  1. Well, if you burn in hell, we will be there together. :) My mom always told me the same thing and I have passed that right on down to my children. I have always told them that parents have to pay Santa for their gifts. I thought that would also help explain why some children don't get as big or elaborant gifts as others might. I've always told the kids that there will be a Santa as long as they believe in him. That's how I handle the "is he real" question. I explain that Santa lives beause of the love in the hearts of his believers. It's always worked out great. DS14 knows that I am Santa, but he also knows I never "lied" to him. Same with DS10 ... I hope DD6 doesn't stop believing anytime soon because she is my last and it will be so sad.
  2. I'm so sorry sweetie. I really don't have any advice for things to make as I am no better crocker, however, I am a military wife. This time last year, I was right there in your shoes. DH is scheduled to come home hopefully in March. I have no idea what you and your mother are fighting over, however just remember emotions tend to run really really HIGH right before a deployment. Will this be your first? This was my first and let me assure you it has been a very bumpy ride. Just wanted to let you know I'm here if you ever need to vent. :)
  3. Hi Scott, I'm sure your right. Sorry .. I should have never piped in. :)
  4. I was having a hard time finding any of the ovens on any websites. I did a google search and found this: http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=cs_recall_eb_oven Thought some of you might be intrested. :)
  5. I have returned without a receipt at my wal-mart a few times this year. I think they allow 3 a year and ask for a photo ID, I have my military ID and my drivers liscense, so I can technically get 6. I haven't had a problem at all with returns. The only thing is, it must be in their system. If they scan it and it rejects it, then is when you will run into issues. What I would do is write down the UPC code from the amazon product and then go into wal-mart and make sure they have the item and the UPC's match, if they do .. then it shouldn't be a problem at all. I agree .. I hate the idea of online returns!
  6. You guys have all made me feel so much better. My oldest son 14, he has always been the kinda kid who understand money really DOESN'T grow on trees. It is hard to get him to tell me 1 thing to get for him. I generally start prying him pretty early with threats of no Christmas at all if he doesn't tell me something. My DS 10, if a store has it or their is a commercial for it, he wants it. My DD 6, She seems to be a pretty normal little girl for her age. I have always tried to explain to my children that Mommies and Daddy's have to pay Santa for the toys. That how else could he afford to bring so many toys to all the boys and girls of the world if parents didn't have to pay. I think it helps explain why some children get more elaborate gifts and some don't also. Tossed that list thing years ago. I still get them verbally, but I think they have a pretty good understanding that Santa will try to bring them SOME of what they want, but he can't bring them everything they want.
  7. When I was a kid my parents never wrapped Santa gifts. They were just all under the tree on Christmas morning. I was an onlu child so I suppose this was okay and worked out for them. Myself, I have 3 children running around on Christmas morning. I always wrap the Santa gifts. I was to be able to pay attention to each and every gift as it is opened so I can see the expression on their faces. I wil generaly have the "santa for the year" pass out the gifts to everyone. They each get to choose one gift and open it. They all wait until everyone's gift is open before they can start with another gift.
  8. My kids have a Net 10 phone. The minutes are .10 each & texts .05. The cards are available beginning in $15 denominations (150 minutes). You can save a credit card or bank account to your account and automatically add your prefered denomination before the expirations dates. ($15 cards expire every 30 days) Unused minutes roll over as long as you do not go past your date to refill. My son is 14 and pretty responcible, he has about 700 minutes on his phone now. I explained to him if he is very careful and ONLY uses it in emergencies, and texts me if he just needs to tell me one thing that eventualy he will have enough minutes that he no longer has to be so careful and cautious. I have had no complaints with their service.
