    Sale Time

My aunt, a department manager, just emailed me that the first sale will begin at 6pm on Thursday. So much for Black FRIDAY...
  8. I'll miss the traditions of getting up at 2am to get in line for stores to open, rushing like crazy, and trying to get to the next place. My mom and I have BF shopped since I was 15 years old..it's our "thing". This year, we'll be staying in our jammies at my house with laptops and iPads in hand and shop online. I'm just not excited about this year.
  9. I'll be following this for more advice. Honestly, last year I was just...let down with the whole BF experience. I really loved it when it was about getting in line for the stores to open, and only the hardcore were out. Last year we wandered into stores that were packed with people and their kids, itty bitty kids. I was just over it. I think this year we may all just congregate at my house with our laptops and iPads and shop in our jammies.
  10. I don't mind sharing my binder or good prices. I DO mind when I get handed a list and am expected to buy things for someone else. My mantra is "I will shop for your stuff once I get all of mine." I'm not going to miss out on a deal I'm wanting so I can get my MIL ANOTHER $3 appliance.
  11. I'm also missing the toy pages. The pages with the bikes and trampoline are there, but the pages of $5 toys and $10 toys are also missing. I'm in Southeastern Illinois, so I wonder if our ads came from the same printer or distribution area?
  12. Mine is missing pages too...seems like the same pages...weird.
  13. Our store, near University of Illinois, had the half zip NCAA hoodies. The Tennessee ones. When I walked by as I was leaving, they were ALL still there. The dept. manager was all, "Oh, I guess I should have specified which college...." Duh.
  14. I didn't have any problems buying the iTunes card either. We went at 6 am and were the ONLY ones there for the sale. We were after 2 laptops (for our parents) and the store had 21. People didn't start lining up until 7:30.
  15. Oster is a good brand. The functionality of doing 1, 1.5 or 2 lb. loaves The baking pan is horizontal, rather than vertical. The loaves have a nicer shape Dough settings as well as jam setting The lid is not a huge dome, which causes condensation and lessens the browning and the removable lid is nice for cleaning. The price is also good for an Oster brand. If you end up getting it, let me know if you would like some recipes. I use my bread machine at least 3 times a week. :)
  16. I would go with this one from Kohl's instead. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/kitchendining/brandsforkitchen/oster/PRD~114157/Oster+ExpressBake+Breadmaker.jsp?prtID=pfx&src=k16730&cm_mmc=Performics-_-Affiliate-_-BradsDeals.com-_-Expect%20Great%20Things%20at%20Kohls.com
  17. I got the Sing a ma jig that I ordered for my daughter yesterday. It is adorable! My boss also said that she saw them in CVS. Might be worth a look.
  18. I ordered my daughter a Sing-a-ma-jig last night. I was afraid they'd be hard to find closer to Christmas.
  19. I never carry cash either! Luckily my mom was with me and had enough cash to cover me!
  20. A messenger bag with my BF binder. I make a spreadsheet for each store listing each item, the price, page on the ad, and any additional info (sizing, color, etc.) All the ads are in the back pocket of the binder. I also take my cell, gum, a water bottle and a bottle of Excedrin Migraine. :) This year I will be carrying more cash. Last year Walmart was a nightmare! Their credit card system went down and they couldn't do checks either. I'm hoping not to repeat that this year!
  21. My mom and I started going when I was 15. The first year we scored a $500 computer. :) I'll be 30 this year, so I've been going 15 years. This year I'll be taking my 18 year old exchange student with me. She is already super excited about it!
  22. I canned some bruschetta in a jar from my crop of tomatoes this summer. I'm planning on putting a jar of that, a loaf of french bread and maybe something else in a basket for my daughter's teacher. There is also an aide in her class in the morning and a different part time teacher in the afternoon. I figure I may do something a little smaller for them.
