  1. Likewise, I was checking that laptop all day yesterday and into the evening to see if it would become active at midnight or early this morning but no dice. I'm guessing since it wasn't on the list of online deals it is an in-store only sale.
  2. Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 39. --------------------------------------- Cold but not too bad for Pittsburgh. :) Layers it is!
  3. Hit: The Sharp 46" LCD I bought at Circuit City.. Still loving it to this day Misses: I live in the middle of nowhere so I would say anything that went on sale online early.. A miss because we still didn't have high speed internet available yet This year however things will be different!
  4. I used to work at Wal-Mart while in college so it was never fun working Black Friday.. I worked in the grocery side but they scheduled all of us to work just because the influx of customers would also buy their groceries while they were there. I must say it was funny and sad in the breakroom prior to 5am when people would be scared of the people who would camp out and try to break into the doorbuster pallets in the main aisleways before the offical sale time. Now that I'm a schill for corporate america however, BF is a paid day off thankfully :) My company also has a mandatory shutdown to retool and repair the production lines the week after Christmas so that's always nice too :)
  5. Thanks Brad. I was preferring to go the price match route now just because of the time crunch before I leave for vacation, I didn't want to pay to expedite shipping from an online vendor.
  6. Does anyone know the price match policy for Sears? Reason I ask is I have my eye on the Panasonic Lumix TZ4 camera that appears in the black friday ad. I called my store today and they said that as long as it's not a doorbuster they will price match anything within 30 days as long as I come in on BF for that promo price. However when I stopped at that same store later in the day I asked the clerk and he said no, we will not price match a BF price, even if it's not a doorbuster. I am going on vacation next week so I was hoping to get this camera early and take advantage of the price match policy next month.. Any thoughts or past experiences are greatly appreciated, thanks!
  7. Well my experience is that in my area outside of the city (specifically NW) is much less hectic than the bigger shopping areas that most people gravitate to closer to the city. I moved back to the suburbs about 3 years ago and I have noticed a marked difference in the lines. I also saw that lines were shorter last year with the threat of snow, though it ended up just being snow flurries all night. If you did decide to head this direction for shopping you could also choose to try and stop at the outlet stores north of Pittsburgh (about an hour north on I-79 ) I believe they start their sales at midnight.
  8. My CC northwest of Pittsburgh moved to a new building this year so it will be interesting to see how the lines are. Last year I felt I had no hope of getting in line in time there for one of the Sharp LCD HDTV's they had on sale so I strolled into the store around 8am and asked about them and they ordered one on the spot for me, despite the store being long sold out of them. There aren't many CC's in my area so I'm not sure if the new layout of this store is a generic one or custom designed to the space, but I have been in my new store here and it looks like traffic flow will be much better than in past years. There is much more open space and the departments are organized much better with easier access to everything you need. Much like all of us, I am in for the smaller items this year, specifically an external HD and a digital camera so if there are any good deals I'll be there early!
  9. Just outside Pittsburgh PA. I love being in the rust belt! Slow economy and poor weather keeps the suburban store lines short :)
  10. I don't have enough messages to PM you. Could you please email the list to me at [email protected] . Thanks!
  11. Sorry, I couldn't find anything on this TV in a quick search either. I recommend you go to cnet.com and do a search of tv reviews. You can set up your search any way you'd like.. by size, manufacturer, editors review, etc. What I think this will help you do is at the very least see all the different options and price levels available to you. If you would like my unsolicited advice, if you are looking for a cheaper plasma TV I would recommend the Panasonic line of TV's. For the price they are a pretty good buy. If you have any more questions please let us know.
  12. One thing to remember when looking for a new TV this year.. For 1080p resolutions, most sources will tell you that unless your screen is 50" or above even the most discerning eyes will probably not be able to tell the difference between the lower resolutions (720p/1080i). Obviously the choice is yours and I don't want to sway you one way or the other, just wanted to make sure that you knew that 1080p is nice but with a 32 or 37 inch screen you probably won't be able to tell the difference. Lastly, I would highly recommend you go to sites like CNET, best buy or amazon to read the user reviews for the TV's you are searching for. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!
