Just read my ::sniff:: last ::sniff, sniff:: Black Friday email alert! This is just AWFUL!!! It's over already?!? It slipped by so fast! Oh well! Thanks for another fun year!! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on the boards and everyone who posted the deals they found. Can't wait to do it all again next year!! (yeah yeah yeah, I know gottadeal is open all year.....but it just doesn't have that 'air of anticipation' that the Black Friday season brings!)

Not sure which tablet that is, but if it helps, Barnes and Noble has been selling their Nook color refurbished all weekend for $119. It just went up to $129 today, but that is still a good deal. And if you add a rootmynookcolor.com SD card you can turn that nook into a tablet that does internet, netflix movies etc. etc. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOOK-Color-Barnes-Noble-Wi-Fi-eReader-/300625719205

I ordered 2 of these Angry Birds game via the internet for $17.99 based on what I was reading on this board about how hard it is to find these games. Then I went to Meijer's (Allen Park, MI) for some other stuff and found a HUGE display of them.....for $14.99 no less! (And they will be on sale next week for $7.99!) If you have a Meijer's near you.....go to Meijers.

The Fisher price ball popper is a favorite with the toddlers at the hospital where I work. They have a new one out now, an elephant. The playschool busy gears is also a popular toy. Another "popular" item is the old homemedics light therapy box. The LT 500 comes with pre-installed music and is the preferred choice. The LT300 has no pre-installed music but is much easier to find. There is a fellow on EBAY in Canada who sells new ones regularly. These are great for calming the child. It's also supposed to stimulate creativity etc. We love them at the hospital. Even the babies in the NICU love them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HoMedics-LT-300-Color-Cube-Light-Therapy-Soothing-Mood-/120749158532?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1d35f084 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Homedics-Color-Cube-Therapy-/290634801065?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item43ab2f1fa9 There is a new company that has taken over these light boxes and sells them more as a party item. What is nice is that you can plug your MP3 player into it and play your own music. The down side is, watch the volume on those little ears!! I don't see any on ebay at the moment but keep your eyes open. http://www.amazon.com/Princess-International-PI-147-Light-Speaker/dp/B000TXO6Q2

From my 81 year old mother's mouth to your ears......"BON BONS". I made the mistake of getting her some choclate truffles from the most decedent truffle place you have ever been to for Easter this year. And my mother has made it quite clear....."I want my bon-bons for Christmas." (Dad is thrilled to oblige, mom is never that explicit about what she wants for Christmas.) www.chocolategarden.com

Well, I don't have a kid but I have two 81 year old parents that keep me on my toes. My dad, (in all seriousness, due to his stroke last year) told me over the weekend that he is tired of having so much trouble chewing. He says his dentures are 'worn flat in the back and dull up front' and he wants me to find a place where he can "get his teeth sharpened". I told him "Forget it Dad, you'll bite your tongue off". Never fear ...I am calling around to see about getting him a new pair of dentures for Christmas. Not going to let the poor guy starve. (But I'll be honest...he doesn't seem to have any trouble eating the cookies and goodies we've started making with these "worn and dull dentures.")

Hmm I dunno about a lion....but Heifer International makes it easy to gift a llama! Actually, your request for a lion reminds me of the movie "Second hand lions"........I think you need to have a corn field before you can get yourself a lion. Otherwise...where would you put the lion?

Thank God! I thought I was the only child who was having trouble raising my parents! There should be a manual or something there! Or better yet....a reality TV show......instead of Super Nanny or Nanny 911......how about GRANNY 911! I like the idea of renting a storage unit...might be the only way...

Every cat/kitten is different. Some ignore the whole thing. Many do like to sleep under the tree. I would tie the tree to the wall though...never know when you need that extra protection! I have had 2s cat that like to bat at the bulbs/ornaments. I just made sure there were plastic ones at the bottom of the tree. I had one that wanted to use the fresh tree as a scratching post. (That's when I learned to tie the tree off. Then I bought an artifical tree the next year. ) Never had one that chewed the lights. But I have had several over the years that like to attack the ribbons on the gifts. So no ribbon on those years. My kitten last year was fascinated with my wrapping everything. Had to help. I am hoping that this year she has outgrown that fascination. Unfortuantely, you may not know what your kitten will be like until you put the tree up. If you haven't had kitty fixed yet, you may want to co-incide that with the putting up of your tree. Kitty may not feel like playing much for a day or two after his/her 'operation.' After that kitty may not care about the tree except to sleep under.

