  1. Best Buy has the ATI X1600 Pro 512MB AGP Graphics Card for $99.99. HOWEVER, I don't think it's all that good a card (I read a discussion that was not very favorable). CompUSA will have the ATI Radeon 9550 256MB AGP Video Card for $49.99. I have to look into the reviews for that. CompUSA also has the GeForce 6600 256MB Agp or PCI-E Video Card for $69.99. That is supposed to be one of the top video cards under $100.
  2. My daughter (who is older than one would expect given this request) wants some of the old Disney movies on DVD (Pocahontas, Aladdin, etc -- the ones that are currently available, not the ones that are "in the vault"). I know in the past I've seen Disney movies on sale on BF, but all I see this time is Little Mermaid at CC. Does anyone have these on sale? Also has anyone seen the recent release of Princess Bride on sale for BF? And before anyone suggests Deep Discount DVD, I already checked and they're not particularly cheap, even with the current 20% off. Thanks...
  3. A co-worker is claiming that the laptop was not listed in the ad as "One Time Offer" and he complained to WM that he is entitled to a raincheck or comparable model. Does anyone know for sure how it was listed? I do not see the scans online anymore (here or elsewhere). I'm pretty sure that it was listed as one time.
  4. I had the same experience. So I went and bought another one of the same item off the shelf and returned it with the original receipt. Of course, then my wife went and bought it again at the sale price, because she did not realize what I had done, so now I have to return it again.. grrr.... Really stupid on Target's part - for a $1 savings.
  5. I'm pretty sure they've had the free movie ticket offer for a couple of weeks now.
  6. FYE Coconuts Not even free batteries ($4.99 AR for 48 at Coconuts) :-(
  7. Look, you are trying to claim that the majority of customers have problems with Best Buy, and it just isn't true. We all know you were screwed. It's not going to stop the rest of us from shopping there.
  8. Someone is going to have problems with every retailer out there. Your situation is unfortunate but it doesn't mean that no one should buy stuff there. And the fact is that far more people who have problems typically rate than satisfied customers. I have had great experiences with BestBuy.com and I've never rated them.

    rebate warning

Was it a BB rebate or a manufacturer's rebate?
  10. Has anyone seen the Modell's Sporting Goods ad? They are a chain in the northeast/mid-Atlantic area. My son wants to see that one even more than the electronics ads!
  11. I heard on CNN Headline News that they told the sites to take them down at 5pm today.
  12. Yes they are the same company but in theory Old Navy clothes are a lesser quality than Gap.
  13. I don't want to sound ungrateful, and I really do appreciate having the ads available for downloading, but whoever is taking photos of these ads (like Kohls and Linens n Things) needs to figure out how to do so without using the flash. or aim the camera differently to avoid the glare. There is a big blotch on each shot which is almost painful to look at. There, now flame me...
  14. You meant $10, right? Or did you get one for each hand?

    Rebates

Except, how often is a rebate rejected for a bad postmark (when it should have been valid)? Almost never. The vast majority of rejections are being they claim you sent the wrong thing. And in that case, having proof that it was mailed on time is worthless. Plus there's nothing to prove that that was the actual envelope you mailed. You could have set the date back and printed the postage a month later.

    Rebates

Sure, use the copy of the original submission. You DID make a copy, right? If you didn't, I guess you could get the same phone.. you may have to activate and cancel service, however. I was going to say you were out of luck because many times they also want the ESN with the UPC but I checked a form on Wirefly and it does not seem to need that. If you did not make a copy of your T-Mobile submission, let this be a lesson to you to ALWAYS make copies.

    Rebates

Except in those cases if you read the forms carefully you will see that all but one of the forms will accept a copy of the UPC (or in cases of Symantec/McAfee rebates, they take the POP from the box tab).

    Rebates

Except that the majority of rebates are rejected for reasons like the UPC missing, etc. Very few just don't show up or claim to have been postmarked after the appropriate date. And wasting $4 on Certified Mail will do NOTHING if they don't like what was in the envelope. Furthermore, some rebate forms now state that they will not accept Certified Mail.

    Rebates

Did you CALL to find out about your rebate??? If you don't then you have no one to blame but yourself. Rebates are GREAT if you follow up when there are problems. If you don't, then all you get is stories to tell when discussions like this come up. If you screw up your submission, then fine but if you know you did things correctly and your rebate gets rejected, or it just never shows up, you MUST call. And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make copies so you can fax it if there are problems, or know where to call. Also, many of Staples' rebates these days are of the "Easy Rebate" variety that can be submitted online. No mailing, much less chance for rejection.

    Rebates

That does not sound right. If the item is advertised as having two rebates, then both of them are valid. Now, what CC *does* do is have multiple items on a rebate (generally their own), and then they won't let you do more than one of that particular rebate. So for example, they will advertise a router and wireless adapter with a manufacturer and Circuit City rebate. The manufacturer's rebate will have a limit of 3 of each item, but the Circuit City rebate will be limit one of any item. And they do not bother telling you in the ad (or on the shelf) that you can't get more than one of their rebate. It is bordering of fraudulent, but they do not care. When this will really hurt is if they have their big toy rebates this year where they put a dozen or more items on the same form and then limit you to a single one. It used to be you could buy one of each item.
  21. Yeah, and no one seems to have had those FAR lately, and I really need one for CF and memory stick. I figure I will pick up the stuff I want this week, then go back after 9am on BF and return/rebuy. OM is always a zoo (as I recall last year they had 2 registers open and the longest lines of any stores I went to), and the never have enough stock.
  22. No, Sears was bought out by KMart. And the OP isn't really talking about PM'ing, they are talking about doing a return/rebuy. I was told in a different discussion that some KMarts will not allow you to re-purchase an item that you are returning. YMMV, but it may be more than that if it's a BF blockbuster.

    freebies

Last year I went to Sears with my wife and 2 kids and we each got a gift card. It was worth waking up for. Fortunately, I had seen the sign earlier in the week and knew where to wait. The people who waited at the mall entrance did not get cards.
  24. Well, that is just common sense to make copies, if for no other reason than so you know who to call if there are problems. However, the fact is that actually losing a submission is far rarer than just rejecting it for some bogus reason. BTW I just scan all my rebates and keep them online.
  25. That's unusual, but what Circuit City HAS been doing is putting multiple items on the same form and then limiting you to one item, period. This is a fairly recent change, so if they have the same sort of deals on toys that they have had in the past, it will cut down dramatically on the deals that can be gotten. And making it worse, they do not even tell you this on the shelf tag. You need to check the rebate form once you've gotten it. It will just show one item on the form. Sadly, CC doesn't care what customers think about this.
