  1. That would not be a good thing for him to do! Silly man!
  2. A lot of times, we aren't in our own area to shop on BF because we are visiting family for the holiday. One year, I went into a store that had an ad for the kids toy Barbie Computer for my daughter. It was a grocery type store, that I had never been in before, so I didn't know about their strange policy! I had it and waited in the line for almost an hour only to be told they wouldn't except debit cards that had to be ran as a credit card, credit cards or checks. They only accepted cash or debit cards with a pin number. I didn't have enough cash on me, and my debit card couldn't be used with a pin number unless it was an ATM. I explained this to them, but it didn't matter. I was upset about this and told them, I wouldn't be able to get it then. I was walking away, when a hand touched my arm and asked me to wait. It was the elderly lady behind me. She handed them the money for the computer and told me that I could either write her a check, or she would wait until I could get the cash from an ATM and come back. It was so sweet of her to do that! I was so thankful to her.
  3. At the beginning of the year, most teacher's send home a questionaire for you to fill out, so they can get to know your child. I also send one to the teacher, to get to know the teacher! This helps when you want to send something in for the teacher for a gift, it also helps to get to know him or her. I have never had a teacher not respond, and I got great feed back from them because they loved the idea! I have never gone wrong with doing this, and it helps soooo much when you want to give a nice gift that was thought out! That also gets rid of the problem of allergies, scents they don't like, etc.:) If the teachers like candies and cookies from scratch, I always include those with their gift! We have 5 children, and there have been some years that we didn't have much money left when it came to teacher's gifts. We still wanted to let them know we appreciated them, so we would do something fun up. I love working in hand made crafts, as well as doing things on the computer, such as graphics. One year we made up gift baskets (the baskets purchased at Dollar Tree, cute metal ones). Using some really nice graphics, I made some cute notecards on the computer for them to use (thank you, birthday, and multi-purpose) and a couple of bookmarkers and lamenated them. Then I printed up some things to do notes and shopping lists. I tied each bundle with cute ribbons for the ladies, and with twine for the guys. Ran some colored paper through a shredder and crinkled it up, put it in the bottom of the baskets and arranged the little bundles in it with homemade cookies and candies in cute little wrapped packages. Put basket wrap around it, tied it up and added a cute little craft my child made for them to decorate it. The teachers all loved them, even the guys! I even had one of the male teachers offer to pay me to make some up for his wife's stocking, because she loved that kind of stuff, and another teacher tell me she hoped she got one of my kids the next year, because she loved these type gifts the best.
  4. When I worked retail, I would volunteer for the night shift. It worked! No one wanted to work after eating Thanksgiving dinner till they could pop, and others wanted to be fresh and alert, so they wouldn't work it. I would ask for that Saturday off instead. It worked! I worked my shift, shopped till I dropped, and then went to sleep. I decided I no longer wanted to work during the day on BF again after a very, disturbing experience! I was a Department Manager in the toy department back when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out the first time. People were scary! We had to quit putting the 4 turtles out because people were hurting each other! We had 2 women get in a knock down drag out fight! One was yanking on the others hair slamming her head down on the tile. It was a bloody mess and we had to call the police, ambulance, etc. We also had people fighting over some doll. Star Bright or something another. You pushed her tummy and she sparkled. Not sure what her name was, but people can really act ridiculous. But I guess it does give you stories to tell! Lol!
  5. Yay! Thanks for posting, and to the person that submitted it!
  6. I just wish we had a Wal-Mart! Thankfully my sweet sister will be shopping for me on BF!:)
  7. #1- I have always been persuaded or dragged out on this day by female family member, my husband. (But believe it or not, I will really miss it this year, as I can't go, only shop online:( ) #2- Great prices and the thrill of seeing if I can get what we wanted on our lists, or to see if I find a deal I didn't know about in advance!
  8. Is a bit odd with the names huh? Plus some people don't know they have the DC07 versus the DC14 versions. I have the DC14 Full Gear. I thought I had the animal until I read on it just now. Lol. The only difference is, the full kit comes with and extended warranty. It has all that the animal does though.
  9. Which model are you looking for?:)
  10. I had noticed that all of those ride on toys had been lowered already. The Dora Kitchen is actually $10 cheaper, as well as a few other things that are cheaper!
  11. If you go to WalMart.com online, you will see that some of the prices have already been rolled back, and some of the prices are cheaper than the ad! Has anyone else noticed this?
  12. I have 2 girls, 13 and 8. Both of them love making bracelets. This is something all the kids are wearing, boys and girls. They make both the embroidery floss kind, and the beaded kinds. I know the craft stores such as Michaels and JoAnn fabrics, as well as stores like Wal-Mart sell these. They even have boyish type beads as well to add to theirs. This is something my 13 year old started about 4 years ago, and still loves it! They even have some fun reasonable priced weave looms for it. So you could pick her up one of those large mutli packs of floss, some beads, and some string, etc and put it in some of those nice little plastic cases to keep it organized. Wal-Mart has the best prices on the little cases.

    treats?

My homemade buckeyes and bourban balls!
  16. They are really yummy! My mother-in-law sent them to us for part of our Christmas last year and the year before!
  17. Do you really have to choose? You could always invite everyone to your place, or explain to everyone that you are torn, and if they don't want to do it at your place, or if you can't, then see if she can be with you wherever you are. :)

    christmas music

Around the middle of November is when we usually start to listen to it.
  19. A huge smoked ham! But we also have all the great yummy things to go with it! Candied sweet potatoes, potato salad, green beans, corn, cranberry relish, pineapple casserole, tons of relish items like different kinds of pickles, olives, and raw veggies and dips. And don't forget several kinds of homemade pies, desserts, bread and rolls!
  20. I think I'm very lucky in that respect. I don't think I have any bad gift givers!
  21. I usually try to tell him. Back when he traveled a lot, some things ended up being a surprise to him too for the kids. It wasn't always easy to show him everything if he was in another state or country, because when he would get back, they'd be hidden away from the kids. Now he knows them as I get them or order them, and even gets to help with all of that! :) Ofcourse all of his gifts have always been a surprise!
  22. I have a Dyson Animal and I just love it. We have a dog, a cat, and 5 kids and it does great! Our first floor is ceramic tile with a couple of really nice carpets on part of two of the rooms, with our second floor and steps being carpeted. This vacuum really does a great job and I don't have any complaints with it at all. It was pricey, but well worth it. Also you have to consider, you never have to buy bags, filters, or belts. Those add up over time.
  23. I have shopped online some when they have a sale going on. Clothes and shoes. I am hoping that when we get to the states, they will have some great sale's going on!
  24. Well, actually it started in our house, because we have 5 children. So we didn't always splurge on the cutesy toothbrushes and fun toothpastes. So we would put the fun ones in there as well as Easter Baskets at Easter. We figured, they get a ton of candy, so promote good dental habits with it! They love getting the special toothbrushes and toothpaste a couple of times a year! And they look forward to it believe it or not.
  25. No, we don't wrap the ones in the stocking. We wrap the majority of what goes under or around the tree. With the exception of a few to look cute, like a stuffed animal or doll on top of each child's pile!
