  1. Congrats. I was planning on buying one but we sold out before my break. Oh well.
  2. Call 1-800-WALMART. Layaway will open at 8AM your local time and event merchandise (toys and electronics) is supposed to be eligible. This is posted on the company's corporate intranet.
  3. You're probably right. A 24 hr store NEVER closes except on Chrirmas Eve.
  4. It depends on the demand in your area and the quantities your store received. I am thinking of buying one of these for my niece but my lunch probably won't happen until 11pm tonight. I think our store has around 40. If I were you, I'd call the store and ask how many they have and how many people (if any) are in line. Good luck!!!
  5. I hope everyone gets what they want on BF. good luck to y'all.
  6. We were told today at my store that items requiring a "voucher" were 1 per customer. If the customer is a baby, and the parents wants them to have a voucher, they get one. No questions asked. So if your family needs multiple tv's, laptops, etc... bring the kids and babies. Keep in mind, this is at the store I work at. Your store may have different rules.
  7. In our store meeting today I asked about Layaway for the 10pm and midnight doorbusters. I was told that if customers wanted to put the 10pm and midnight blitz items in their cart and wait for the 8AM layaway opening, that was OK. Be aware this is what the store I work at is doing so check with your local store. I know I wouldn't want to wait 10 hours but some people may not care.
  8. Depends on the demand for the TV in your area. May want to call your local store and ask for electronics. Ask the associate if a lot of people have been asking for the 65" TV.
  9. I would think that if you wanted to place something on layaway that's normally locked up, such as an XBox, you would be given a ticket or voucher to use when you come in to put the item on layaway at 8AM. At my store we are having a meeting tomorrow on BF plans (Q lines, etc). I will check and see how my store is going to do this and post. Remember, your store may do things different.
  10. The ad was printed BEFORE the decision was made to open Layaway BF @ 8AM local time.
  11. At the WM I work at we only received 2. I'd come VERY early.
  12. Probably not but it can't hurt to ask the store manager in the town where you will be shopping. I work at WM in a small town. Our nearest "big box" competition is 30 miles away but we match them (Target, Best Buy). WM really wants the sales this year. Be sure you talk to the store manager because they are the person that has the final approval in the store. Also, get the name of the person you talk to. Good luck!!! I hope they let you match the price!!!!
  13. Thankfully, in the United States we have a choice where we work. Those who are discouraged because they have to work a holiday should seriously consider changing careers. Anyone who is not in the retail industry and thinks sales such as this on holidays are wrong should seriously consider not shopping on holidays. We have choices in the good ol' USA!!!!
  14. If you spoke to THE store manager call 1-800-WAL-MART. Company direction (for ALL stores in the U.S.) is that BF items WILL be eligible for layaway when layaway opens at 8AM BF morning. If anyone else is being told no, call the Home Office, tell them to communicate to the local manager that they are misinformed. Unfortunately, there are some "rogue" managers in the company. Trust me. You WILL get results.
  15. I work for Walmart. BF items will be eligibel for layaway when it opens Friday morning at 8AM.
  16. Part of retail Great thing about America is that we're not forced to work where we don't want to.
  17. If you go in Thanksgiving night for the 10PM and Friday midnight doorbusters you will have to wait until layaway opens at 8AM to put those items on Layaway.
  18. Thanks for the praise. At our store we're provided meat and cheese trays in the breakroom and soda. At our store we're treated very well!!!!
  19. I feel sorry for our layaway associates (and the customers) It will be a LOOOONG slow moving line. Thank GOD I get off work hours before 8AM. I love the 10 PM start time personally. So does a majority of associates at my store.
  20. People may "choose" to "mill" around for the opening of layaway. I wouldn't . I am hoping some stuff is left over when I get off work.
  21. So far Walmart hasn't updated their Facebook page about this but I promise, it's true!!!!! Also, we price match other competitors. Be sure and match prices on your layaway purchases.
  22. I work for Walmart and layaway WILL be open. The decision was made yesterday. As I posted earlier, the opening is 8AM BF local time. If you want to put something on layaway that goes on sale at 10PM Thursday or 12 midnight Friday you will have to "babysit" it in your cart until 8AM. If you call your local store and you're told layaway will NOT be open ask the associate to check the updated FAQ section about layaway which is ONLY accessible to associates.
  23. Was told today at work that Layaway WILL open at 8AM Black Friday morning.
  24. Sounds like your local store manager is uneducated. The store I work at hasn't been told about this change. Best advice I can give you is if you call a store, ask for the store manager. Not the department manager, zone manager or assistant manager. Better yet, go in and talk to the manager person to person. If their info turns out to be false on BF hold them to their statements.
