I kid you not! Those people looked pretty bitter and miserable and they didn't appear chatty or to be in a good mood. Can't blame 'em, but they've got only themselves to blame, don't they?! Just read some lady got her nose broken for some $10 stuff. Now imagine what people would do for a $400 instant rebate! As far as the laptop, I think for basic use it's sufficient and the price is very attractive. I'm just wondering if it's a wide screen (I've heard conflicting reports) and if it can take a Wi-Fi card plug-in. Th e eMachine is pretty good too, since you get a free monitor and 512MB (vs. 256MB from last year). It baffles me that they still didn't put in an AGP slot. eMachines' technical support is pretty good: very short holding time and the rep seems to be competent.

Jewel, sorry to hear your sad story. These f*cking stores never learn. You'd think after so many years doing BF sale, they'd get a few things right. No way, Jose! Year after year, it's the same crap, same madness, same chaos. Maybe they simply enjoy watching people trip all over around them for their merchandise. Holiday spirit, huh! I was at Sears this morning for the $10 Wish Card for the first 200 shoppers. This one is in a mall and has two stories with entrances on both. Supposedly people should line up on the first floor and enter the store. No, there's always some "smart ones" that came a few minutes before opening but figured maybe the 2nd floor door would open the same time and gathered around there. When they found out it wouldn't open as they speculated, they dashed down the stairs near the entrance and burrowed their way into the first floor line and cut in front of people who came an hour earlier. Sears should've handed out these cards before they opened the door, but it probably never dawned on them that such unfair practice could happen, even just for a puny $10. You'd think they are smarter than that and able to figure out such a simple, smarter way. I should've figured them out myself, since they lowered themselves to the point of getting bought by the King of Customer Disservice -- K-Mart!

After a whopping 90 minute hold, I finally got through to a CSR who helped me get all the stuff I wanted (minus the free AR laminator - sold out). I'm getting the delivery next Tuesday. All done in the warm and cozy of home sweet home while posting left and right on this great forum, coffee in hand...

No, no tent at my BB, but there were people with stools or collapseable lawn chairs. Yeah, some of them do go in shifts. I saw many cars with engine on and I'm sure the people inside are not there just for moral support or a free BF suffering show. I don't think I'm going to BB again next year.

Just came back from BB. Wanted to get the Toshiba laptop but I was like #250 in line for arriving at 4 a.m. They only had 25 Toshibas and the good thing is they started passing out coupons at 4:30. Of course there was no way in hell for me to get a coupon and that was the only thing I wanted. So I headed home and picked up some KBToys games on the way back. It was freezing cold (32 degrees plus wind chill) and I could see my breath. Before I left BB I asked those at the front of the line when they came and get a load of this: 7 p.m. yesterday!!! I can't imagine standing in this weather for 12 hours or more even if I'm buying the whole store, let alone a lousy laptop!

Nah, BB and KM all had 2-game bundle today for $79.99. I'll pass.

BB had 50 pack DVD+R for $2.99 AR this morning, but it's sold out now. That's a deal!

RossMan: Bringing a wi-fi laptop? Why? You sure they have hot spots around their stores? I've never tried that, so I don't really know. If they do, that'll be an easy 4 hours, but I'm not ready to use it as a weapon when the door opens. Too expensive!

I know some BBs last year gave out free 256MB upgrades to the first few people in line who bought the Toshiba laptop. It was very few, like 10 or so. But it's very nice.

Just realized K-mart opens at 7 a.m. Thursday and has some items on sale that I'm interested in. Any other stores also have action going on tomorrow?

Conscript, you've got too much time on your hand. Those FAR items are hardly worth it when you do them all. The filing, the copying, the envelope writing, and the worst of all--the tracking--can really drive you insane. But "to each, his own". Good luck! If you want a SD card, go to eCost.com and they are selling a 128MB for $2.00 AR. No shipping but they charge a few bucks for handling. It's better value when you want to buy a few things from them.

Yeah, this eMachine pricing is really out of whack. Last week CompUSA sold a 15" LCD for $99 AR! Is this eMachine LCD twice as good? I don't think so, but I guess they do.

Maybe it varies by region, but my ad says "5:30 a.m.-noon, Friday only! Early Start Door Busters! 155 incredible early bird values!" Be sure to follow your local ad.

venerdinero, there is a couple of laptops I can recall on the ad. I don't have it in hand right now. But there's a Toshiba Satellite with 2.66GHz Celeron M, 256MB, 40GB, and DVD-CDRW for $499 after $400 INSTANT REBATE (No MIR!!!)! Now I know where you'll be camping this Friday morning. :-)

My Sears flyer says they open at 5:30 on BF. Can RealFlava23 or our moderators edit the top post to reflect that? Otherwise, we may get some disappointed visitors Friday.

Conscript, what laid-back country do you live in? The BBs around me all had hundreds of people in line well before the clocks struck 5. If you're not in line by 4, you'd better give up the hope of getting any of the super hot goodies. You're hell of a lucky chap!

I got the delivery of some BF flyers today, too. BB is saying most items are available online as well. So, who's not doing the "also available online" thing but strictly B&M? BTW, there's no Apex 27" TV for $89.99, no eMachines AMD Athlon XP 2800+ with LCD monitor 15" for $349.99, or 14" MAG LCD Monitor for $99. But there is a WD 160GB HD for $29.99! So all hope is not lost. Just hope I can get it online and not have to wait in line for 3 to 5 hours. And the weather forecast for my neck of the woods is COLD!!!

It seems this year a lot of people will get initiated on their maiden BF voyage, and BF chatters on the Internet are all over the places. I'm thinking maybe there will be tons of more people joining the BF early bird foray this year and mayhem will break out over some sizzling hot items. Last year, there were a few incidents at Walmart that people pushed and shoved to lay their hands on merchandise and some woman got trampled and tried to sue Walmart. My hunch is this year will probably get a lot worse and lawyers will be camping in the parking lots. Am I too pessimistic about the good nature of Americans???

On the front page: "11/20 Update: Home Depot Items Removed Due To Legal Threats". Unless you're a home improvement buff, I don't see anything worth my while going there. And even if you really are, there's always Lowes and others. It's so stupid that they are trying to limit their ad's distribution ahead of the biggest sale day of the year. Let's work together and show them they have done a great job on that front!
