  1. Apple iBook from hubby. Got to open it early because the UPS man showed up on Tuesday and I was the one at home. I can't believe he finally caved and bought me a non Windows machine!!!
  2. that is how is works in this house too, whenever I get mine upgraded they get the older parts for their computers. It goes by seniority here (well except for me, LOL......I get the newer stuff before hubby because I live on the puter).
  3. I don't shop after the day after Christmas at all. I can honestly say I've had enough by the time Christmas comes. And besides, who really has any money left after they open the gas bill!
  4. My 4 and 7 year olds share a computer and have for the last 3 years. My 13 year old has her own. My husband has his own (heaven forbid if we had to share). I have my own desktop and now a laptop that I refuse to share. We are really into computers in this house. All of the desktops were pieced together with parts from Newegg. We don't buy anything "prebuilt", its much cheaper to build your own and actually very simple. My 4 year old son can surf the internet and play games rated for much older children now. Its definately a different generation of kids.

    Kudo's to Amazon

Count me as an Amazon fan this year also! Hubby ordered my Xmas present on Friday and I got it Tuesday (am typing on it right now.......my first mac and its the "Apple" of my eye). I ordered a nice bag for it and a keyboard cover and they arrived Wednesday. I also ordered memory from Newegg.com on Monday and got it Wednesday. I am amazed at the quickness in delivery this year, atleast to my area.
  7. No more shopping here! I am completely finished, not too mention broke..............and so excited I just found out my husband ordered me an ibook (LOL, because it was only $799 after instant savings and $100 Amazon rebate).... Merry Christmas to All!!!!!!
  8. My young ones prefer the wrapping paper and boxes. Whatever is inside quickly gets tossed to the side and they make houses from the boxes. They are 4 and 7.
  9. Rebates are such a scam. I don't know how many I've either forgotten to send away or just haven't received. I am no longer buying things with rebates. I am tired of giving companies an interest free loan with a 50/50 chance of getting it paid back whenever they feel like it. I can almost understand the manufacturers rebates because they deal with so many retail outlets but a Circuit City or Best Buy rebate???? Seems to me if they are willing to give the rebate..........wouldn't it make more sense to actually offer a discount instead and not bother with the rebate scheme? I know it has to do with percentages, they know some people will forget and others will fill out the info incorrectly but it still seems like a scam to me. Sorry so long winded, just my two cents.
  10. As a former letter carrier (thats what the "mailman is really called in these pc times) married to a current letter carrier, tips are nice.........candy, gift certificates, small things. Just make sure it gets to your regular carrier and not a fill in person, sometimes the fill ins don't give it to the regular. You are always welcome to call the postal station that your mail is delivered from and request the name of your carrier. If your carrier does a good job, let someone know................believe me the post office isn't really good at letting these guys and gals know that they are appreciated. If your home when your letter carrier comes around..........a nice hot cup of coffee or a soft drink is a wonderful treat, they will appreciate it greatly.
  11. Sounds like alot of fighting will be going on again. I do not want an Xbox but find it curious the way people will behave in order to get one.
  12. I want an Apple iBook. Not a chance for Christmas as I normally don't get anything. We just buy for the kids here. Hubby says I won't like a Mac because he is a confirmed Windows addict but I beg to differ................maybe tax time.
  13. I would see if the manufacturer would replace it. We bought a Fuji camera several years ago that suffered the same fate when it fell off the mantel and onto a stone hearth. Fuji didn't even ask what happened, they just fixed it and returned it to us. When I went shopping for a much more expensive camera a few years later, I chose Fuji without even considering other cameras. They were the best!
  14. My husband delivers the mail for USPS. He won't leave a package in a questionable situation. He thinks its better to leave a note to pick up the package at the post office or the customer can ask to have the package brought out the following day............better safe than sorry.
  15. Best deal I saw was the 12 inch ibook for $839.................but since I'm about $300 short, no deal....LOL Maybe at tax time they will have another "sale".
  16. No Gateways here anymore either!

    aol question

My mom has AOL and she actually likes it. She still is on dial up even though she can get dsl for less money. It takes forever to just get logged on and then its miserable trying to get to the web from her start up page.............Don't install it!! After saying goodbye to AOL over 4 years ago and going to cable I just can't imagine putting that crap on my computer again...............but the disks do make fine christmas ornaments.
  18. My experience at Walmart this morning was quite pleasant also. I didn't care to try to get the computers though......you do get what you pay for. Our Walmart is a 24 hour superWalmart and the doors were open all night. I arrived at about 4:30 am and it wasn't too busy yet. People came in and found the pallets with the items they wanted and at 5am, the employees cut the paper away and everyone grabbed whatever they wanted. I did not hear any screaming or fighting while in the store. There were several pallets of the care bears and the cabbage patch dollies to choose from. They even had 3 of the big tv's still left on the floor when I left around 5:30am. Overall the BF experience here was great.
  19. Got my paper this morning in Fort Wayne Indiana. The ads appear to be exactly as GottaDeal has reported them! Good job!
  20. Sorry for that awful luck in Ohio. Doorbusters are here in Fort Wayne Indiana.
  21. As a current Windows user I can download enough spyware, crapware for free! No need to have AOL. I think I will just skip these "deals". Verizon has FIOS going online here at the end of December, that should be an interesting time for Comcast...........I can't wait.
  22. Sure wish those cute little ibooks would go on sale at true BF type prices........I bet alot more people would switch from their pcs.............I know I would...
  23. LOL, i am just amazed all the Fort Wayne stores have the same prices the way things are going!
  24. Link please! Why the AOL crap though............I would just like to see an honest deal, I've been a cable broadband user for 4 years now and just the thought of returning to AOL gives me the creeps!!!
