Today Washington's Governor announced our schools will finish out the school year online. While I believe this is the wisest decision, as a classified substitute for two districts (meaning I do office support work, not instruction) there has been no jobs for me since mid-March. I do not know if the districts have told their administrative personnel that they couldn't have time off during this time, even for things like doctors appointments, or if they are allowing them time off without bringing in a substitute.
I am considering looking for a temporary position to carry me throughout the summer. But, being immunocompromised, I have no idea what type of temporary position I can even be qualified for in these times. I guess my best bet will be to wait and see what the school districts do. But as a paycheck to paycheck worker, this is very concerning.
You should qualify for unemployment and if you get the extra bump there giving that might tied you over until everything is back running.

Hey, Hey, Heyyyy, Its Aprillllllll ( Fat Albert voice). I pray everyone is well and running every time someone coughs - LOL. I know I do. I know it is allergy season but when I am in the grocery store and someone coughs my buggy and I are like Dale Earnhardt - we don't take any chances. Shout out to all the healthcare workers, first responders and teachers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

240 days to go...
Thinking that Black Friday could look very different this year. Unless by November the virus is not spreading that much anymore (and we don't get a second wave after restrictions are lifted this summer), I can't see retailers encouraging people to gather for massive Black Friday sales.
Rumors are Home Depot won't be advertising their Spring Black Friday this year (although the deals might still be there, just unadvertised). Target seems to have temporarily paused their printed weekly ads and just have a smaller online version on their site. There could be many stores that don't do printed ads this year and just have online sales similar to their Cyber Monday sales where we won't know what's going to be on sale ahead of time. It's all up in the air.
Black Friday may end up being a smaller online-only event. If I were the head of a retailer, I'd be planning on Q4 being online-focused and getting extra warehouse space, planning on hiring in that area and preparing for a much higher percentage of Q4 sales to come from online compared to previous years. Even if things improve and they can have traditional BF sales, there will still be a big chunk of people that will want to avoid crowds this year and do more shopping online.
Many of us primarily do BF shopping online because it's easier but now it may be the only realistic option this year. Hopefully I'm wrong and things are back to normal by then but at least when it comes to this site I'm preparing for both scenarios.
What does everyone think? How normal will BF be this year?
I had been looking for the HD and Lowes spring sale to get my yard in order this spring. I guess I know why I have not seen it yet. I am of the same thought as Brad. I do not see Black Friday being a big to do this year. The forecast for every business has been destroyed, but that could mean steep discounts on everything so that some companies can stay aflot next year after everything returns to "normal". I think that the products made in America may be a big hit as the stigma of the virus reentering our country will be here for a while. So all in all I am planing for majority online which means the delivery companies will be overloaded this year again.

My husband and I are both at home, so we decided we'd paint the house. We had been talking about doing it spring break anyway. And we aren't busy, we just have to be available to answer any questions or fix issues that come up.
We painted the bedroom this weekend. And called a painter today.
(To be a little fair, the other areas to be painted have high ceilings, some of them over stairs.)
I started in the garage yesterday and have made several list of things to do. Hopefully I can get it all completed

Well, I am alive......Well until I run out of meat. All of my grocery stores are completely out of produce, meat and can goods. The crazy thing is that my area is completely okay. Only 19 presumptive cases and out of the 19 only 7 validated for the entire state. So why can I not buy groceries ? Everything ha been cancelled, all schools was closed as of 5pm yesterday evening ( how are you going to tell people on a Sunday evening to find somewhere for a million kids to go by 8am the next morning)......I digress this panic is unbelievable. Be safe but not crazy.

All 6 US deaths due to coronavirus occurred at the hospital I frequent for monitoring my leukemia. The senior living center 5 of the cases came from is about 5 miles away from where I live.
Even though I am immunocompromised due to my chemotherapy, I am not self isolating or avoiding social events and gatherings.
Instead, I am continuing my standard of hygiene. I sing through Happy Birthday twice as I wash my hands. I use paper towels to open doors, and discard them in the trash immediately after. For now, I avoid shaking hands, and am surpressing my natural inclination to be a hugger.
Coronavirus is in my community. Life goes on. I will live my life, take reasonable precautions, and refuse to panic.
Sounds great, but please be safe especially if it is in your area. I try not to get caught up with the build up in the media but I rather be safe than sorry especially with a weakened immune system.

