  1. I wouldn't do it. I have never preordered or rainchecked from them but a buddy has 3 times (xbox 360 release, ps3, and halo3). He ended up getting them ALL long after other stores had them in stock and collecting dust.

Basicly you have to get the raincheck/preorder and then stand in line just like bf the night before they are to get them because they OVERSELL!!!!

  2. If your TV is HD ready (720 p or higher) than I would definitely say to get it on XBOX 360. It is more expensive (Xbox 360 games are usually $10 more than Wii) but it will look a LOT better. Playing Wii games (and PS2 for that matter) on my HDTV after playing Xbox 360 is almost painful to me now, it's so blurry in comparison. :yuck:

As for the actual gameplay, I can't help you there since I haven't played either game on either system. But assuming all things are equal in games that appear on multiple game systems (assuming that they are the exact same game... which is likely since companies usually just "port" these titles, meaning they change almost nothing from system to system), always get the Xbox 360 version IMO.

HOWEVER, if blurry graphics don't bother you or the person playing and you would rather save $10, then go with the Wii version.

NOT true. Most Wii games are 480i or 480p, you may not have the component video cables. And as most people will tell you, the difference between 480p and 720p is negligible.

  3. THERE ARE NO RESTOCKING FEES ANYMORE. THEY QUIT DOING THAT. I brought back a bunch of stuff, (didgital camera, digital photo frame, tv, camcorder) and the girl told me that they stopped with the restocking fees. They just sell a whole lot less open items. I have someone inspect returns and tape the box back with "inspected and approved by bestbuy"

Oh yes there are! There was a 10 minute piece on the local news, almost every store in lincoln and omaha are charging restocking fees this year...

  4. Haven't seen an ad.

They aren't doing any sales or ad's because they don't need to. They bring in almost $1 Billion a DAY worldwide. No matter how much they cry their sales are down, they are still well above the profit mark.

It is hurting the workers though, who get stocks/bonuses based on the % increase in sales over the same month last year.

  5. Ok why is everyone so desperate for one of those classic controllers? What are they for? I thought the Wii came with one and does anyone know where to get one? Why do I feel like I am in another panic to get one of these before Christmas?

The classic controllers come in handy if you play gamecube games on the Wii. But if you have a gamecube controller, that will plug into it too.

You can also turn the Wiimote sideways and use it as a regular controller.

  6. Here's the story : Straight from corporate memos.

WM is not trying to cater to wealthier customers.

This was started almost a year ago (nothing to do with BF or Holiday sales)

They stated they will start carrying better name brands, computer components (cpu chips/motherboards etc.), name brand electronics.

Only in about 70% of the markets they are in.

Only to compete with the stores that are already there.

If there is a Best Buy and a Toys R Us in the same strip mall, they will go high end electronics and better toy selection at THAT particular store.

If there is a Sears and a Macys in the same strip mall, they'll go higher-end tools (and a lot more of them) and name brand clothing at THAT particular store.

    etc. etc. etc.

There were corporate memos (more the size of books) passed all the way down the chain stating theses changes between 10-12 months ago.

It is starting, but very slowly.

I say, good! If I can get the same quality tools as craftsman, or the same 50" tv I can get at Best buy but a bit cheaper at WM, I win!

  7. The Wii will have all the same games (except the franchise games, i.e. Halo)

BUT, they won't start coming out regularly until June of next year, I'd go with the 360.

By next christmas you can get a Wii a little cheaper and there will be a lot more games for it.

    PS3

FYI. I talked to the Circuit City Computer Expert, he and a couple of his buddies got analyzied the Cell and found many flaws. He told me to wait a few months and wait for the flaws to get out. Yea, the people who got their PS3 for 2 grand are gonna be freggin pissed when they find out that their PS3 breaks down in 1-12 months.

No I am not anti-playstation, infact I got the Playstation 2 within the month it came out. I am know Xbox fan because Ps3 Blueray is OVERATED. More disc space= less CDS. THATS ALL>

LOL not dogging you, but Circuit City does NOT have "computer experts". They get all their knowledge from the same book the people have when you call tech support or a help desk.

If they had the technical knowledge to "analyze" the cell processor, they would be making around $300k a year, not $8/hour at circuit city.

The PS3 will have flaws, as does any new system, but I haven't heard about any major ones yet.

Thank you though, that's the best laugh I've had in a week :) CC experts.....

  9. Wal Mart Black Friday add was a joke. There items where junk no quailty. Targetbt far had real good products and great prices. They matched prices. Wal Mart sells all that Over seas junk. A lot of there boxes of stock are from china.

I don't know where you've been, but 90% of the stock from EVERY store is from china. At least WM has Sam's choice brand stuff, made in the USA!

  10. There were big pink signs haning on every checkout that said "We pricematch!"

    Nothing missing from the store.

MIL said it is up to the store manager, our store only PM's stores up to 45 miles away and we're lucky they do that because there is NO local competition.

  11. I don't think I'll be doing it again unless I can be #1 in line, there was actually a group of people ahead of me who had twenty chairs that they filled at around 3:30 in the morning.

If I got there a day early and there were 20 empty chairs in front of me, they'd be in the middle of the parking lot in a second.

  12. I got one (using to surf the net right now!), but I was lucky. These things were gone quick, but I found one laying on the floor in the computer department with noone standing beside it. I watched and circled the area for a a couple of minutes...noone got it or showed interest in it...several people in the area walked away. I saw someone else approach the area from the main floor and noticed their eyes went directly to the monitor as they started making their way to it. I casually walked up to it and stood beside it. They went elsewhere and paid no more attention to it. A minute or two went by...noone showed interest to it so I picked it up and looked at it to make sure it wasn't damaged or missing from the box...wondering if anyone would say anything to me. Noone said anything...so I then walked away with it.

I hope I didn't get someone's monitor, but if I did....I apologize. A word of advice, don't leave it sitting so long by its lonesome!

You are too nice! :) I apply the same rule I use when food is on the floor, 5 seconds and It's mine! :yup:

  13. I JUST got home and they still had a LOT of every single thing except the computers and only 2 of the 998 plasma.

I'm assuming nothing was very popular?

I mean literally over half a palette of everything in the ad.

  14. The X1600 is only slightly better (100mhz on the core clock), they can both be used in dual mode (If you get 2 and your computer supports it, Crossfire and SLI).

However, in tech circles, EVGA is THE best brand of video card by far, so it's a coin flip. Either will work great for any program out there.

The X1600 has rebates, but they are both great prices, you won't see lower for at least 6 months.

There is nothing wrong with buying computer parts at a retail store, if they have the best prices, go for it, they are the same exact cards you'll get anywhere online, and actually, if you're not careful you may end up with an OEM card from newegg or tigerdirect, (no cables/manual/box).
