  1. It was only a 16MB usb drive to start with, so it's not exactly a major loss. It's just that I hate to think that Microsoft is resorting to scams now.
  2. What's couponbug.com? I've never heard of it. (and right now it doesn't seem to want to pull up.)
  3. What was this *supposed* to be? Off hand I can't recall anything about it. Never mind. I found the thread.
  4. Yeah, I admit it's a fun site to play around on.
  5. The logic seems a little erratic. I used my (rural) zip code and the word "computers", figuring I'd get a number of hits from Little Rock and a couple surrounding cities. It gave me 29 hits in a 200 miile radius, only 5 of which were actually places that sold computers. The rest were for computer accessories like backpack cases, or for furniture for heavens sake!
  6. I doubt if any of the manufacturers will totally stop releasing internet coupons, ever. It's a matter of money. Mfg. has no printing and distribution costs that way. And the customers love getting them and seldom think about not being able to redeem them - until they are refused at checkout - and by then it's already bought at full pre-coupon price. Don't know many customers that will wade through several dozen walmart sacks in a basket just to tell the cashier they don't want something after all.
  7. Are they a baby's tennis shoes, or adult tennis shoes that 'only' have three sets of holes and you're looking for 'short' laces? I've found (kids and up) laces of almost all sizes in the shoe dept. at WalMart and in the baby dept there for baby shoes. Also some dollar stores. Also all sizes except 'infant' at several PayLess Shoes or similiar places. OnLine shoe stores and ebay have almost any length you can think of. Of course, if you reeallllllllly have problems finding the right length, you can always cut a full size lace down to the right length and dip the cut end of it in wax and 'roll' it between your fingers while the wax is still warm, to form a 'shoe lace tip' shape. 8. I asked over on the yahoo FoodSaver list I'm on, and no one 'recognized' it as a brand. Several agree it's likely to be "you get what you pay for" with this one, and considering the price is $10...... But it might be worth a try simply because it IS so cheap. Even if it doesn't hold a vacuum for food you could always use it to seal up small parts etc. . HTH Mary Stacks [email protected]
  9. With UPS Don't think you're going to get delivery even if it is marked for "signature only" delivery! A few months ago I ordered from Major Surplus & Survival. It was clothing that would come in a small 10x12 envelope type package, not a huge box or anything. They could not ship USPS to my post office box (I forget why not) so the next best choice (I thought!) was UPS marked SIGNATURE DELIVERY ONLY!!!!!!!!! Now any normal person would think that that would mean "if nobody's home DON"T DELIVER IT!". Right? WRONG! Not where UPS is concerned!!!!!!!!!!!!! A few days later, about the time the pacakge was due to arrive, we had an emergency out of town and I called the UPS terminal to ask how to "re-route" the package to where we'd be. They said they couldn't do anything untill after the first delivery attempt, that it would come back to the terminal after the first try (since it would not be left since signature was needed) and then I could call them and have an alternate address used. Sounds simple enough and the website tracking is good, so I said okay. BIG MISTAKE! The next day (the sechduled delivery day) I checked the website... and instead of seeing that it was returned to the terminal for lack of signature... I see DELIVERY was MADE by LEAVING THE PACKAGE UNDER THE PLASTIC SHEET that was THROWN OVER THE GARBAGE CAN IN THE YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After coming back home over a week later and finding my (wet, molded and mildew covered) package still clearly marked with it's Signature Required card, I called UPS to complain. Talk about beating your head against a brick wall for an hour!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems the driver has the "option" of LEAVING IT ANYWAY DESPITE THE LACK OF SIGNATURE! Okay, before I explode any further I'll just say that Majors (the shipper) was just as surprised as I was and they were very good about the whole thing, offering to fully refund my money or ship again. That wasn't needed since a heavy dose of Clorox and Lysol and PineSol, (yes all 3) took care of the mildew and mold and I'm wearing the things just fine. But it's UPS I will never again trust.
