  1. I agree they should pick one or the other, TRU is not close to me, and I'm not heading to the same store twice in such a small amount of time. They have good deals at 10pm so I think I will be going then, maybe after I hit some other stores on Friday, I'll pass by TRU.
  2. Here we go, Black Thursday. I knew it was coming. I don't mind them opening up at 10pm at all, I can do some shopping, get some sleep, and then wake up shopping again. Can't beat that.
  3. Nate Dogg, you gotta take one for the team. Do like my kids do and hide things under the beds and in the closets. "Out of sight, out of mind."
  4. I don't see anything that I like in the ad, it seems the dvd selection was way bigger last year. Hubby and I cleaned house with all the dvds on sale. Also, what is with the stores not doing any deals on 32gb Ipod Touches? Everything seems to be geared towards 8gb. Also I thought the toy selection could have been better.
  5. I am contemplating getting this for my 12 yo, does this require extra packets to make the blizzards and do they offer these extra packets in stores? Is it like the easy bake oven thing where you are always having to buy things for it, or can you use your own ice cream and then your own candy?
  6. UtahHotDeals, So...you saw the ad around this time in the store, huh? You know what you gotta do, get us some ads.
  7. There are so many apps on such a broad range, they even have apps for preschoolers to teach them colors, numbers, alphabet, word recognition. I let my 3 and 4 year olds play with it when we are in the doctor's office and it keeps them occupied. I said responsibility because I expect that if I allow my children to have such a device as an ipod touch that if I tell them "hey, I don't want you go downloading or going on certain sites that they would do that." If they do what I tell them to do, they are being responsible. I don't see it as buying an ipod because everyone else has one or peer pressure because the reverse of that is, "can I get an ipod because none of my friends have one yet and I want to be the first one to have one." Then do you run out and buy your child one so she can be ahead of her friends and be the one envied? I think we as parents try so hard to be two steps ahead of everything, that we over think things. An ipod is a good entertainment device, but it can be so much more than that, if we (as parents) are uncomfortable with some of the things that the ipod offers then place limits on those things you don't want them doing with it. If you can, before buying one, maybe browse throught the itunes store to take a look at some of the apps. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with getting a 7 or 8 year old an ipod touch, but they would get an older version of it because those still let them use apps and have the mp3 player. When they get older (teenager), I would get them the more updated version. Again, giving them something to look forward to.
  8. 1Josh, I get what you are saying about the age, but at some point you have to teach them responsibility. My daughter had a cell phone when she was 8. I gave it to her for my peace of mind because we lived in military housing and no buses were provided so she walked to school with a group of friends (our school was directly behind our house). She called me to let me know she was starting her walk home and also she would use it to call me when she went to a sleepover (she didn't feel comfortable using their phone). She still has a cell phone and she's 12, she doesn't use it to call her friends, she uses it to keep me informed. The other day she called and told me they were stranded at school because her bus broke down. As far as the mp3 players, toys in general have gone up in price, baby dolls and accessories would equal the same as a refurbished ipod, so I don't know if cost would be the issue. I wouldn't get my daughter a $300 32gb ipod touch, but if she wanted I would get her the lower end of it, meaning a 8gb ipod touch if she was responsible enough. You just have to think though, "If I give her everything she wants now while she is 7 or 8 years old, what will I give her when she's a teenager." Let them look forward to some things.
  9. I think both the 7 and 10 year old would like electronics, such as an mp3 player (doesn't have to be ipod, there are tons that will be on sale) or a digital camera (those are pretty cheap nowadays). My girls like the Monster High dolls, zoobles. I have an 11 year old for her big ticket item she is getting a razor mod scooter, Walmart has for $197, here's the link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Razor-Electric-Mod-Scooter-Sweet/10746396. She is very excited about that one. Also she likes to use my digital camera so I found her one last weekend in one of TRU's 2-day sales for $39, it also has video recording. DVD boxsets of their favorite shows is also an option.
  10. If you really wanted to get your daughter an ipod touch, I would go with the 2nd generation and buy her an extra camera. Digital cameras are pretty cheap and the apple store has refurbished, certified ipods with free shipping for $149. The reason I say get the ipod (older version) and the camera is space. If you get the new ipod 8gb, then she will be taking a lot of pictures and videos and you would run out of space for apps and songs. Plus it would probably be a good idea to test out her responsibility. If she doesn't break the ipod or camera then later on upgrade her to the newer ipod with maybe the 32gb storage. I'm sure apple will have a new generation coming out every year, so your not missing out on anything.
  11. Last year, I think November 6th is when WM started the pre-ordered dvds for $10 and free shipping. WM, Amazon, and Target were all having price wars trying to get people to buy from them. I wonder if they are going to do that again this year. The thing is I don't remember them publicly announcing it, I heard about it on the "online hot deals" forum. Every week I would get a new release dvd in the mail, it was awesome. Has anyone heard anything about that?
  12. Yeah, I'm feeling like Toys R Us all over again. Why do these stores keep having coupon offers for great deals that the customers have to chase down and find the coupons.
  13. Thank you so much for the info, I have an old zune that I have just laying around, haven't used it in years. Plus there might be some other stuff I can trade in. I had no idea BB did trades.

