  1. If I go anywhere next year, it'll be back to BB. But, I do plan on doing some recon beforehand. The only thing that would get me to go somewhere else would be if they started matching BB policy of few or no MIR. I don't anough enough money or time to wait around 6 months for a thousand bucks in $50 checks to trickle in.
  2. This year was kind of an intersection of circumstances for me.... It's the Ex's year with the kids and my parents were going about 3 hours away to their weekend house for Thanksgiving this year. Plus, they weren't doing a family meal, they were going to the Country Club for dinner and then leaving for a 2 week cruise. My truck gets abot 3 miles to the gallon and I didn't want to do my BF shopping at Texaco. My brother was working for the holiday so it was going to be just me. Plus, my poor old laptop is just barely hanging on with about 500meg of drive space left and my living room TV bit the dust last week. I had alot of fun, witnessed a drunk driving accident (SUV flew off the bridge onto the highway embankment below, no joke) and pulled my drunk and emotionally unstable friend out of the bar next tot he store a couple of times. I have some good war stories for the office on Monday. The only thing I regret is letting my brother get the 42" LCD instead of the 42" plasma but I was almost delirious by the time he asked my advice. I'm taking a tent, a heater and a cot next year.
  3. Well, it was kinda chilly, even here in North Texas! :)
  4. Well, I only spent about 3 minutes in the store before going the the temporary PSA/Install/TV Holding area so i don't know how LP was checking things out front. But, back in my area, we had our two PSA's in and out and two loaders for people buying LCD's. I took around 2 hours for my group to get checked out and gone. During that time, ther were many times the PSA's were out in the store and the loaders were distracted. The overhead doors were wide open the whole time and I was parked right next to it. It would have been too easy to just walk out with a few of the laptops that were sitting around. This is not my style (I was almost gone when I realized I didn't pay for my lappy and went back and paid for it) so I would never think of doing that. But, that leads me to my question.... How much stock fo you think made it out the door without getting paid for?
  5. Great Deal For You!!!! Might have been a local only product, not sure. Mine shows 8120366 W3213HD 479.99 32" WESTINGHOUSE LCD HDTV
  6. Um......No. Mine Didn't, unless I'm blind. Would you mind posting a model number and sku from you receipt?
  7. My question is, if I'm not under contract, can I re-up and get this phone. I am under a now defunct calling plan that I want to keep but I'm now on a very old and abused Nokia (after my T720 took a dive) and new a newer set. Anyone know if it's possible to just resign for another 2 years and get this phone?
  8. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't have the store policy in front of me, but won't your time be up by BF for a price adjustment? I thought DCs only had 14 days rather than 30. You could return and rebuy but you run the risk of 15% restock. Like I said, I'm not sure, I'd read the policy real close though.
  9. Along this same line... I am eyeing a Casio camera in the Sears ad but I will be at BB during the blitz. I want to pick it up at BB while I'm there but the Sears ad doesn't specify the manufacturers model number in the ad. The ad does show a pic though. I guess they could just call if they want to. Anyway, what is the likelyhood that I would be able to get them to PM that morning, maybe through the PSA checkout? Also, I know it's bad form....but couldn't I buy the camera 1st, then pull out the ad to have 110% back? It works out to about $15 extra to me. BTW, Sears ad says $169 BB website today said $315. It's a good deal either way, I just don't want to have to fight my way back into the store later that day.
  10. Lake Worth and W'ford are my neck of the woods (I'm in Westpoint, grew-up in Willow Park) and I really wanted to get to one of those stores. I figured the further away from the massive residential areas, the better for me. But, alas, Mansfield was the closest for me with PSA plus that's my co-shoppers area. If I remember correctly, Grapevine has it too. Just an FYI.
  11. Fry's is a miserable place in my opinion. I'll be in Mansfield. I would be in Fort Worth but that was the closest store to me that had the PSA program, see the other post for details. That makes the whole thing worthwile to me. I may be frozen that night but at least I won't be stuck in the store that morning. Good luck and have fun.
  12. Fort Worth, Texas Buddies from work, I am converting alot of people to the ways of Black Friday. 2004 was 1st, missed last year but I've been watching since I was a kid. I come from a long line of shoppers. Best Buy, like everyone else. The $149 desktops last year, I'm getting at least 1 this year. Probably a DVD Frostbite
  13. With last years laptops, they asked if you wanted the free system check or not. This process did at least give the "techs" some lead time in opening the boxes before they got swamped. I declined. When I worked at BB years ago, it was known then that the store got a kickback from the manufacturer to act as Quality Control by checking the systems.
  14. Most retailers, in my limited experience, won't PM their own stores. Alot of PM policies retrict it to local competitors. You might see if the WM store PM policy is on their website like BB or CC.

    Not Happy

I hate to hear that....I work for a no-name company that likes to choose the worst times for this. In fact by buddy came up with a new acronym for our company, "Surplus (Layoff) Before Christmas - And That's That" I won't mention what company.....No you can't twist my arm, I'm not sayin'
  16. Yeah, I remember that in D/FW. They had about 4 or 5 different employees that tried to start different tickets at different places in the line. Those of us at the front quickly let them know that all items needed to be started at the front.
  17. Last year I was first in line, they started and gave each person a different ticket for each item. I only needed one of the blitz items, but others were getting tickets for everything. Just how it went down last year.
  18. Not real sure about this but....won't AOL require a CC# when you sign up? I know that sometimes they will utilize your local telephone company for billing service but that would be too easy to fudge at the time of the sale. Alternatively, you might try to get the cheap "Bring Your Own" AOL service for broadband users. IIRC, the rate is around $15 a month. Since you wouldn't be using the service, who does, it wouldn't matter. I might have missed it in the advert, but I didn't see any minimum service LEVEL commitment. Just an idea, good luck. I would be interested but I don't like these tactics; I thought these kinds of offers went out of fashion about six years ago.
  19. Any details on this camera? I am in the same situation, I have a ton of disposables that need to be developed for my 5yo. I'm not ready for her to start using my digital or k1000.
  20. Question about this, I had asked in another thread but I think it got covered up. Do these layaways have to be out before Christmas or do you get the ful 60 or 90 days?
  21. BB last year wasn't too bad but...I got there about 2, first in line, wrapped in a packing pad I had, thank God, left in the truck. Wasn't too bad, chatted up the cute girl next to me in line, got a good laugh when two guy tried to cut in front. When they asked if they were at the back of the line, they were kinda reminded we weren't waiting to get into Albertson's. Doors open, here we go, I faltered, I actually shopped for a few minutes, then GRIDLOCK. I was in line to pay for at least and hour and a half, missed the the other deals at Sears I wanted. I got reports from the front that WM was a bust, truly a Police State. I can't wait.
  22. Other........ Stragic alliances. Usually one person or group at different stores throughout the city and sometime a runner to collect merchandise, deliver extra money etc. I will probably be going it alone this year, may enlist a friend to help at WM.
  23. Even with some bad press about quality, I think one of the WM computers will be on most peoples radar. Although, I wish BB would try to undercut WM given the lead time. I detest WM's anti-competitive practices but I really need some more computers.
  24. Thanks, I actually figured that out last night in another forum and then forgot what it meant. Funny how much the mind slips the closer I get to the holidays.
  25. I remember a few years back being able to PM the Door Buster TV from WM at BB late that night, well after cut-off time and way out of stock. For some reason, I was also able to get BB to discount the mail-in rebate during the sale. I gave it to my ex father in-law, I still miss that TV. Though, since then the store have increasingly become more restrictive on theor policies. OT: what is TRU, a regional chain or an acronym I don't recognize yet?
