  1. I always have touble with my Mom's husband (married like 5 years -I'm 29 so not really a step dad). Seem's like there's one on everybody's list. Most years he ask's for Amazon GC but I feel like it's always a cop-out. I know he likes them but sometimes I wish I could get him something that was a little more personal. He likes sweets and we have a nice chocolate shop and last year I got him something from there. So some "problem" males with sweettooths may really like some specialty chocolates -not the typical Godiva or Lindt stuff.

Green and Blacks Chocolates are very good! I also like Vosges Chocolates (My favorite is the Barcelona Bar, but they are all yummy!) Does he like Toffee? Enstroms Almond Toffee melts in your mouth! We received a box a few years back and OMG! I could have eaten the entire box. So good!

    These sets are cool.

I just saw that they have Toffee Popcorn!!!

  2. I love my Ipod Shuffle! Soo easy to use and clips on my vest or pocket. Great for working out because it is small, weights next to nothing and doesn't bounce around. 1gb is $49.99 and 2 gb is $69.99

Apple has free shipping on the shuffle and free engraving too! And I love the colors! I have the bright pink 2gb shuffle and I picked up some iLuv ear buds in the same pink color at Marshalls for $5.99. The ipod ear buds were just a little too big for my little ears and the iLuv set came with 3 different sizes.

  3. I think gloves, scarves or hats would be a great idea for the gift. I wonder if you went to the the local colleges and asked to set up like and angel tree sort of thing just for those items or any "personal care" if they would let you. I think it's a great idea. Another try might be a small church or two in your area that might be willing to take donations. Anything you collect is better than nothing!

If you go to a college, remember that they go on Thanksgiving Break next week and then finals are almost right after they get back.

  4. I bought another gift this weekend, I was pretty pleased. It was a must-have for my neice, and I got it marked down from $15.99 to $6.59. As long as dh and I stay home and decorate this weekend like we planned, I should be able to retain the $500 budget I set for BF- and hopefully get myself close to done, at least 75% done.

Hoping and praying, w/ fingers crossed, we'll have another little one for Christmas this year (odd statement huh......:D). Anyhow, my nephew was placed into foster care almost 3 weeks ago, and it's looking good that we'll get a relative placement w/ us by the end of the month. He's only 2.5 months old, so it shouldn't throw my gift budget into a tailspin too much. Though, I will of course have to get him a few santa gifts. It will be worth stretching the budget for.

I hope the relative placement works out for your family and your Nephew. I'm sure having him in your home will help set your mind at ease that he is safe and healthy and with someone who loves him.

  6. I do think its rude for someone to take advantage of your good nature and generosity.

Tell your family member that you'll be serving your left overs for dinner tomorrow since you slaved over the meal in the hot kitchen all day and because of this you do not plan on cooking tomorrow.

  7. I have the same problem with my inlaws. They have come over the last couple of years after they have eaten dinner somewhere else and come eat a second dinner and have dessert at my house. Then they want to take more home. My dh never says no. It really irritates me. I always look forward to my BF turkey sandwich and haven't got to have it the last two years. This year his SIL invited herself to spend Thanksgiving with us. It wouldn't be so bad but it's her, her bf, their 4 kids, and her nephew! Oh yeah, and youngest brother is living with her so he's coming too! They plan on coming Wed. night and leaving Sat. morning. I don't have room for all these people!!! We tried to get out of it, but she didn't take the hint. Talk about rude!! :eyepoppin

    Desperate times call for desperate measures;

Tell your DH that he has to tell them that they are not invited and or they can not stay for 4days and if he doesn't do it you will be cutting him off from any lovin until after the holidays.

Tell the family that you came down with the flu and it just isn't possible for them to stay.

Send them a list of hotels in the area complete with prices and contact information.

    Good luck!

  8. The card says '10, 50, 100 or 500 off any purchase December 1-24, 2008. Discover the value of your Secret Reward card when you make a purchase in stores, catalog or at VictoriasSecret dot com.'

There is no minimum purchase listed, and it states that any unused dollar amount will remain available on card until December 24. Not valid with any other discount or offer, cannot be reloaded, and cannot be used to purchase a gift card.

So to me it sounds like a pretty good deal when using with the scrub coupon. If you shop there, that is. Otherwise you are just spending money that you can't use later.

As for the beauty purchase, i think is basically any of those items you find in the 'beauty' store such as hair, fragrance, shower and bath items. Makeup appears to be in that category as well. Just make sure you try to spend at least 10.00 to get the reward card. There are many items such as- the hair items, shimmer lotion and body butter that are 10.00 each.

Thank you for the info. I don't have any big purchases to make, just a few small ones, so I wanted to make sure I would be able to use the Santa card.

  9. For anyone who experiences stress now and then.;)

Orgins Peace of Mind On-the-Spot Relief

$10.00 can find at many Department stores like Macys and even some Targets. Or order online from www.origins.com and get FREE standard shipping on any order until December 12.

I use this if I get a headache or I'm just having a frustrating day. It's even nice if I'm getting a little stressed about a big test at school.

When the world closes in on you and your head feels a size too small, apply just two dabs of Origins mind-clearing formula on the back of your neck, temples and earlobes. You'll feel a tingling sensation as pressure, tension and tightness begin to melt away.

HOW TO USE: Place three small dabs on fingertips. Take a deep breath to experience Peace of Mind®'s stress relieving aromas. Massage into the back of neck, earlobes, and temples (closer to the hairline than to eyes.)

  10. If we are in a hurry and it is last minute, (DH wants a Banana Split or even Hot Chocolate) then I will pick up Redi Whip. But 80-90 % of the time we do real whipping cream. It is just too good! I also will buy whip cream from Whole Foods. Their bakery department makes it and you can get it where they sell their homemade desserts. Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!!!

My favorite winter treat is Hot Chocolate either made with Belgian style Chocolate from a chocolate shop in town, or with Green and Blacks Organic Cocoa Powder and fresh whip cream!!!

  11. The great thing about this offer - when you spend $10 they will give you the santa rewards card, good for at least $10 off your december purchase. I have been able to do this today (at two different stores)- buy a 10.00 beauty item, use this coupon to get a free scrub, and then get the santa rewards. So its basically like buying 10.00 gift cards to use next month and getting 19.00 in free beauty items, with a chance for your coupon to be up to $500 off! Yessss....

Do you have to spend a certain amount to use the Santa Rewards card? Thanks!