    Big Toy Book

I went through 4 different papers at 3 different stores and none of them had the toy book in them. When I went to TRU they had plenty of books but no coupons on them, NONE. I was told by customer service that not all people got them, no one who worked their received them and they think that coupons were only sent out to people who spent a lot money in TRU and cardholders. What BS, really TRU you might have lost a very loyal customer trying to cut corners.

What the heck, Sunday's paper, no book. I guess I'll talk it over with customer service. This is ridiculous.
  16. Yeah I went to Amazon the other day bc the zoolert said they were preordering. I preordered but they can't give me a date when they will be available. If it's like the zuzu pets last year they will be hard to find Oct/Nov, but I saw plenty of them a few weeks before Christmas in places like CVS Pharmacy.

We have a Sunday early edition that comes out on Saturdays and no catalogs for no stores were in there. Hopefully tomorrow. If I don't have any coupons I will definitely not be shopping at TRU it defeats the purpose when I can get the toys cheaper elsewhere.
  18. I have been trying to find (everywhere) the Monster High Doll Clawdeen Wolf. All others seem to be available, but this one is impossible to find. Anyone got any info?
  19. Toys R Us is having another one of their 2 day sales. This time they have a 64gb Ipod Touch (3rd gen - last year's model) for $299.99 which is the same price as the new 32gb Ipod Touch (4th gen). I wanted to upgrade my old ipod touch (8 gb) and buy another one with bigger memory. Does anyone think this is a good idea to buy the older version which is $100 off or should I get the newer model 32gb with the bells and whistles (camera and facetime, etc.) for the same price? Here's the link: http://toysrus.shoplocal.com/ToysRus/default.aspx?action=entryflash&promotioncode=ToysRus-101029&DisplayPageNumber=1

It definitely wasn't in last Sunday's paper. It should be in this Sunday's paper (Halloween) since that's when the sale begins.

I never got my book either, I wonder if you can pick up the book in the store? They should also have it in the Sunday's paper, right?
  22. You know what I'm so sick and tired of Walmart and their secret ads. The crazy thing is when they come out there is nothing exciting about it. If there is something worth your while, you won't get it unless you wait at the store 2 days ahead of time because they only have 2 in stock. So if I may, let me write a short letter to WM to voice my concerns: Dear Walmart, I have seen the ads for Target and Toys R Us and have already planned accordingly. People need to know about sales ahead of time, so that they can plan financially. If you keep holding out on your ads and making everything a secret you are going to miss out. On Sunday, my day will go as follows: 1. Pass local Walmart, pass Target, to get to Toys R Us for their gift cards with purchase offers that I saw in their leaked ads. 2. Head home, go to Target I passed up and pick up their great sales offers that are already in their regular sunday ads (in my opinion Target can beat most prices when their items are on sale, keyword: on sale) 3. Stop by Walmart after I've spent all of my money to pick up deodorant (with coupon) for my husband. Oh and another thing please, stop making your rollbacks 3 cents less than the previous price, it's annoying. Thank you.

I wonder if they are putting different coupons on the books. I thought it was $10 off $75 purchase. Did you have the 20% off coupon also?

I wanted to buy the power wheel tough talking jeep, but was wondering if that might be part of the exclusion, otherwise I could save big.