Well, we made it to another month and what a way to finish a game last night. The Chiefs did an amazing job finishing well.

I live in a very small town in Oklahoma, and one of our hometown boys plays for the Chiefs. So, needless to say, our whole town is pumped. Go Chiefs!
(full disclosure - I love NCAA football, but I've never been an NFL fan. It IS pretty cool though that someone that went to school with my kids is playing in the freaking super bowl!!!)
A good friend of mine played for the Chiefs for about 4 years as a wide receiver. I think Andy Reid has done a fantastic job of turning around that franchise. Ron Rivera will do the same for Washington.

I just went through my list one more time and realized that the pizelle maker I ordered for my mother hasn’t arrived yet. So I’ll be tracking that down.
This last quarter of 2019 can just get over with whenever it’s ready. My MIL had emergency gall bladder issues that went on for 3 months, my mother broke her wrist in a nasty fall last week and had surgery yesterday (She and her cat are currently living with us). Two of my employees just went out with long term (one potentially terminal) illnesses. My 9 year old’s blood pressure is out of control, so they’re adding new meds for him with some unpleasant side effects. I’m tired of all of these loved ones being in pain.
Needless to say, I am nowhere near finished with Christmas prep. I’m thankful to be off from work for 2 weeks after today. Hopefully I can catch up either over the weekend or last-minute on Monday. I have a ton of gift cards left to get for stockings, and I still need to write the letter from Santa for the boys. Our decor is very scaled back this year, but it’s ok. I keep telling myself that we will do it “right” for Christmas in July lol
It just hasn’t seemed like a normal advent for us. 2020 has GOT to be better.
Praying for you and I agree 100%

I am almost done. 2 items was cancelled so now I am scrambling trying to figure out how to get them here before Christmas without paying 30$+ in shipping each. My teacher gift was delayed and QVC will not expedite so I have to figure out something by tomorrow...... Then I just have gift cards to get...... I love it when a plan DOESNT come together.

Okay, so I opened my ornament today.....AND IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. It is a custom Carolina Panthers ornament. It is amazing. A few years ago my other OE person got me one and they look so good together. I always save my secret santa package until Christmas morning so I will update everyone on that one later. Side note It took me 53 minutes to get through the line at the post office....... but I did it . SMH

I received my OE and SS gift the other day. It was mixed in with a few other packages. I have taken a half a day off so that I can get done all the things I need to and the post office is my first step. Wish me luck because there lines are like the old black friday lines - around the parking lot.

Walmart and Target are not far behind. They use huge boxes with not package filler for board games....
-
Oh my.... I am a bad elf..... I have been so busy, but I do have my packages completed....now getting to the post office is another story. Traffic is horrendous. I would leave on my porch but we are having a string of porch thefts this year and everyone is talking about not leaving anything on your porch. Never had an issue in my area but just to be safe..... So I am going to try and make it on my lunch break tomorrow or asking my neighbor who will most likely interrogate me on why I need her to hand it to the post man... Like lady you have none me since I was a kid, just hand it to him. I love her to death but she is a serious little lady. Well enough of that. I am on it and it will be in the mailed this week.

I have not but I'm pretty sure jaymacfl said he saw a lot of them being returned to Walmart in his many trips there this weekend. Not sure the reasons why they got returned.
Interesting.....

Just got back from Walmart doing some grocery shopping after being gone all weekend and I was shocked at how much BF stuff they had left, marked as “Managers special” now. I guess the most shocking was an entire pallet full of the Pioneer Woman gadget sets and half a pallet of her cookware. They still had Instant Pots, shop vacs, TV’s, and tons of the big toys left. I was even able to get the outdoor lighted Snowmen Family that I wanted today!
Wow.....by Saturday afternoon my Walmart was cleaned out of almost everything. Not sure about the other ones around me.

I would like a GOTTDEAL BAT so that I can finally go to the supermarket......shame people will buy up everything and then try to resell it in the stores parking lot? I'm like REALLY!!!!! The nerve of some people. So a bat, nun chucks, spear, etc....you get my drift.....
