  1. HEY Brad, Thanks for your site. I can't believe that I am this excited this far out. My family tells me that I am always this way. The question I have is when do you put up the count down in the site heading? Thanks again, Darla
  2. If you get stranded in Alaska, let me know.
  3. This is just depressing. I have read all these great lists and I still don't know what I will be shopping for. Good luck to all that have their lists ready to go.
  4. It used to just be my friend and I. Now that the kids have grown up.(They are in their 20s now) It has become a family affair. we meet for breakfast at 4 am, divide the stores and return home by 7 am.
  5. Wow, I just thought I would check it out. I am so happy to find others here. I am pretty much done with my gift shopping so now I can find the extras. My gift for this year was announced after we finished BF last year. He will camp out at whichever store I would like to go to first. He has ethical problems with giving cuts, but he will hold my spot for me and then let me go in first at that store. Only problem is that I have no clue what I may want to shop for yet. I assume, this problem will solve itself as the ads come out. Question that I have is about buying Black Friday shirts? I saw this earlier on the list and would love the answer to this question too. Have a great day planning for Black Friday 2009.
  6. I am so jealous for everyone who has Amazon Prime. I had decided to spend the money at work. I am asked to buy books a lot and the quick shipping was especially great. Unfortunately, this will not work in Alaska. Darla
  7. In Anchorage where I got my papers, the home delivery paper had the WalMart flier. The purchased newspapers didn't have the WalMart advertisement.
  8. Does next year count? My son has already let me know that he will be happy to camp out the night before at whatever store I would like to be first in line for. Now to just hope that there are some good deals. Darla
  9. This was a great year as far as organization went for me and my family. I had my lists printed off from this site. I tore them into different stores and sent people to different stores. By 6:30 am, I had the last call that all purchases had been made. Only problem I had was with Walmart ringing up the grill. Customer behind me kept complaining. I couldn't feel too bad as there wasn't anything else I could do. Walmart: 42" T.V. Nintendo Wii Grill Various small appliances Office Depot 11" photo frame - Only one the store had. 16 gb flash drives - five this is the gift of choice this year. Sam's Club Wii Fit Best gift of the day, My nephew looked at the receipts before he turned them over to me found out he only paid for four of the flash drives. He went back to the store to pay for the fifth one. Next best gift, wherever I want to be first in line next year, my son assured me the spot. He said I will be able to go to that store and thank the person in line for saving my spot and then that person will swap places and go to the end of the line. After I assured him that no one would give up their spot for me, I got the message. He will camp out for me. He will not allow me to join him in line close to the time to open the door, but he will bow out of his spot. He feels that if I joined him, that would be giving cuts to someone and that doesn't sit right with him. I loved seeing the young men in my family show so much honor.
  10. I wonder what Sears was thinking about these. My hubby and his brother were in charge of this part of the list. They bought them, the got in line at the distribution center for their 8:00 opening. My brother in law was second in line. Someone cut in front of the number one spot. Those two had an argument and lost their spots, but in BiL in first spot. He had bought two, there were only two left. Someone who showed up at 7:30 at Sears told me that he had gotten a February delivery date. Kudos to your hubby, Darla
  11. Did anyone else's paper charge extra for the paper? Our paper cost the price of a Sunday paper this morning. Darla
  12. I sure hope not. I just got off the phone with my niece who is completely across the county from me. (She is in Florida.) She thanked me for teaching her to wake up at 4:00 in the morning the day after Thanksgiving. I am so proud!
  13. I prefer giving the always accepted ultimate gift card, CASH. I will only buy gift cards for myself when I am getting more for my money. I hate the fact that VISA charges us money to buy their gift card which is essentially giving them an interest free loan. On the clarkhoward.com website, he has a good letter to pass out when you give cash. Darla
  14. Okay, you guys have too much time on your hands, either that or you like wrapping presents a lot more than I do. One big plus of living on your own or just with a spouse that doesn't care about opening presents on Christmas morning, is that we can open them anytime. This may have more to do with the fact that my family is made up of a bunch of procrastinators. I feel good if I have my Christmas presents from them before February first. Have a great day all, Darla
  15. Fred Meyers is the one I am still waiting for. I need SOCKS. I know they will be on sale, but I want to see what else will be there.
  16. It is a beginning. Last year our JCP had some things on sale that I hadn't seen before. Bath salts that I really liked. I enjoyed the sale. I am hoping for the same thing this year. Darla:fluffy: <----Me in my favorite bubble bath.
  17. One of the pluses of being a school district employee. I love having the weekend off. Too much travel for me if I didn't have it off. Darla
  18. Hi, I do this service for most of the people that I work with. As you can see by my avatar, a lot of my friends can't make it to the stores. My nephew thinks I should charge for this service, but I just do it as an act of friendship. This year I have to be more careful about keeping receipts separate. Collecting money when I can't find the receipts is not fun. Darla
  19. One of my favorite options is the US Mail. I am limited to what the plane will carry when I shop. This will equal about four Rubbermaid totes. Anything over that I mail back to myself. I live far enough from the stores that this is not unusual to me and I have totes all over the place in order to mail things to me.
  20. My favorite stop on BF is Fred Meyers in my area. They provide juice, coffee, and donut holes. This makes them my third stop. By then I am ready for a carbohydrate boost.
  21. My vote is for their Saturday morning sale. I like Black Friday for sewing needles, but the sale on fleece gets me every time. Have fun
  22. Come vacation for Thanksgiving in Alaska. We are tax free. We don't have as many stores, but we don't have to pay taxes. We also don't have the crowds. This doesn't mean that there are not lines outside WalMart and people camping out at Best Buy.
  23. Hi, I start weeks before making lists of my desires on 3X5 index cards. On Thanksgiving, my sister-in-law and I compare lists and we match what we can to minimize our shopping. Black Friday starts at 4 am @ Denny's for breakfast with anyone that wants to go with us. We will make all last minute additions. The goal is to get in and out of stores within 20 minutes for the initial visit. We will hit the big stores by 7:30 am with all of our doorbuster items. The only goals for the first trip is the doorbusters. :eyepoppin We then regroup. We may need to return to stores to get items that are on the three day sale flyer. I love the idea of the binder for sale advertisements. I will add that one to my list this year. Last year I downloaded the ads to my computer and took my computer with me. I think the binder will be easier.
  24. Cold chilly dark morning. Good friends meeting together. Waiting for the deals.
