  1. I did a side-by-side comparison of the two HP cameras being offered. The one camera that is going to be $149 is already that price anyway, and it seems to be the slightly better camera. The one that is being offered for $99 is a good deal because it is normally $150, but you can only use a USB port for it, it won't hook up to a docking station like the other one will. Also, the cheaper camera is slightly fewer megapixels than the other, and the zoom isn't as good. Hope this helps. I am buying one of these for my 13 year old for Christmas, I still haven't figured out which one yet!

    YMCA Drop and shop

If there is a YMCA near you, check if they offer this. I know the YMCA near me is charging $20 to watch your kids from 6 am until noon. Most people start shopping way before that, but if you have a family member willing to help out, they could drop off your child for you at 6 am and you can pick them up after you are done shopping.
  3. I'm driving my family nuts, talking so much about the items I hope to get! I asked two of my sisters to PLEASE try and get at least the morning off of work so they can help me. I am so excited about this, and it baffles me that everyone else is griping about Christmas and the cold weather!
  4. I think for Walmart, you have to be pretty darn early. I was just thinking about what time I should get up this year, and I am thinking 2 am. If I get to the store and no one is there yet, I will wait in my car and read or something. But I think people will be there!
  5. My family thinks I am nuts. Especially my mom. She just can't understand why I put myself through this. I tell her I save a lot of money and it is fun. Who cares if I lose some sleep and freeze my butt off waiting outside the stores for an hour or so? And the excitement is so addictive! Ever since I found out about this site a few days ago on CNN.com, I have felt so Christmas-y!
  6. That happened to me one year at Toys R Us. It's the only year I was ever right at the front door and knew what was going on. I know one year I was back about a fourth of the way through line at WalMart and there was some huge commotion at the front doors as they opened, and word filtered back that some people tried rushing the doors. I believe they were stopped, though. Makes me mad.
  7. Last year I wanted to put some stuff on layaway before BF. I asked the lady if they would adjust the prices if they went on sale BF, and she said no. I asked to speak to a manager and he came out and explained that the stuff that goes on sale BF is never in the store before Thanksgiving week and is never ever put out before BF, so nothing I put on layaway will be on sale. He said that is how it is always done. Today I went to Walmart and looked for the stuff from the BF ad, and I didn't see any of it, so he must be right.
  8. I spend quite a bit on my kids at Christmas. However, I start shopping the day after Christmas the year before, and I keep shopping all year long. I hit all the clearance and really good sales. So here it is two months before Christmas, most of my gifts are bought and wrapped, I have a list telling me who got what, how much it cost, and what batteries it needs. Of course, I will keep shopping right up until Christmas, but it is nice to know that I at least have most of it done, and that I got really good prices on most of the stuff.
  9. One year I was first in line at Toys R Us. It was totally by accident, I thought the store opened earlier than it actually did! The news came and interviewed me, which I thought was really cool. The line grew longer and longer. Five minutes before the doors opened, some guy came right up to the front of the line and hung out smoking. The other women in line asked him repeatedly if he was going to try and cut out all the other people in line. He insisted he was not, he was just having a smoke. Well, the second the doors opened, he pushed right through us and ran in the store! I thought those other women were going to murder him! I know I was peeved, just because he cheated out a hundred other people who followed the rules and waited for two hours. If everyone acted like him, every store would be a dangerous riot. Of course, no one did anything about it, but he was darn lucky that we at least had more manners and self-control than he did!
  10. I know just what you mean! I can't stand the people who are so intent on getting the deal that they push and shove and start fights over items. I look for the deals I want, but if they are gone, oh well. Disappointing, but not worth killing someone for!
  11. I love to shop BF. My entire family doesn't undestand why I get up at the crack of dawn, fight crowds, stand in line for hours, just to get great deals. I am a single mom to 3 kids, and can get my kids more gifts if I shop BF. A couple of years ago I was the first person in line at Toys R Us. The news crew came and interviewed me, it was really cool! They asked why I thought people did this every year, and I told them the same thing - I can give my kids a better Christmas.
