital tv tuner!
  13. A quick correction the arcade does not come with hd component cables, but most hdtv's have hdmi which the arcade bundle has, so it will do hd!

    Desktop PC's

We got the $200 desktop and $220 "secret" laptop deal last year at Best Buy. We got there at 6:30pm on Thanksgiving day, we was 38th in line. This was in Tulsa,Ok which is a medium size city. We got the 2nd to the last flier for the desktop, most people wanted the laptop. I don't know how will it be this year, They did build a 3rd best buy this summer so hopefully there will be more chances to get the good items! In my experience go to the lesser known best buy in your area, you may have a better chance.
  15. ether bestbuy or walmart depending on sales
  16. was in line at best buy at 6:40 pm thanksgiving evening was 38th in line, lol
  17. The was thread on here asking if the 199.97 computer was a good computer for everyday use. Well my mother bought the computer, of course I had to set it up. But to my surprise it is pretty speedy considering it is a single core cpu at 1.6 ghz. The Celoron 420 is basicly a single core conroe cpu. Works real well with vista prem. with every day tasks, the computer replaces a amd 2400xp cpu computer.:)
  18. i bought the 22 envision for 149.00, mine has no dead pixals and looks pretty sharp, im happy with it.
  19. the dvd player is poor upconverter, hd-dvd is can be had for a good price with 5 free hd dvds, and is a good upconvert for sd dvd
  20. Correct another gig of ram, and a deceit graphics card, it will play most game ok.
  21. I fyou have a aldi close to you, they have have them for 59.99 now.
  22. Thanks for putting it in layman's terms for folks. The the "core solo" based celly 420 is equal to a p4 in the 3.2 ghz range. It still ok for vista and basic word processing, email and web surfing, I'm going to try to get this deal for my mother, this will be perfect for her.
  23. I want to clear some confusion about the cpu, the 420 celly is a single core duo processer, at 1.6 ghz it does more work per clock cycle then a p4. It's faster then a 3.2 ghz p4, I wish they would do away with the celoron name, it gives it a poor rep. With the proper ram it will run vista fine for everyday apps. Hope this helps.