  9. You could make some little anchors kind of like I did with the ACU stockings possibly. Also most of the craft stores sell the little wood embellisments, many of them already painted. You might be able to find some little ships there & use those as ornaments. Maybe even make or buy some small US flags to add to the tree. I also made my tree skirt myself. Just got the blue fabric at wal-mart for $1 a yard and added red ribbon and little star ornaments ment for a small tree. I just glued them on with some fabric glue and used stitch witchery to add the ribbon. (the stuff you put between to fabrics and iron to make a hem without sewing) I purchased all of my ribbon at the dollar tree. I think there was about 12-18 feet on each roll & it made about 2-3 bows to each roll. Hope this gave you a few ideas. It was a lot of fun to come up with all of the ideas & in some little way, I think it is all making the holidays without my husband a little easier to bear.
  10. Very speedy. I ordered mine yesterday and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.
  11. Thanks. When I told DH what I intended to do, he thought it was one of the silliest ideas he had ever heard. I didn't think so. I made all the stockings and bows and it gave me something to do for a few weeks to keep busy. The kids liked the idea too, so I thought, what the heck! :) The soliders "yard card" I found at Wal-Mart for $18.xx and thought it was differant so I picked it up. The lit yellow ribbon, I found at our PX from one of the vendors. I will put it in my window after Chrsitmas. :) Thanks for the compliments.
  12. You can cancel any items that have not yet shipped through your my recent orders options. I have canceled items before that were going to be shipped out late due to being back ordered. HTH
  13. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h205/regnilc/christmasdec008.jpg We live on Post, so excuse the "housing" ... These are our outdoor decorations http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h205/regnilc/christmasdec015.jpg This year, we decided to have a "come home soon Daddy tree oppose to the traditional Christmas Tree
  14. sweetie... I think I have looked everywhere, if you have the actual name of what your looking for that might help us help you better. I defiantely don't mind doing searches. I will check back in the morning for a reply. :)
  15. With my husband deployed and not being able to call home, I am just a nervous wreck with nothing to do .. SO ... I have been doing some searches for you. http://www.toystogrowon.com/resultsSAL01 is a link to toy deals up to 75% off. Not sure if your item is in that or not. What exactly are you looking for and I might be able to help you out a little more.
  16. Yep!!! My kids drive me CRAZY with that movie and soundtrack. I doubt you could pass it off. Maybe you could print out a photo of it or something and tuck it in their stocking with a note from Santa that he accidentally forgot it at the North Pole but will make sure to suprize them with it by making a special trip back later???
  17. Yes, it cheaper. I paid $19.99 for the style doll, minus the coupon I used $14.99, I just paid $10.35 (including shipping after the discount) and I can return mine to Target. I will ctually get the whole $19.99 plus tax back so $20 something back. In the end, I will have paid $5 for the toy. :)
  18. Thank you thank you thank you!!! OMGoodness you guys have helped me save a bunch already. All my shopping was completed before Thanksgiving, but now I am in the re-buy it and return the other one mode! :) Worked Perfectly!!!
  19. Looks like amazon is the only place it is listed online. $26.99, but like friholic said, it won't ship until after Dec 24.
  20. Yep, our store had many of them also. They still have the $3.98 items like the coffe maker & toaster, the $50 "ripstick" knockoff and a few other items, I really can't remember. In case anyone was wondering on those ripstick things, the actual "ripsticks" look like they are worth every penny of the extra $27.
  21. Wow, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't say that enough. I was able to get some of the coupons for use instore and got some GREAT deals for my DD6. I purchased the bus, the stylin doll, cars with dolls & the target specials those stackable rooms as well as a few dolls with some accessories. Just the other day she said how much she wanted the plane. I didn't get it because of the price. She just happened to be one gift short from her brothers and this is PERFECT! Thanks so much again.
  22. Thanks! Okay .. So I have to get the one with the HD. I am so glad my son said something! I would have for sure went wrong on this. He loves his Xbox halo games and would want them on 360 also .. and YES, he does want to be on LIVE also. I didn't realize there was a free version of that. I will have to figure out how to get his xbox ready for it! Thanks so much.
  23. My son really wants one of these also. Can someone PLEASE help me on this ... is it true that the "core system" (such as the arcade) will not play orginal xbox games? It is important that it will because my son wants this for Halo 3 and he owns 1 & 2 already. Thanks fo all of your help!!!
