    Guns?

Lol waiting periods would kind of defeat the purpose of black friday...but not the best image for our country seeing people line up for guns, race into the store and come out a few minutes later looking like rambo.
  2. Depends on what you are looking for. Electronics is pretty much a done deal except for circuit city, earlier than in any year I can remember.
  3. I would think so unless we get some indication that the compusa black friday rebate is a one time thing (you can usually tell, all the syntax rebates at various stores have the same wording). Of course the other stores could jack up the price somewhat to account for a larger rebate, but I doubt it.
  4. I could but this forum blocks most of those other sites names and urls. Just type something like "hot deals forum" in google.
  5. Syntax makes quality affordable lcds, but the prices at compusa are not very good. If you have a microcenter you can get the 37 inch syntax for 1199 or possibly 1099 if you sign up for a particular credit card. Check the other major hot deals forum for decent prices.
  6. I haven't seen it for that price. I meant that compusa is going to be offering 300 dollar mail in rebates on black friday, and if the past is any indication, while each syntax rebate is store specific, many stores will rotate the same rebate amount in the following weeks. And you can get the syntax shipped for 1050 at some places right now.

    LCD Monitor

Not even close, Compusa's prices are not good at all on lcds even with the rebates. You can get their syntax olevia's right now for less without any rebates online. Not that best buy has anything good to offer in the 32 inch range but at least the smaller westinghouse is a good deal.
  8. LOL, that model only has one review at Amazon. From all accounts this tv is the same as the other Toshiba 51 inch models except missing a few features the others have, though it still has plenty of inputs, HDMI, and the same picture quality which is most important. But these toshibas have gotten fairly positive evaluations overall. Projections are prone to some problems, but this model not anymore so than others.
  9. I believe you can get another 10 percent off a purchase if you sign up for the target red card (not a credit card) or the target visa.
  10. It depends on the store. Some ads like best buy clearly mark the first page only as items that will not be available online for those prices, but most other items are. At least for the stores that have good web presences, I wouldn't put Walmart in this category but they actually have items online unlike some stores.
  11. Your best chance would be to monitor the best buy website starting as early as that wednesday in the hopes to see the price change.
  12. Most likely if the past indicates, except the items on the first page of the scan as it says....hopefully they will show up online for those prices before they run out.
  13. Eastern conn....they would have it on their website if they had had it in stores that long.
  14. Thank you for confirming that compusa's prices blow! The 32 inch lcd deals are weak except for the protron at sears, too bad. Our only hope is syntax will rotate the 300 rebate with more stores than just compusa, then we could get the 32 inch online for 750 shipped AR.
  15. I only recall seeing the 27 inch.
  16. I took a look, I'm not sure why so many even go to the stores if you can be in front of your computer most of the time before the sales start, the major players seem to all offer the key items online.
  17. " He said he would rate it better than a toshiba" The new toshibas crt hdtvs that aren't really toshibas but orions, yes, the models before that that were discontinued were some of the best on the market. In any case, the samsungs aren't that great, so that's much of an endorsement.
  18. "Am I the only one who thinks that 30" widescreen HDTV for $400 is a great deal?" Well, it's Insignia. It's hard to evaluate them because best buy slaps that name on models contructed in many countries by budget manufacturers. Personally I try to stay away from budget brand tvs, but that is a tempting price. Also note that the newer toshiba widescreens are not made by toshiba at all, but actually by a cheaper company Orion who use cheaper parts which is why they have had many more problems than older models and why they are cheaper, toshiba has been dishonest about this. The toshiba projection though does not fall into this category.
  19. What are the chances of these hotter items appearing on their website for the sale price before the stores open, at least those not on the first page of the ad.
  20. Well I wouldn't say EDTV is worthless, I tend to agree with this article: "EDTV, or 480p, doesn't sound like much compared to HDTV. But it is in fact a major step forward in picture quality. On a big screen it looks closer in quality to HDTV than it does regular television. And it is here today in its full glory. Most DVD players on the market output both interlaced and progressive signals, and they are getting better and cheaper by the month. So every DVD on the market can be played in EDTV right now!" If you don't plan on getting tv in hdtv anytime soon (like if you have directv and they won't be upgrading you for free until late next year or 2007), standard tv often looks better on edtv models than hdtv ones. I also don't see much of a difference at all with video games that support hdtv, at least not yet, maybe with xbox360 that will change. And DVDs really look just as good with edtv. The issue should more be how quality the edtv set you are buying is. The Panansonic ones have been very popular and produce a great picture but how these budget models compare is not known, though the few impressions we have of the maxent indicate there is a noticeable difference in quality. As far as lcds, the problem is, like with all smaller widescreen tvs, is a 27 inch will not give you 27 inches of viewing unless you are watching widescreen sources or you stretch regular sources to fit the entire screen. So most of the time you may have only like a 22 inch viewing area. To get close to true 27 inches, you need to look at the 32 inch models which are quite a bit more expensive.

    Mail from Wal*Mart?

I got one today, they have an rca 52 inch projection hdtv for 999 but the toshibas are a better brand for 100 less on black friday with more inputs. Also on the front page is the edtv plasma that will be 999 on black friday, but with no price, same picture though. It's definitely their illyo or whatever it is called brand.
  22. Well I wish I could you tell you it's going to be cheap but if you want to upgrade from a large projection like that, not lose much or any screen size, and upgrade feature and picture quality wise (I assume hdtv or edtv at least), but it will be pricey even if you buy a budget model. I would suggest looking at plasmas but if you want an hdtv without losing much screen size, you are looking at at least 1600 or 1700 though best buy will have a 42 inch plasma for 1500 on black friday, but most brands will run higher. There is the option of the two 1000 dollar 42 inch plasma edtvs at walmart and best buy, but your husband may want true hdtv.
  23. I don't recall many of these stores advertising minimum quantities of anything in a long time. I also can't believe anyone would buy any of these things for above the advertized price.
  24. Best buy offers free shipping for tvs 499 and up. Here is the item right now for 1614: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7123917&type=product&id=1110265592639