  10. Re the gift card, "Chapperone" him when he spends it! LOL! Seriously, take him to lunch "just the two of you", and then take him to the store to use it. Or if you reeeaaalllly want to get down-n-dirty about it, put him on a guilt trip about NOT telling you what else he would like instead! "You're making me feel soooo bad, dear! I love that you understand we simply cant afford the guitar and psp (whaaa's a psp? she asks blankly) but you're making ME feel SOOOO bad because you won't suggest anything ELSE you'd like! Won't you PLEASE tell me something you'd like that is still in our price range?" Or what about getting the guitar from a Pawn Shop? No way could soninlaw afford several hundred dollars worth of new one, but he looked around and found one at a pawn shop here that was BETTER than the one he'd been wanting, and much less than he'd been prepared to pay! :) I like cheap!
  11. Just make sure she knows you're doing this "for" her, as a "treat" ...not because you don't like the way she looks now! (Might not hurt to have this thread handy to show her just in case. ;) Gee gals, what would some of us do for a nice husband like these two, huh? LOL!
  12. The Classic is a 4.5 quart size, the Heavy Duty is a 5 quart. Doesn't sound like much difference, I know, and it isn't "really". It's the difference in the quantity of flour they will handle at once. If you bake a lot of bread that extra half quart means you can do three loaves at one time instead of just two loaves. I'm just tired of being limited to only two loaves of bread at a time, so I'm ready for a bigger machine. But I'm holding out until I find a price I won't have to raid the grocery money for. meo, If you're "just beginning to get serious" about cooking, then the Classic as cheap as you can find it, even used or refurbished, would be fine. Mine turns out some scrumptious cakes and cookies.
  13. Txguy - You say she just sticks with what she knows. Could it be because she has never had anyone show her exactly what she does need and she's afraid to experiment and do worse? If so, how about this: Is there a Merle Norman cosmetics studio near you? They do free "makeup analysis" (for lack of a better word LOL!) and could teach her just what her skin needs, both in form (liquid, powder, etc) and colors. Of course they want you to buy their makeup (it's excellent but pricey) but I have never had anyone not be willing to explain what to look for in "other brands" also. (Oh, and she will look gorgous when they're finished, so plan to take her out to dinner to show her off afterwards!
  14. Target has fleece-lined mocasin-style slippers for $20 and last week they had the bigger sizes. (hubby wears 10 but son wears 13 also ).
  15. Nice price! I was looking at them a couple weeks ago but couldn't get below $195 after taxes were stuck on. Waiting for some "super sale" time somewhere when I can catch one like it on clearance for around $150 or less. (Yeahhhh, dream onnnn! LOL!) Don't forget to check out the KitchenAid web site www.kitchenaid.com and tell that story over on their forums. They love 75-and-still-going-strong stories over there! :-)
  16. With all the "exculsions" Pennys sticks on their coupons, I'm never sure what is "couponable" and what isn't. In the Electric Blankets the Biddeford brand says "JCPENNEY VALUE RIGHT: An everyday great price not eligible for discounts or promotions." Does anyone know if this blanket would be eligible for the (20%? 10%?) amigo discount? (Anybody have any experience with this brand?)
  17. I admit I'm very behind here plus trying to read here while I do Turkey Day stuff so I'm bouncing up and down like a rubber ball! LOL! But I'm curious: I just now ran across the (Nov.19th) removal of the Office Depot ad and the "urge you to shop elsewhere" entry. One of my BF stops was going to be Office Depot. There are other choices so it's no big deal if I don't go there. But now I'm wondering what Office Depot pulled to get pulled. Anybody care to clue me in? Please?
  18. 11-14-2005, 8:34 PM #13 jamieva says Check the Best Buy circular I believe they have one for $150 Jamieva, I've been all over the BB circular and I can't find any of the computers for that. Where/which is it?
  19. Since it was that new did WalMart make good on it, V3r71g0? Or did your friend have to eat it himself? I've been thinking about getting one since $300-400 is about right for the budget. But on limited income I can't afford to throw money away if it's just going to go belly up a month later! v3r71g0 The laptop walmart is advertising in their ad is a piece of shit. HP had the parts in it manafactured in China so they could sell it cheap. You get what you pay for. A buddy of mine has the same model and it crapped out on him a month later. We found out that the motherboard in it was fried due to bad capacitors.