I cannot STRESS the importance of wrapping those gifts early!!! Usually I just wrap everything starting about now and stick it out in front of the fireplace and tell my 81 year old parents to "Keep out! or there's nothing for Christmas!" This year, I admit I am a few weeks late in wrapping. Wouldn't you know it, my mom 'found' the two boxes with all those wonderful Dillard's Christmas sweaters and clothing I got on sale for her last January! (Yeah right mom! You just 'found' them in my bedroom and ignored the post it notes on them saying they were mine.) Mom's excuse this year?!?! "I thought you gave them to me last year and I just forgot about them.....I am 81 old years old now...I forget things you know." (Sharpest darn 81 year old I ever met! 'Forgot' about them my......."

SUITCASE worked for me too. Thanks for the great find! I can hardly wait for Christmas 2011 now! -
Hmmmm well I think for my 80 year old Dad it was just the fact I finally let him at his presents!!! His favorite was all the Bugs Bunny clothing I managed to find for him throughout the year. (Would you believe.....after everything is open, and I am cleaning up boxes and ribbons and he is clipping tags off of his new clothes (because he is ready to wash them and wear them NOW!) he is already saying/asking...."It's almost time for my birthday isn't it?!?!" For my 80 year old mom....well she says she "just loves everything...can't pick a favorite" but the real truth of it is -- she loved all the dark chocolate that she received. (I don't know why I bother getting anything else!) Mom got into it early and it was all gone by Christmas. On Christmas morning she was eyeballing Dad's fudge covered ritz crackers and his Lindt's chocolates. The cats - the blind Siamese is already "plucking" his new bird toys and the other 2 Siamese are happily playing with the homemade catnip toys "granny" made for them. I have not yet heard from the kids I bought for. Hope everyone out there was pleased with what they were given!

Thank you Bugsette but the real KUDOs go to Mysschevous and her/his family for adopting 3 local families this Christmas. S/he has a very compassionate heart to see their need (and their need beyond the obvious). A lot of folks in my hospital, (myself included), just got word last week that our hours have been cut from full to part time or worse yet, lost their job entirely as of Dec. 31st. And it is too late now to apply for any help to get some of these folks through the holiday. We sing in the carol that "...Christ was born on Christmas Day.... Oh tidings of comfort and joy!" It is a joyful time! It is a lot of fun being family, and opening gifts and eating all those wonderful goodies etc. etc. And there is nothing wrong with enjoying the rewards of honest labor! (Shop away!) But there is also a quiet joy that comes from sharing a gift of food/clothes which brings comfort to another. Christmas Blessings everyone!

Hmmmm probably $500 - 600 total. (And that would be generous) I shop all year so my outlay this time of year is low. (But those Daily Deals do add up fast! And all those boxes of fudge covered ritz crackers my Dad will soon be unwrapping. LOL!) And I have already spend $90 on next years Christmas Gifts. (2 holiday sweaters (clearance) from Kohl's, 2 pairs of P.J's from Disney Store (b1g1), a NWT Bugs Bunny Jean Jacket & a NWT cat sweater both found on Ebay.) Today I was a "big" spender I spent $67.87 on groceries for a sick (cancer), uninsured neighbor. Just a gentle reminder, as tough as things are right now, if I can find $690 to spend on Christmas gifts for family and friends, I can find a tithe (10%) to put food on the table for someone else. Wishing you all a very blessed, joy-filled Christmas! (Only thing left for me to do now is keep the old people out of NEXT YEAR's presents!)

Monster High Dolls at Amazon with free super saver shipping!
Reinholt1 replied to Reinholt1's topic in Online Hot Deals
You are lucky. Around here all I have seen are the 2 doll set and I am not even seeing those so much any more. I have not seen the single dolls and I have been looking since October. Plenty of the accessaries and plush figures around though. For those who are interested, I have been following zoolerts and this two dolls NEVER showed up. (I even had the zoolerts page on when I bumped into them!) I found them when I went to Amazon to buy a book. Holt Hyde came up on the check out screen under the "other items you might be interested in". When I explored further Ghoulia came up too. (I bought two for my friend's daughters. I just got an email saying they shipped this morning.) Anyway..lesson for those hunting for Monster High or dancing Mickey or teacup piggies.....don't rely 100% on zoolerts! (Maybe 75% ) Some of these hot toys are getting past their software! -
Somebody posted the code GIVEJOY the other day. (Sorry, I don't know who) for $10 off $10 online. I used it last night (12/2) on a purchase. It worked. Dunno what the expiration is. But for those that did not get the real time coupon in the mail.....
