    St. Nick

We do shoes in front of the fireplace. St. Nick brings candy and a couple small toys. We still do stockings on Christmas too. I didn't grow up Catholic, so I wanted to keep that tradition even though we are Catholic and do St. Nick.
  2. I make this one with sausage and cranberries. Delish! http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/sausage-and-cranberry-stuffing/Detail.aspx
  3. That's what a family member who works at WM told me. The lines will only be for the "hot" items like TV's and laptops, not the smaller things.
  4. Thanks, Brad. I couldn't get in a bit ago, and I was lost!!
  5. Ours still had a pallet of the upscaling DVD player today.
  6. In my family, we just buy for the little ones. My daughter is 4, and I have a sister who is 10. The adults play dirty Santa, and that's it. Husband's family is HUGE. He is one of 7. Then there are 5 in-laws, 2 kids and his parents. We usually draw names, but my MIL wants a limit of $75! Husband and I think that's asinine, so we don't usually participate. We buy for our nephew, and that's it. We are all adults, and I think a $75 limit is crazy. We would be expected to shell out $225 just on that side of the family. We spend $25-30 on my sister and maybe another $25 for dirty Santa.

Thanks for looking, Brad. It's almost midnight here, so I guess if it's not posted soon, I'll just check again in the morning. :)

    Weekly secret Items

Do you guys think they're posted at midnight? Or is it later, like maybe 6am?
  9. It's the perfect place! He's off the floor, but still low enough so my 4 year-old can see him.
  10. I think it's a great idea to have everyone help. We usually put up our outside lights in the beginning of November, but don't turn them on until Thanksgiving. The tree goes up Black Friday afternoon/evening.
  11. We have an old trunk, so I put it in there. The guinea pig's cage sits on top of it, so no one thinks to look there. :)
  12. My aunt works for a local Walmart and was told that this year, they will be going to a ticket system similar to BestBuy. Her store is a small one in Southeastern Illinois, and I figure if that small of a store is going to the ticket system maybe they all are? Have any of you heard anything like this?
  13. Probably about the same. We do a 1 year CD, and put roughly the same amount in it each year. I'm not sure though, we don't have any big ticket items we are looking for so I may not spend as much...we'll just have to see what the ads say!
  14. I always go with my mom. We've shopped together every BF for AT LEAST the last 10 years. This year, I'll be bringing my South Korean exchange daughter. She's already pumped about it!
  15. We don't camp, so I take my money, a huge purse to fit my BF 3 ring binder in, and some reusable shopping totes so I can try to get away without pushing a cart. I am loving the index card idea!! I may have to try that this year.
  16. We've bought the cheapy PJ's at Walmart, and they were TINY! My daughter got to wear them once...eh, at least they were cheap! Oh, and PIXOS. God, I hate pixos. What a mess.
  17. Thanks, Brad! Wow. It looks like Walmart really stepped up their game this year.
  18. That? Is made of awesomeness. I'm heading out to get a binder. :)
  19. Pretty craptastic. I can't believe the kids 4 piece jammies are $4 more than last year. We were hoping for a Vizio tv to be on sale like last year, but maybe it will be a Secret Item.
  20. There was a huge TV last year for $500.

    How do you wrap?

We use brown postal paper as well, and stamp it and put nice ribbons on it. I love the newspaper idea! How creative!

    stocking stuffers

My mom always said she put the orange in the toe of the stocking to help fill up space.
  23. I'm hoping Walmart will release a 37 inch on their Secret Sale that they release on Thanksgiving. Otherwise, I'll probably buy my tv elsewhere.
  24. We have a large tree in the living room, decorated with rustic primitive ornaments. There is a tree in the master bedroom with Americana decor, daughter has a pink tree with pearls as ornaments, there are also two little trees in the kitchen with red and white checked fabric ornaments. We'll probably have a tree on the landing of the staircase, and four tabletop trees go across the mantle of the fireplace.
