  1. I'll be watching! We host a Christmas in July extravaganza at our house, so I have it on in the kitchen while I'm cooking all day. I can't wait!
  2. I am loving this thread! I think probably the worst gift I received was from my grandmother, who was a really sweet lady but DGrandpa didn't give her any money (he was loaded...weird setup) so she had to give us stuff she already had. So one year my cousin and I got these jumpsuit things that were at least 10 years old with tags still on them, in women's sizes. We figured she bought them for herself and never got to wear them, so she gifted us. We loved her anyway :) Oh, and one year I got an Arkansas Razorback hog head hat from a cousin. We don't live by Arkansas and I'm not a football or basketball fan, or whatever. Yeah, I still have that and am just waiting for a Dirty Santa swap to happen to get rid of it.
  3. My mom decided last Saturday that she wanted a Wii and a Wii Fit. She thought we'd just go to Best Buy and get it. After I stopped laughing I called them and found out they were actually going to have both the next morning, so I made her drag herself out of bed and go stand in 45mph winds for an hour and a half at 5:30am the next day (and of course I went, too!). We ended up getting them both, and now she knows better than to just decide she wants some hot ticket item 2 weeks before Christmas!
  4. Thanks couponmom, we have that one. Actually, that one came in my last order from Gymboree, and us being new at this whole kid thing, didn't realize it was for a different store until I tried to use it online at Gymboree.com and it was rejected. I figured they were the same store or that Crazy 8 was just a different "line" that Gymbo sold.
  5. Y'know, I don't know about anybody else, but the fact that the shoppers became "irate" when the store closed because of this man's death says a LOT to me. I really hope the police can identify the people who did this.
  6. Now I'm wondering whether this will be the next state to have one of those laws saying that you can't sell stuff at below cost. I agree that Walmart eggs this on somewhat, and they have to love the usual publicity (not this, of course) about the rush and the craziness. However, the people who trampled this guy need to be prosecuted somehow. I don't know if there'll be enough detail on the tapes to ID everyone, but even if they can't be gotten with manslaughter, at the very least there should be a disorderly conduct charge or something.
  7. I'm also looking for one of these codes! Our little foster guy thanks you! :)
  8. Hit Meijer at 3:30, got everything on my list there (digital photo frames, movies, ended up with a couple of impulse buys...doggie rawhides, bog2 and a plug-in coffee mug for my mom since she's always complaining about hers in the car). Headed to Joanns, laughed at the people at OD next door, bought an iron, some fleece, a bunch of rulers and scissors. Home again home again :) This is the earliest I've ever been done BF shopping; and the least I've bought which is kind of disappointing. I was hoping to get our foster kid some clothes at Gymboree but I don't have a coupon that will work. I just remembered I need to pick up another spotlight for the front of the house, so I guess we're headed to Lowes. And DH has decided we need to go to TSC; maybe I'll pick up some birdseed.
  9. Meijer, Joann Fabrics, Sams Club (for free breakfast LOL) That's it. This is the most dismal BF for me yet. I'm thinking about going to the mall just for old times' sake and some people watching.
  10. Missing Macys, Circuit City, Toys R Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, Radio Shack, Ace, Sears and Walgreens. Wasn't planning on hitting any of these stores, tho. What irks me about it is that our newspaper charges double the normal price for today's paper because of all the ads!
  11. I got everything on my list this morning at Meijers and was back home by 6am since the prices were loaded by 5:30 at my store. Headed back there in the morning for the 7" digital frame, wondering where they will be in the store. I'll probably show up around 2 or 3. And for some reason I was thinking the indoor furniture is on sale Friday, but it's actually Saturday, so I guess I'll be going back then!
  12. I don't know if you've already gotten this set since KMart had the PN42A400 today, but Crutchfield is selling it for the same price as everyone else (699) with free shipping. We ordered it last night and didn't have to pay sales tax, either. We decided to go with the cheaper set since it's for my inlaws who don't watch a lot of tv and just needed a replacement set in a bedroom.
  13. Well, crud. I had what I thought was a 20% off coupon, and it turned out to be for crazy8.com. I don't suppose somebody else has a coupon code I could use? Please? :)
  14. I got their BF ad in the mail today. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll post the list. I didn't see anything to get really excited over, but they do have 5 for $5 Simplicity, 3.99 vogue, .99 butterick and mccalls patterns

    Menards

I wonder if they'll have deodorant this year? I remember a few years ago walking through the store the week before BF and wondering why in the world they had a whole display of mens deodorant. And then I saw in the ad. LOL they will get the weirdest stuff for BF!
  16. Eh, we'll probably always go out for BF, but we are buying less this year. I think the stores know that there are enough people that are going to shop regardless, and so they're trying less and less hard. Plus, as BF becomes more popular they realize they don't need to have those outstanding deals of years past. The competition nowadays is moreso between shoppers (why we have people getting in line on Wednesday) than it is between stores. I tend to do BF for the people-watching and entertainment more than anything. I don't usually buy a lot of gifts that day, and tend just to get stuff for myself that I've been wanting. This year there's not that much that I really want, so it'll be stuff like the Excedrin BOGO at Meijers, maybe a digital frame, wrapping paper, just generic stuff.
  17. I'll put them up just as soon as DH finishes vacuuming the yard of all the leaves. I have a big sign being delivered on BF, tho, so I'm hoping the leaves are gone by then! Maybe he'll do it this weekend and I'll do the outside decorating next week.
  18. Meijer, then Joanns. If DH feels like wading through Menards or Lowes we might do that. Then on to Sams for breakfast and probably Staples after that. If we still want to be out we'll hit Gymboree and the Childrens Place or Toys R Us. I'm considering doing my Gymo'ing online, tho, which will keep us out of the mall (always a Good Thing).
  19. Real whipping cream. Only. Ever. One time my Mom asked DH if he wanted Cool Whip on his pecan pie and he accused her of being a Communist...he only likes the real stuff, and after having it once I was hooked!
  20. Meijer wins again. I'll be there both Thursday and Friday!
  21. Okay, can somebody tell me where to find this coupon in the magazine? I have both October and November issues and have looked all thru it for this thing. Thanks!

    Meijers

Pins and needles! This is now the #1 ad on my list, I'm so hoping it's as good as years past (or even better!).

    Meijers

Also remember, Meijers is REALLY good about releasing their own ad on their website early, too. I love that about them, they really seem like they get into the BF spirit! :) This is the one store that I will consider camping out at. I do 98% of my household shopping at Meijer, I feel like I've earned the BF discounts! LOL
  24. Okay, we want to get a tv for my in-laws this year for Christmas. I was hoping to avoid buying one on BF, as I refuse to go to BB or CC that day. Sam's Club would be alright, and Meijers would be ok. I think we want to get them a 42" plasma, as their "tv room" is pretty dark, and not that big, but my MIL has bad eyesight and FIL would just like to have a big tv. Their last one in this room was a 36". My question is, is one brand better than another at this size? I think it was last year that everyone was raving over the Samsungs and saying that they were the best. Is that still true? I don't really care what we spend (WITHIN REASON), so if it's a matter of a crummy brand costing 500 or a good one being 1000, we'd go with the 1000.

    Menards

We were at Menards last night and they had a ton of mens sweatshirts. DH wouldn't let me walk down the aisle where they usually stockpile their stuff (they were getting ready to close and he still had to work on something when we got home) but I could definitely see shirts!
